Rose trotted quietly through the pumpkin patch. after he day with Indigo, Rose had felt exhilarated and some what happy. She wanted to take this mood and go with it. So today she was going exploring, she wanted to experience everything. As she made her way through the field, she caught the scent of another cat. It's a male. Rose groaned nervously. She had never been comfortable around males, she probably never would be. To her all males, in any shape or form they were evil dirty force-breeders. That's how males were set in her mind, and they always would be. Unless they could work a miracle and change her so firmly set mind.

Rowan padded quietly through the patch, too amazed to say anything. What were these huge leaves? He had never seen the likes of them before, which he found profoundly embarassing - having grown up on none other than a farm. Still, even his embarassing ignorance couldn't distract him from the huge leafy plants. So early in the year, too. He blinked again. It was unbelievable. What grows here? he wondered with awe. What sort of fruits would spring from this great, leafy bed?
He lifted his head away from the foliage around him as he smelled another cat close by. Prepared for a pleasant encounter - after all he'd never met anyone that mean besides that tom who'd teased him about Dapple (he scowled just thinking of him). It was a she-cat. He finally spotted her after nosing his way out of the growth and grinning sheepishly. "Hey. These things are awesome," he said, flicking his tail at the patch around them. "Any idea what grows here?" he asked curiously. He couldn't conceal his enthusiasm because down at heart, Rowan Brokendaze was such a tree-hugger.
OOC: Yeah, I have no clue how much growth there would be in a pumpkin patch at this time of year thought I'm pretty sure it would be none. But originally I had pumpkins so this is a bit better. Lol, maybe they're growing early this year

OOC: Lmao, every season is pumpkin season (or we'll just say it is XD ).
Rose spied the other cat a little nervously. "Hello, yes they are pretty cool I guess." Rose looked around and shurgged. "Honestly I have no idea. I'm not very informed when it comes to vegetation. Well I know that this is grass and that's a tree but what type of grass or tree is completely beyond me." She sighed, knowing she was rambling on about nothing in particular, and the he-cat wasm probably getting rather bored with her. She grinned, her back relaxing. He doesn't seem like some evil cat that's luring me into a false sense of security or anything. He seems rather nice."[/b] She waved her tail back and forth trying to fill in the silent caps with something.

Rowan grinned at the she-cat, who - if he didn't say so himself - seemed to be warming up to him. This for some reason made him feel foolishly proud - despite the amount of trouble and confusion he was already trying to sort out. "Very cool," he agreed with a wink - a nice wink, though. He laughed as she continued. She was pretty funny even if she didn't realize it. "I love trees and stuff actually," he confessed, leaning in slightly and lowering his voice as if they were surrounded by others who couldn't overhear.
He straightened up. "For example, those trees over there that mark the fringe of the wood seem to be mostly maple with the odd birch. A bit like the forest near where I grew up. There were oaks there, just a bit further in..." His sentences trailed off as he speant a second reminiscent. Then he shrugged. "But I can't help much with grass. I only know one type: Grass." He laughed. "But I'm good with flowers if you've got a pretty bud that needs identifying," he continued smoothly with a grin. The best thing to be said about interacting with strangers is that you could put the rest of your life to the side.
OOC: Yep Magic pumpkins that grow all year round. *wide-eyed* Gasp! Lol.

OOC: Snowy pumpkins?!? I want one!
Rose smiled kindly. "I'll remember that." She blushed, as she remembered that she had forgotten to introduce herself. "Forgive my terrible manors, I'm Rose...Thornbush." She grinned slightly as she said her name. "But I'm good with flowers if you've got a pretty bud that needs identifying." She shook her head slightly. So what Rose, he said he knows about flowers, and your name is a flower. Big whoop, don't go nuts. she blinked and nodded to herself once or twice, trying to focus on not being a freak. Who am I kidding, he is probably totally scare dof me now. She offered aweak sm9ile, as she felt her back tense up again. she was losing her confidence slwoly but surely.

Rowan grinned as Rose smiled, seeming to relaz. If there was one thing that he enjoyed more than absolutely anything in the world it was making others smile. Yes, it made him feel good but it could also make conversations a lot more relazing for himself, knowing that the other cat was happy and not about to bite his head off. The thought made him snort. "Sorry," he said with a grin. "Just thinking to myself." He dipped his head slightly. "Honored to meet you, Rose," he replied with a wry grin on his face.
"I'm Rowan Brokendaze but most just call me Rowan. I'm probably the only on who remembers my full name," he joked. Not that it was exactly unusual for a cat to go by their first name instead of both but his was rarely even brought in conversation. It was a bit weird too, he secretly thought sometimes. He liked the idea of daze - as if it was a trance he could put on others. But then... it was broken? Or was it supposed to mean that he was under a spell that he had broken? He thought about the two possibilities often when he was bored and always came to the same conclusion. The last name was his family's name and did not apply directly to him so why did it matter?
Though it would have been interesting to find out. How? Mama, did I have a great-great-great-grandpa that was under a spell and broke it? Or did he entrance others 'cept they broke out of it? He let out a sudden laugh. No no no. She'd think he was even crazier than he already was. "Sorry," he apologized. "The whole thinking to myself thing again," he said with another laugh. Besides, he had no clue if he'd ever see his mother again so it was even more pointless.
Sheesh, he thought of weird things.
OOC: Haha. Don't we all?

OOC: Well I mean you could sell it on Ebay for so much money! XD
Rose smiled, and she forced her back to release it's hard grip, holding her in a tense psistion. "It's a pleasure to meet you Rowan." She smiled at his name. "I like your name. It's very unique, I've never heard of anyone called Rowan before." She smiled, and felt her back loosen. This time is wasn't forced. Just natural relaxition was causing the change. She grinned, she hadn't felt this comfortable around any male since, well ever. She chuckled at his apology. "It's oaky. I drift off all the time. I mean sometimes the reality inside your head, is a lot funner then the actual reality surrounding you." She blushed. She had never told anyone how she really felt about life itself. To most it was weird her views on life could be sumed up in a sentence.

Rowan raised one brow. "Really?" He shook his head as if this was such a sad occurance then he raised it with a grin. "Well now I know why I'm here: I must have been sent to correct that," he joked, eyes twinkling. He nodded at her statement. She thought quite similarily to himself, actually. "True. But try explaining to someone that the voices in your head are funnier than they are so you're actually not laughing at them." He made a face and laughed. "Not pretty."
A little warning went off his head and he hastily added, "Not that that happened now or anything." He grinned, seizing the moment and running with it. "You're actually very pretty." He smiled and ducked his head slightly, not wanting to seem like a creep. Hopefully she'd realize he was genuine. And hopefully he hadn't ruined things. But hey, a girl wouldn't take offense to being complimented. Would she?
OOC: Lol, we'd be rich!! $$$

Rose blushed slightly and looked at her front paws, he nervous quirk coming back. She toyed with a single strand of grass in front of her. "Thank you." She looked up breifly, before returning her gaze to her paws. "You rather handosme youself." She sort of gasped at her cofidence as she said it. She peered up at him slightly, before fixing her gaze back down on her paws, this time until he spoke again. The wind rustled her fur and she shivered slightly. Not because she was cold, more because she was nervous. She was used to being alone and shy. This sort of belonging and outgoingness was both refreshing, and terrifying. It was outside of her comfort zone. The wall that had blocked out so many, the one she had carefully constructed for the past year. She could feel part of the wall crumbling, yet she felt in no way obligated to fix it. She wanted it to break, she needed it to break.

Rowan chanced a glance up as he was thanked for his compliment. "No need to thank me for telling the truth," he added with a mischievous grin. "It's just one of the many lessons I was taught as a kit." He chuckled and winked at Rose. She was a sweet she-cat. A bit on the shy side but she seemed like the genuine kinda cat. Shy and pretty - underestimating herself. Of course, that was just Rowan's opinion.
"You rather handsome yourself."
Rose seemed to give a little gasp herself and Rowan grinned. "Why thank you, m'dear," he replied with a smooth, exaggerated accent. He couldn't help it. He was a sucker for a pretty feline and with that came the need to impress, enlighten or at least make laugh. He smiled. "Soooo, whatcha doing in the area?" he asked, tilting his head to the side quizzically. They had sort of stumbled into conversation upon meeting each other without covering the basics. You know, whatcha doing, how are you, how'd you end up on the streets, where'd you grow up kinda thing.
Not exactly basics but more like decent questions to fill up the beginnings of conversations when you didn't know one each other. And even though they were essentially just conversation fillers, Rowan found himself eagerly wanting to hear Rose's response. He just wanted to know as much about the pretty she-cat as possible. A warning ping went off in his head. Dapple? Strike a bell? Oh. Yeah. Not that it was likely that he'd even see Dapple ever again. He was moving on. She wasn't actually...waiting for him... was she? Ugh. He needed to find her and make things clear, it was that clear. Before that he couldn't do anything. Finding her was the priority.
Which left him with... Violet. The sweet and surprising little feline he had grown to have feelings for. Things were complicated enough with the whole Violet-Dapple thing and now he had to go and lure another she-cat in as though he was perfectly single? Oh and in case things weren't confusing enough, there was also Storm - though he wasn't sure where he stood with her. But... he wasn't doing anything wrong. He was carrying on a conversation with Rose and complimenting her. Still...
How had he gotten into a situation like this. Him. He was sweet and caring and never hurt others yet he was set up to knock out she-cats hearts like flies no matter what he did. Cause of course, he'd never cheat. Now they'd all figure him out as some sort of player. He wasn't. Things were just...
Complicated.

Rose smiled gingerly still feeling nervous. "Oh just exploring, trying to get to know the area." She sighed thinknig back to the day Violet had left her to hang out with Rowan. It had been one of the harder days for her. It had pushed her back behind her carefully constructed wall, to hide in the shadows like always. Her love for Violet had since then shrunk, until is disappeared into a complete hole of nothing. Now instead it left a gaping hole, right in her heart. Maybe Rowan can fill it. She shook her head, laughing at the thought. Violet most likely had her tibs on him anyways. Besides she would never have a chance with a cat like Rowan. No one accepted her once they saw her wall. They didn't care enough to help her destroy it. They just turned, letting her slip farther into it's shadows. Her back stiffened, at the thought of the rejection she had suffered. It stung her heart just to think about it.

Rowan nodded with a grin, hating that he had distracted himself from the conversation with thoughts that were completely irrelevent. There was nothing wrong with him befriending Rose or carrying on this way. Nothing! Almost as if to prove so to himself, he through himself back into the chat with renewed energy. "Ooh, that sounds like fun. I do love to explore," he confessed. "You know, find somewhere you've never been before and set out to map it out in your head. Though I think it's more magical without a mental map - when around every bend is a surprise. Of course, favorite spots are nice too. But sometimes I could do without the mental map - sometimes I even try to make sure I won't remember. In a way, a special spot is even more beautiful if it is a surprise again - for the surprise of finding it is the funnest, wouldn't you say?" he arched one brow, fully away that he had completely gone off on a tangent from what Rose had said.
He grinned, blushing slightly. "Sorry 'bout that, I get excited sometimes," he apologized, his eyes still twinkling slightly. And it wasn't fake. As desperate as he now was, he was still telling nothing but the noest truth - recounting his opinions to Rose. It didn't matter what the opinion was on, he just wanted her to know. He wanted her to get to know him - he wanted Rose to want to know him as he wanted to know her. He sensed that he had been in dangerous territory a minute or so back - the edge of a cliff, persay.
And he had jumped right off.

Rose shook herself slightly shaking all the tension from her body. Her back was loosened, but it was a force sense of security. In her mind it told her not to do it. Not to let herself get to attached. She blinked, reasoning with her own mind, telling herself, she could have friends again. That there was a safe spot for her and those she cared about. "I do agree. Suprises are much nicer then remembering. Unless the surprise is bad." She loved suprises over remembering. Sure it was nice to remember the good she had experienced, but it also dug up painfully memories of the past, that Rose sooner bury, then find again.

Rowan grinned at Rose, foolishly extremely happy to hear that agreed. "Yeah, bad surprises are, well..." He sought the right word. "Uh, bad?" he offered lamely, snorting at himself. "I do have a way with words," he joked with a quiet laugh. They descended into silence but Rowan found himslef pondering over the fact that it was not an awkward silence. That was a good thing - right? Yes, he told himself, for it meant that they were comfortable enough around each other.
He smiled. He liked Rose - he genuinely did. She seemed shy and withdrawn at first but really, she was lovely to be around. She just didn't have that was confidence - she seemed to underestimate herself. How he longed to tell her this. But he had a feeling that it would just scare her off more. He could wait. For now, he was comfortable to just be in her presence and mull over his thoughts.

Rose smiled, and giggled quietly. "Oh yes, your a regular Dr. Sesus." she didn't really know who Dr. Sesus was, but she had heard he was good with words, which was enough for her.
The comfortable silence sent chills up and down her spine. She was growing close to someone. That never turned out good. Something in her mind said, You know what Rose? Take a chance. Give Rowan a shot. He may not be the evil cat you seem to think everyone is. He may be your best friend ever. Give yourself a shot. She sighed, knowing the voice was right. She knew who the voice was. It was her, ages ago, when she was confident and not a withdrawn. When she was someone, not what she was now. A Lingering soul, who really served no more purpose here.
