In the name of all light bulbs everywhere, I officially have an idea! *le gasp*
Okay, I got this idea when I was planning out one of my next kitties. I decided to base him off a character in a book I'm writing, with small edits to his pelt and eye colour. I began to struggle once I considered a name. In the book, his name was Adeje which wouldn't, obviously, be accepted on Carpe Diem. I did think of a name, eventually, but I'd have much preferred his original name. So I was thinking, wouldn't it be good if there was some way around getting a non-natureish name for players who had been on for a while? So, again, I thought, well, what about using the points system? It could mayve be something like this ::
++ Non Nature-Related name - XX amount of points. If you buy this you can create a new cat with a name not nature realted, but an actual thing. Such as :: Ink, Pharoah, Fanta. ++ Made up name - xx amount of points. This enables you to make a new cat with a made up name, such as :: Adeje, Irin, Sylus. It has to be pronouncable. For examplen nothing like :: Arkaskmejhkwhsiihsiuek.
So, whadda' ya think? :]

WellI personally think it's a great idea. I also think that the points needed should be a decent amount considering we don't want the rules of CD to fall apart. Plus, new members need to see that the original rules are nature names and would think to make a non-nature name because they see a cat with one. I LOVE IT ROBIN!! -hugs lightbulb-

I love your idea robin... I just couldn't resist the pancakes!!!! I think its a great idea... But maybe you have to already have two characters with proper names, that way it has to show that you still understand the character naming thing.... but yeah, I totally agree

Yeah I think this would be good but I think that maybe there would have to be a reason for them having a different type of name. For example, the mother never named them or cared to stick around and the humans gave them their name which they kept. They chose to use their human's name for them after falling out with their parents / having their parents leave. Their mother couldn't think of a name so she blended some sounds together. And etc. Lol. That make sense? As for points, I'm thinking probably about 200, maybe even more, which is know is a lot but I don't want to have a ton of non-normal-named cats floating around, you know?

That sounds good, Lu. It would have to be pretty high, yes, so that we don't have trillions of them wandering around. Do you think the non-natural names should be easier to get than the made-up names? ^-^

It's alright, I'm like that at times. xD Here's the difference ::
Non-Natural :: This is acutually an object or something, just not nature-ish. For example :: Ink, Amethyst, Pharoah. Made up :: This isn't really an object, or a thing. Just a name really. For example :: Adeje, Irin, Sylus. :3

What about names in like different languages would that fall under Non-natural names? Such as names like Kari or Yuki. Both are Japanese names and one means light and the other means snow.

Hmm. I don't know about that one... I think we might be in need of another poll if we add this to the site!

I think that's an absolutely great idea Robin! You're right, there a quite a few cats that haven't really been paying attention to the nature related name rules -cough cough- Gingko -cough- Alacander -cough- Lol jk. But as much as I loved the language Japanese, I think there would be a flood e_e Maybe though, if you have to pay points and be around for a long time. Like say 6 weeks - 2 months? I beleive that maybe there should be a different category for names in different languages rather than putting them in non-natural. This is just an example of what it might look like, from Robin's original copy or such. The points are just what I think a good price for them would be. ++ Non Nature-Related name - 25 amount of points. If you buy this you can create a new cat with a name not nature related, but an actual thing. Such as :: Ink, Pharoah, Fanta.++ Made up name - 30 amount of points. This enables you to make a new cat with a made up name, such as :: Adeje, Irin, Sylus. It has to be pronounceable. For example nothing like :: Arkaskmejhkwhsiihsiuek.++ Name from a different language. - 40 amount of points. This lets you create a new cat with a name from any language, such as :: Kari [Light\ Japanese], Yuki [Snow\ Japanese] , Etoile [Star\ French] , Colmillo [Fang\ Latin]Although I believe this is a great idea -huggles- I don't think it shuld go any firther, like I don't think Carpe Diem should ever let humans names into the mix. Seth the cat, Erin the cat, Jayme the cat, just doesn't seem right

Hmm that would probably fall under special but maybe like 150 for a name in another language and 200 for just a made-up name? Maybe not those exact points but like different prices?
