The moons light was dull, the stars barely making a glimpse of light in the misty night sky. Then again, there was never much light in her senses since birth, she had had to depend on hearing and smell more than usual cats. Yowls and chatters of anxious hidden creatures filled the air, as patters of paws on the side walk echoed down the junkyards sharp slices of iron and steel. Slinking through the shadows, the small ice white kitten sighed. Nothing was the same anymore. There was no food to chase for fun, let alone eat at all. The water was only from the scarce rain puddles on the thirsty dirt, if it hadn't already evaporated.
Slowing to a halt, the kitten sat to her haunches. Cool blue eyes flickered a gaze around the towers of rubbish, searching for anything at all. Blurred images of junk came to see, but apart from that, Nothing came to her interest. Winter rose impatiently and paced the dirty grounds.
Lifting her ivory muzzle to the chilled sky, Winter closed her eyes. Tipping her mouth forward, she took a deep breath and let out a lonely call. Her lungs vibrated with her own gentle soft voice filling her body, auds swiveling back and forth, attempting desperately to catch a sound. Only silence surrounded her, as again the pure white feline set forward. Sniffing the earth, Winter approached a thick pale object upon the floor, sheltered by some sought of old straggly piece of machinery. Old smells drifted off of it, but nothing fresh enough to draw her attention.
Settling on last desperate look around her, Winter yawned. Yes, she was completely and utterly alone, whether she liked it or not. Climbing on top of the cushioned, sheltered object, Winter collapsed purposely onto her soft underside. Tucking her limbs around her like a blanket, fluffy long tail positioned comfortably over her cold nose, Winter shut her lids and attempted the last command her brain offered. Sleep.

OOC: You have to post in the 'A Winding, Stretching Path' board before you post anywhere else. Don't worry, I made the same mistake... =);;

OOC: Yeah, that's okay though, that's really only a preference, it depends on the cat's history. But it did used to be a rule, that's why Stellar had to lol But your post can't be in color - you can, however, add images and such to it and format it however you like (just don't stretch)

It was so much more difficult finding her way around in the dark than with light. Though her hazel eyes, feline as they were, could see better in the dark than when she and her surroundings were bathed in daylight, she knew all of the ways to go to get to her home only in the daylight. They were all changed and distant-looking in the dark. They were foreign. Thankfully, though, she did have a superior sense of smell, and, well, the dump emitted a very powerful odor that was quite easy to follow if you were downwind of it, which is exactly the place where Juniper was trudging from. Downwind.
She tiredly flicked her right ear in annoyance at a fruit fly that had been buzzing there. ”The dump is this way,” The silvery tabby told the fly, pointing her tail in front of her. And then, as if understanding what she was trying to tell it, the fruit fly buzzed in her face for a second before flying in the general direction which she had pointed her tail in. She blinked her green-brown eyes in wonderment before continuing her trip to her home.
Her home? Then why was she going to the dump? Well, her home was beneath the outermost layer of filth. In fact, it was pretty down in there. The garbage down there was probably pretty old, but the food was still edible. It had the occasional bug or bite marks on it, but it was pretty good. It was nothing like fresh human food, but at least it wasn’t, y’know, garbage. Juniper had tasted food before that tasted like garbage, and the food they, meaning she and her best friend, Moon, found buried underneath the mounds of human trash was much better than that.
Eventually, the she-cat padded into the dump. She picked her way carefully across the garbage, taking extra care to avoid anything sharp that could cause her even the slightest amount of pain. Juniper wasn’t very pain-tolerant. She then noticed the other cat, sitting down. Curiosity immediately consumed Juniper, and she forgot about whatever it was she had been thinking. Who was this new feline? She had never seen anything quite like it before. It had long white fur, kind of like Moon, but it was bigger than Moon. It looked a couple years older than both of them.
Curiosity guiding her, she approached the cat. She couldn’t tell whether it was a male or female yet because the dump’s toxic odor was doing a good job of masking the newcomer’s scent. She realized that it’s eyes were closed, and wondered why it was doing that. Was it sleeping? Maybe she shouldn’t disturb it. But it’s breath didn’t look that calm to be sleeping yet. She shrugged and decided to take her chances. ”Hello,” She said, smiling. A good first impression is very important, as her old humans constantly told their female kit. ”What’s your name?” She had tons of other questions but decided to stick to that one for now. It wouldn’t be nice to overwhelm it with questions just yet. It looked too tired to answer all of them, anyway.

OOC;; I edited colour. Sorry! & now that someone has replied, I don't have to post there, do I? Btw, Thanks for replying Juniper!
The irritating, annoying hum of an approaching fruit fly sent Winter’s ears instantly driving into an uncontrollable twitch. Flicking them in various patterns, she sighed slightly. It’s tiny numerous legs touched the points of her white triangle Auds, tickling and making her shake her small delicate head, free from it’s perch upon her. Winter slightly opened her eyes to a slit, to view the annoying creature she would soon send on its ways. Suddenly jumping to her feet, Winter scrambled backwards. Her fluffy silk ivory tail grew to a bush shape, framing her body as it stood up high.
‘Hello. What’s your name?’ The lyrics hit her mind, as her eyes widened and she desperately attempted to catch a look of the un-wanted visitor below her. Squinting slightly, Winter could make out a brown, furry shape. Her slight blindness caused extremely annoying in situations like this, especially when trying to sense whether friend, or foe. Seeing the body language of the other was important. Very, important.
Down upon the ground, a small tabby cat sat. A smile lay upon its maw, Obviously appearing to be no threat. Yet. It’s scent had been hidden by the winds positioning, and also the putrid stench of garbage taking it’s place.
Slightly calming, winter sat down, wrapping her tail gracefully around her snow white bodice, She licked her lips and nodded. Bright aqua eyes gazed down, as she slightly blushed, and shrugged her petite shoulders, A small awkward smile laced her face. The kitten seemed, and sounded only young. Maybe a couple of years younger than herself.
“Hello there. My name is…” Thinking a little, Winter took a deep breath. Did it matter? She was new on the streets. Noone knew her anyways. “Winter Bluestorm.”

Juniper took a few steps back away from the feline as it’s tail fur fluffed out and stood up high. Did it feel threatened by her? That seemed to be the obvious case. Or perhaps she had just surprised it. It had been sleeping, after all. But, perhaps this cut was hostile? So, out of instinct more than anything else, she fluffed her fur out to make herself look bigger than she actually was… Which still wasn’t very big. She was small for a cat her age, even if she was not quite an adult yet. Though her first birthday was next week.
She sighed in relief when the other cat sat down. It obviously didn’t think she was a threat. This hurt Juniper’s pride a bit, especially because she was trying to make herself look so big and bad, but it was also a relief. She didn’t want to go around making enemies, after all, she was still fairly new to this place. She only knew two cats so far. And she wasn’t exactly the type to make enemies, either; She wasn’t sure that she even knew how to do that. She was so friendly all the time.
Taking the cue from the other feline, she sat down, forcing her silver and sable fur to lay flat over her small body. She examined the white-furred feline’s movements, and deemed it safe to start using feminine pronouns. A few seconds after she had decided this, the other cat introduced herself. Juniper nodded slightly to herself. The name sounded feminine enough. It was a rather cool name, she remarked. And, wait a minute-- It had Storm in it, too! Just like her last name!
”Really? That’s so cool!” She exclaimed excitedly, then realized that Winter probably thought it would be weird to get so enthusiastic about a stranger’s name. Her ears went back. She needed to think before she shouted like that. ”I mean, my name is Juniper Stormfeather. We both have ‘Storm’ in our last names,” She corrected herself, thinking that hopefully Winter didn’t think she was a weirdo now. Or, at least, she hoped that she wasn’t as much as a weirdo as Winter probably thought she was when she shouted randomly.
Smiling kindly at Winter, she wondered why the feline had decided to sleep on top of a bunch of human garbage. Human workers came here often to try and tame the smelly mess, and Juniper knew that humans didn’t like it when you got in there way. She was glad she had found this cat before the humans got to her. Who knew what they would do with her after they caught her? She shivered at the thought. Humans could be cruel sometimes, as she had learned when her first human family had found her a new home with a different human who seemed to have forgotten about her the minute she was dropped off by her previous family. Yes, humans could be cruel to others.

Winter flicked her gaze upon the young kitten, who also sat upon her limbs and tucked her tail, as she had herself. The attempt that the kitten had made to 'Poof' herself up seemed a bit of a laugh, as she has still so small that it made scarce difference to her size.
A small smile fell to her white lips, as she nodded. The kitten spoke fast, and reasonably kitten like too. Being interested in another’s last name was not on many cats’ list of things to do. "Really, Juniper? Well. That is very cool, And I must say, you have a beautiful name." Dipping her small delicate face slightly, Winter blinked in the night’s only moon light. The kitten seemed to be alone, but she scanned carefully over the terrain anyways. There were no humans yet, although the slight stench they had been here wafted around. Mean creatures they were. Top of the food chain, yet they abused it so.
Swaying carefully, Winter tucked her hind legs forward, and crouched down. Studying the floor of her intended landing place, she studied to make sure no sharp garbage lay to hurt her. Although she hadn't the best of eye site, Winter was satisfied the ground was clear. Bracing her limbs to support her jump, She crept down the side to the boxes slightly, before the cause of gravity finally caused her to finish her leap.
Landing with a soft thud a little away from Juniper, Winter smiled and sat once more.

Juniper smile increased in size. ”Thanks,” She said, and wondered yet again why this she-cat had decided to take a nap at the dump. Well, she slept at the dump a lot, but not out in the open… Should she show this cat her and Moon’s home? Would Moon get mad? ’It would only be for one night, she can leave in the morning and maybe she’ll let me come with her,’ She thought, trying to make up her mind. Surely Moon wouldn’t get mad with her if allowed their home to be shelter to another cat? She watched as the feline moved to another position amidst the garbage and adjusted her own position so that the front of her body was facing her, pondering all the while her decision.
And… What about other visitors? When they had first found their home, it was supposed to be a secret. But… What if other cats needed a place to stay? What if she wanted Mr. No-Name(he still hadn’t told her his name yet, even after they saved each others’ lives) to come and see where she lived? Or maybe if he wanted to live there, too, seeing as he didn’t have a home? She and Moon needed to figure this out. But now, she had no idea where Moon was.
What if she was just jumping to conclusions, as always? Heck, this cat probably had a cozy home in the woods for all she knew! Shifting her weight onto her right paw, she decided that she would ask the she-cat what she was doing here. That was a good first step. ”So, what brought you here to the dump?” She asked curiously, and unconsciously sheathed and unsheathed her claws into the garbage that, well, was the ground.
Her thoughts switched to No-Name. What could he possibly be doing without her around? He was probably hopelessly lost somewhere. That seemed just like him. And he was running around in circles trying to find out where he was. She forced herself not to giggle at the mental picture she had just conjured of him meowing helplessly as he ran around, confused and lost.
And then, she would come and get him out of trouble, as always. Well, it had been the other way around… Once. When she had carelessly gotten captured by that stinky human behind the market when they had been trying to get into the trashcans to eat. He had saved her life. Once. And it was probably her fault that she had gotten caught, but still. She had gotten him food, in the end. And he couldn’t even tell her his name after she did all that hard work to make sure he didn’t starve! She rolled her eyes. Stupid tom.
