Welcome to Cape Hope, North Carolina.
Where there is no escape from the fighting.
If there is one place on earth that has a good name it would be Cape Hope. Only problem is no one knows it’s here. There is no way to get out or in from the outside. Everyone that is in his small town was either born here, or captured when they were younger. Some slaves have run away to fight against the two covens, Bella Muerte and the Vandervoort covens. Before we get into all that, let me give you a little bit of history on Cape Hope in general.
Bella Muerte Coven was home to all vampires in the city. The Coven leader was the first and only, and his lover was his second in command. He kept a stronghold on everything he owned, so it was war the minute that his Second in Command went to start her own coven. She took many of his slaves and many of his coven members. Though his coven, since it was the largest, flourished even with the loss of his best members. After the Vandervoort coven found it’s footing so to speak, the first spies were sent by the leaders of each claiming that they hated the way the other coven worked and wanted to join in the fight. Of course this didn't last very long when one made the mistake of telling the wrong information to the leader of the Bella Muerte. He paid the price for it by being sent to the torture chamber and remaining there till he died, which wasn't too soon after.
When they found out after a hundred years or so when the next couple generations of slaves were being trained t ofight or do whatever it was that they were born to do, which was mostly breeders, the Vandervoort leader decided it might be fun to take away her ex lover's staff and help. He had no idea what was happening until his own personal slave had disappeared. Outraged he and many of his fighters went to attack. The other leader had been expecting it, and blood was spilled that night. HE replaced the one he lost, but it wasn't the same for a while. After he got fed up with the girl that was his slave, the leader replaced her once again killing the other mortal. Though this one he liked...he kept her locked up only to see him when and how he asked.
Though the ultimate thing that happened to this coven was that the new second in command had hsi own slave. She was not waht he wanted, but he couldn't really do anything about it. Defiant and untrustworthy, he treied to make her intothe perfect little slave. Abuse and lots of time in the torture chamber, Cadence Darcy was one of the most disloyal slaves that there ever was. She has so many scars on her body from the countless times she has done something wrong and sent to the little hell inside the coven. When she met the second in command of the rival coven, she fell in love with him.Only it was the most forbidden love that she or any other slave could think of. It wasn't jus tthat he was a vampire and she a slave, but the fact that he was the enemy made it all the more terrible. In secret, they meet whnever she is able, but now it's getting harder for her to even try. It seems someone has found her little secret to be quite entertaining and her master doesn't like to think his slave would ever do that. But who would ever believe that she wouldn't. Certainly not the Bella Muerte coven and it's vampires.
And still the battle rages on even after two centuries of fighting in this town. It will never stop until one defeats the other and until then you will never be too close to home again.
