Violet wandered with Rowan at her tail. The sun was setting to the side and Violet longed to lie on the long grass and share the beauty of it with Rowan. She wanted to share all of her emotions with Rowan. Except her love. She had given it all to Rowan. Violet giggled, not because anything was funny, simply because she was happy, and happy cats giggled, didn't they? Genuine love; Violet now understood, was worth more than anything, and to be with your genuine love was incomparable.
As the sun set into the darkness of the horizon, Violet snuggled deeper into Rowan warm and fuzzy pelt. Growing, a smile spread throughout Violet's body and made her close her eyes. She could smell Rowan's happiness. Again, another thing that made Violet happy. The feeling that vibed through Violet's body when she was happy, also vibed off of her, so Rowan could tell how happy she was.
With a fading glow, the sun disappeared behind the horizon. And the sweet smell of night glided into Violets mouth. Smiling, she looked at Rowan, and for the first time since they were mates, let herself lose herself in them.
Violet remembered trying to impress Rowan the first time that she had met him, by bathing her silky fur. Than, being flirty and pretending that there was something in his fur and going to wash it off. And then she remembered being surprised that he had also done the same. And then she remembered the first time she had stared into his eyes, and being amazed at how deep they were, filled with emotion and happiness.
Violet swished her tail tip in front of Rowan's nose, playfully tickling him. He laughed, another thing that made Violet happy. Being mates with Rowan was the icing and the cake to Violet's happy life.

Rowan laughed as Violet's soft tail tickled his nose. Grinning, he breathed in her sweet scent, trying to frame it's smell in his mind forever. His mate. He'd always thought that Dapple would be his mate - always. Even when she'd been taken away... Especially when he'd been taken away. But he'd never known there was someone out there like Violet so how could he have guessed that he'd fall in love with her. She was so uniquely quirky and adorable. One of a kind. It had been impossible not to fall for her. She was amazing. And she deserved his utmost attention right now - he shouldn't have been thinking about Dapple.
"So Violet, I have a little question for you," he meowed playfully, arching one brow in humor. An undecipherable smile played on his expressions as he leaned in to nuzzle her should gently. Oh, her fur was so soft. He grinned as he pulled back, his eyes sparkling fresh green with the laughter he was trying to contain. The question was a little bit overdue and he knew what the answer would be, obviously, but it felt like it was only proper that he should ask it anyway. Normally, toms tended to spring the question before they mated but to hell with protocol. Things were working out just fine for them.
He licked her ear quickly, grinning again. "Violet Wildflower," he started, trying to put as much emotion and love into those two words as he could possibly expend. "My darling Violet," he said, grinning at the exaggeration. "Would you do me the honor of being my mate?" He just couldn't stop grinning. It was a foolish question in all truth seeing as they both knew that they were mates now but he'd ask it all the same. Would that make her Violet Brokendaze now? It had a nice ring to but Rowan wasn't exactly sure how stuff like that worked. Did she automatically give up her last name by becoming his mate or did they need to talk? He brushed his worries aside. They weren't important right now.
What was important was Violet and this moment and remembering it for the rest of his life.

Violet giggled at the way Rowan was exaggerating his every movement. His humor was one of his amazing features, not to mention his eyes or... well.... everything! Smirking mischievously Violet responded to his question. "No, but, I Violet Brokendaze, would like to be your mate." It's now official, Violet thought, I have a mate!An amazing mate who understands me like he is me. Giggling as she went along Violet looked into Rowan's eyes, "There's something on your fur," then, leaning in towards him, she did the same thing as she had done the first time she had met him.
Licking his fur clean, Violet grinned at him. But, this time, she didn't need an excuse to do so.
A sudden rush of memory had brought her to earlier that day, earlier that day when she had realized that she might be pregnant. Might but, still, she needed to tell Rowan. The words gathered in her throat, but she couldn't seem to say it. What if he doesn't want this to happen? But then remembering how good it was last time she told something important to Rowan, she blurted it out.
"Umm... Rowan, I- I- I think I might be pregnant." She saw him processing the heart. This was what she wanted, she knew it, she longed to have a family of her own. Kits of my very own she thought proudly. She could imagine being a mother and having wonderful kits to care for. But what she could also see, was Rowan being an amazing father to their kits. She could see him telling them stories, and teaching them how to hunt. And herself, protecting her kits and gently scolding them when they got in trouble. And she realized, that this is the life that she wanted to live, for ever and ever and ever.
"Rowan," Violet blinked, "You are the icing and the cake to my life" This was the perfect beginning to her perfect life.

Rowan smiled at Violet. It was so hard to process this - that his life was going so well. Never before had he been so happy in his entire life and he doubted that it would be possible for him to feel any happier than he already did. "I'm very glad to hear that, Mrs. Brokendaze," he teased lightly, licking her ear and grinning, unable to draw himself away from her vibrant eyes. So many times before had he heard the saying that the eyes were the window to the soul but never until now had he really had it proven. Violet didn't hold back or hide from life, she was what she was and you could take it or leave it. It was one of the things Rowan loved so much about her.
And staring into her eyes now, he knew that she was happy too and that this was what they both wanted. But a thoughtful look came into her eyes and Rowan paused, about to say something. He closed his mouth, watching her and waiting to see what she had to say. When she finally spoke, he could feel his eyes widening, his ears widening up. "Are you serious?" he asked in disbelief, before realizing that she might mistake his shock for the bad kind. "Violet, hun," he murmured, nuzzling her softy. "A moment ago I thought I was as happy as I could possibly be. But now that's not true." He grinned at her.
"Because now I'm even happier with this news," he meowed, licking her again. He didn't know what to say. She was pregnant! They were going to have kittens! Violet would be a mother! And he'd be a father! It was as if he'd gotten swept up in a great wind, everything was overwhelming him so suddenly. "You'll be an amazing mother," he whispered to his mate, smiling softly as she spoke after him. "You are too, Violet," he murmured back. "You are too..." Grinning, Rowan nodded out towards the setting sun. "Shall we watch? Enjoy this splendid evening together?" He arched one eyebrow, unable to stop himself from continuing to smile.

Violet was happy at how Rowan had taken the news. He seemed so happy and that made Violet happy. Yes, let's watch the sunset. Leaning into Rowan, she rested her tired head on his shoulder, feeling his warmth flooded through her like a wave. Love was like putting two puzzle pieces together, and Violet and Rowan, were just... a perfect match. To Violet, there were no words to describe how she felt for him. No price that he was worth, but most of all, No way, that she couldn't love him.
Beyond all, the sun set, leaving Violet and Rowan in a world of darkness. No sight, having to rely on other senses. But, even in the darkness, she could see. She could see Rowan. This was the life she had always wanted. This was the life that kits would dream about and than not tell anyone. This was what Violet had always wanted. This was more than Violet had always wanted. That last thought stuck in Violet's head, putting her into a sweet sleep.
