After a war that raged for thousands of years, the floating fortress of Windtrust visits the kingdom of Death Mountain in order to sign a peace treaty. Yet the night before this could happen, something goes terribly wrong...
Enemies for so long, neither side trusted the other, and so the daughter of Emperor Gabriel of Windtrust is kidnapped, the perpetrators of this terrible crime, Deathmontainous Dragon riders. Their intentions had been to force Windtrust to surrender using the princess as hostage, convinced of that the other kingdom would surely attack them even after the treaty was signed; yet something went wrong, and they were seen. Immediately, the Pegasus riders of Windtrust set off to attack Death Mountain, trying to rescue the princess but failing; the war restarted, and the people's hopes for peace, shattered.
The engine was damaged during the battle, and the floating fortress plummeted from the skies. The reparations sure took a while, this giving Death Mountain just enough time to recover; and in the next skirmish, the Dragon rider's new leader was revealed, the previous one having been killed in the attack: it was the Windtrust princess, Korisen, who had been chosen by the great black dragon as his new master. She had been brainwashed, accepting what she had been told after seeing Gabriel's maddened rage unfold on the kingdom of Death Mountain, massacring hundreds of innocents.
And so the war wages on; dragon versus pegasus, enemies to the death. Neither side is truly good or evil, but only one will be standing at the end...
