Here there be monsters.
Rowan Brokendaze whistled to himself as he trotted down the path, his nose wrinkled in amusement. Silly humans. Always a need to pave over everything - did they never have the urge to just feel grass between their toes? He let out a quiet laugh and nimbly leapt over to the patch of grass that ran along the pathway - only for decorative purposes. He chuckled. It was a nice night - the moon was high and full and the light cast from it made it easy for anyone to see. Yes, he liked these kind of nights.
There was a snapping sound - quiet albeit - from behind him and he turned around slowly, head thingyed to the side quizzically. Nothing. Hmm. Strange. He shrugged and turned around, taking in the landscapes and park structures around him - his jaw quivering slightly as he restrained himself from laughing again at the peculiarity of the jungle gym. Laughing to yourself was slightly strange but acceptable but not if it was becoming a repeated action.
There was a rustle from behind him and Rowan turned around again, starting to get confused and slightly nervous. His eyes caught a shadow of a form - large and dog-like - that was cast onto the side of the slide. He frowned and took a step back slowly. The shadow moved. Rowan gulped. He glanced around, wondering what - who - was casting the shadow. It took a moment before he realized. The humans had created statues of small animals and stuck them in the sand for the children to play with. One of them was a dog.
He breathed a slightly shaky sigh of relief. It was alright. He shook his head, amazed at how easily he had been frightened. Silly Rowan.

Caught in the eye of the S T O R M Did the heaven just open and fall?Well, Storm Shadowclaw wasn’t the happiest cat on the planet at the moment, but she was feeling a little better. She had met up with another Russian Blue like herself, Tamar. He was a right pain when she first saw him get ‘dumped’ like she had. But, she has to admit, he was kind of nice now she’d got to know him more. The she had joined up with Indigo, a ginger she-cat, and scared the living lives out of Tamar. Oh, it was priceless! And then there was Stellar or Stel for short. A tabby tom-cat that seemed rather nice. She was still trying to understand him and his ways. Something in his eyes attracted her. He seemed more…focused on Indigo than the rest of them. It made her laugh. Tail held high in the air, she slowly walked over the stone pavements, grey pads rubbing against them, causing her only a little bit of pain. She had never felt anything so hard, apart from the wood floor in her ‘house’. Oh, how she loathed that word now. Anything to do with the humans…it was enough to make her screech out into the night. But she wouldn’t, because Storm wasn’t that type of cat. Not really.
Her green eyes shone in the dark of the night, and they looked like they were glowing like some novelty light. it was just her night-vision, and the fact moonbeams were striking her eyes each time there was a gap in the bushes. Never had she been outside. Storm liked it. She liked the sense of freedom it gave her. No longer did she have to listen to Her anymore. Claws of silvery white slid into their sockets as she let a sigh pass. It was quite lonely out here. The moon was glorious though. Storm had only ever seen it from out of the window. To be under it…it was amazing. Tail lowered a little her eyes wandered around, taking in the landscape and objects around her. Storm heard the rustling, but took it to be the wind and nothing more. If she were to be attacked, so be it. It was part of her Path of Life. Was she religious? No. But, she did believe in different pathways in life. Being kicked out of her home was one of them.
Ears twitched as she stopped, lowering her rear onto the pavement, giving a small shiver as the cold began to flow through her veins. Head lifted to the sky, green eyes just staring in awe at the moon. My, what a beautiful night…Shame there’s no- Nose twitched, whiskers flicking as she felt the presence of something else. It didn’t scare her, just made her tilt her head in confusion. Ears swivelled as she heard a small, quiet laugh coming from not too far away. Another cat perhaps? Slowly getting onto four paws again, she slowly walked around the bush, head poking out the side, green eyes looking around. There, not too far away, was another cat. But, who? She hadn’t seen it before. And she didn’t recognise the smell either. Taking a few paw steps out, the bush rustled as her tail it. Silver bells Wedding bells It was getting darker, if that was even possible, and Rowan found himself wonderinf what 'time' it was. He'd realized when living with humans how peculiar they were - naming the different times of day in some sort of numbered fashion - this he'd both learned from other strays and picked up after a while. He glanced up at the moon, squinting as if trying to measure something. It was late enough. He gave a shrug. Human time-measuring fashions were not a thing of great importance to him. Had he carried a watch and known how to read it he would have known that it was about three o'clock - the state at which humans are in the most deepest state of sleep. But he did not know this - and therfore had no clue that of all times, this was the time at which there was the smallest chance of anyone hearing his cries for help or coming to his rescue if anything bad was to happen. Shame.
He head the snap of a twig and froze, eyes darting nervously around the park and trying to decipher the many shadows that stretched and loomed around him. After a small rabbit hopped out of the bushes, he gave a sigh of relief and visibly relaxed into his normal stance. The rabbit evidently saw him for it froze - as terrified at he had been a moment ago - and dashed off. Rowan chuckled to himself. It hadn't needed to be so scared - he was in no mood for hunting. But it had no way of knowing that and so had acted on the instinct that governs all animals. Rowan turned around and looked up at the moon which had not changed or moved since he had last spared it a glance. It was a calm night.
There was a rustle form behind him and Rowan frowned. Another rabbit? Not likely after the one had so announced his presence to the world. Besides, he was beginning to detect a scent - faint on the lack of wind. Another cat. A she-cat? He turned slowly and blinked at the bushes - seeing no movement. Regardless, he took a step forward - cautiously. His paws sunk into the soft grass that grew outside of the neat concrete path which surrounded the sandbox. He opened his mouth and then closed it. It was so silent. He had almost forgotten how to talk. "Hello?" he finally managed, somewhat shakily. He coughed. "Hello?" he called out in a stronger, bolder voice. His eyes narrowed slightly. "Is anyone there?"

Caught in the eye of the S T O R M Did the heaven just open and fall?It was a very peaceful night. The sky was clear, not a cloud in sight, and their was mild too, with only a very faint chill if you were unlucky enough to have a breeze flow past your thin fur coats. A silvery white moon beamed down on the grass, making the small dew spots glitter in its light. Green eyes flashed a little, skull turning as the figure slowly came towards her. Storm had seen his nerves show, after the rabbit hopped out of the bush. Stupid little critter. Primal insticts getting the better of it. Then again, she was a bit hungry...but no, it wasn't polite. But, there were no rules ourside her 'home'...Flicking her tail in the air, the she-cat shook her head for a moment, remembering she had a cat to tend to.
Her rounded ears twitched and turned as she heard the rather shaky voice of a tom. Storm Shadowclaw looked forward, seeing the small thing getting closer to her. With a quick sniff, it was definatly a tom-cat. His voice ran tohugh her ears and into her head. Oh, he was a nervous little thing. It made her smirk, and giggle a little very quietly. Storm wasn't going to scare him, because it would be a very cruel thing to do. Besides, even if she was in a bad mood, there was no need to take it out on a cat she had never met before.
Letting her paws carry her away from the bush, her silvery blue fur shone in the moonlight, paws sinking a little into the grass as she gave a smile to the little tom."There's someone 'ere, yes." Her voice flowed out smoothly, and calmly. She didn't want to take her anger out on the cat. Tail flicking in a small welcome, she gave a dip of her head and let her green eyes look him over a little. Storm though he seemed alright, but her ability to judge on first impressions...well, it wasn't good. "No need to be scared hun. I ain't gonna pounce on ya." She laughed a little at the end, wondering how the tom would react. We are caught in the eye of the S T O R M All that's left are just bodies to mourn

I believe in KARMA What you give is what you get RETURNED I believe you can't appreciate real LOVE 'Til you've been BURNED Rowan glanced around nervously. He felt slightly - okay, extremely - foolish for acting like such a coward. He wasn't. He could be brave. But usually that only came when he was protecting someone else. No, when he was alone and it was own self in need of potential protection, he could be such a wuss. He snorted and took a step closer, as if to prove that he was just as brave as any other ordinary cat off the streets. Braver, even. He smirked at the new analysis. Perhaps he was taking things a bit too far. The grass rustled as he moved forward slowly, hesitaning as he lifted each silver paw before placing it down softly and quietly. He opened his mouth to call out again...
And closed it as a silver she-cat slid lithely out of the bushes. There was a tinge to her fur... Blue almost. He'd never seen such a colour before. Was it just the light from the moon? No, he didn't think so. Though it certainly cast a certain reflectiveness around them both that made it hard to look away. He only glanced down at his paws when he realized he'd been staring. "There's someone 'ere, yes." she murmured smoothly. He glanced up. "I thought as much." Ugh, now he felt like hitting himself on the head. 'I thought as much'? Brilliant greeting, billiant, Rowan, he reprimanded himself. "No need to be scared hun. I ain't gonna pounce on ya."He blushed as she let out a laugh at the end of her statement.
"Oh." He groaned softly. Now he really wanted to smack himself. What was wrong with him? Normally he was so smooth. Tonight he was behaving about as smooth as Jiffy's crunchy peanut butter. "Hi," he said finally, flashing her a grin. There, a semi-decent greeting albeit thoroughly unoriginal. "What are you doing in these parts?" he asked curiously, arching one brow. He took a slow glance around the park. "Myself, I just couldn't sleep," he admitted. "Though this scenery isn't exactly soothing. Shadows have a funny way of keeping me up." He chuckled softly with a small smirk. There we go. Much better.
I believe the GRASS Is no more greener on the other SIDE I believe you don't know what you've GOT Until you say GOODBYE OOC: Haha lol. 'as smooth as Jiffy's crunchy peanut butter' I love it <3

Caught in the eye of the S T O R M Did the heaven just open and fall?Storm's green eyes flickered a little in the moonlight, her grey pads slowly coming over the jade grass, as he stepped closer to te tom-cat. She still had a smile on her face as she did so, tail swaying gently in the air like a banner. Her silvery claws dug into the soil a little as she walked, paws finally reaching the concrete pavement. She looked at him again. He was silver-like in colour, and a tabby as well. He seemed rather nice as well, just by looking at his posture. And, she could see he was quite scared too. Well, she had just walked out of nowhere! Nowhere being behind the green-leafed bush.
She had seen him stare, but as it was late, thought nothing of it. By now, Storm might have had a few words to say to the tom, but she held her tongue and listened to his words, ears twisting and turning as he spoke. Her nose twitched a little as a small bug flew past it, making her blink quite a few times as she watched the speck fly away, buzzing to itself. It had been a long night for Storm. She had tried to catch a small brown mouse, but it slipped from her. She had nenver hunted before, and probably scared it with her hissing.
Storm heard his greeting, and ave another small bow, letting her long tail fall down until it was sweeping over the pavement, hitting some grass blades every once in a while. "Hey there." Smile widened a little, her face soon showing no expression after a moments hesitation. "What am I doin' in these parts?" she replied, blinknig a little as she lifted a paw, letting her tongue wash over it. Storm let it drop, then looked back to the tom. "Just wanderin' about."
She took a few paces over to the silvery tabby tom-cat, shaking her head a little as she walked back onto the grass, letting her tail and rear lower so she was sitting opposite him. The moon bathed the area, small stars twinkling in the black, a breeze catching the bushes and making their shadows dance. "Couldn't sleep huh? Not suprising. This place is a bit...odd. 'specially the metal frame thingy." Smirking and laughing a little, Storm calmed a little. She wasn't scared or nervous, just a little unused to talking and living on the streets yet. I believe in KARMA What you give is what you get returned Rowan's eyes watched her carefully. He wasn't scared - no, rather, he was interested in the she-cat before him. There was something about the way she acted. Very sure of herself almost but in a good, admirable way. Or maybe he was wrong. He smiled, his tail swishing back and forth in the soft grass behind him. The sound seemed much louder than usual in the silence that surrounded them. Strange how the quiet had a way of magnifying the loud. Very strange... he thought. He was surprised she commented nothing of his staring. Was she ignoring it? Please with the attention? Or did she simply have nothing to say in response? Should he apologize? No, he decided. That would only drudge it up. Best to act like nothing had happened.
He grinned as she greeted him, a much more simpler voice than when she'd called out to him originally. Probably because this time it wasn't dripping with amusement. He really needed to work on not being so scared for the randomest reasons. But it was tough when you were a little guy alone on the streets with a bunch of big guys. Not that there were other toms in the park but, hypothetically, there could have been. His whiskeres twitched. Even he found himself amusing to listen to. Rowan grinned. "Same," he replied. "Just wandering." He loved the way she spoke. The thought came to him quickly and he snorted quietly with amusement. It wasn't exactly an accent it was just... certain words said differently. But he liked it.
A flutter ran through him as she sat down to face him. The moon bathed them both in a eerie glow and the stars danced around them, he noted. He couldnt help it, he was a romantic at heart. And tonight really was a beautiful night if you could get past the creepy structures in the sandbox. He smiled at Storm, if for no reason than to express his contentment. That's what smiling was for, after all. He let out a quiet laugh. "True. I could think of many better places. Odd is the perfect word," he agreed, his eyes twinkling with amusement and the general happiness at the way this night was turning out. He nodded his head a few times. "Yeah... I think it's some kind of structure for the human kids to play on... I don't see how they don't fall off - last time I checked none of them had tails," he joked, even though he was serious in his question. "I think it's called a playing-structure. Or something like that. At least, that's what - someone - told me..." he continued vaguely.
I believe you can't appreciate real LOVE 'Til you've been burned. Admin's Edit on June 24th:This thread is being locked since it has been a while since there was any posting. If you wish to have it re-opened, PM me. If not we'll assume: -They continue talking -There is some sort of connection, Rowan feels attracted to the pretty silver she-cat -They both leave when morning comes to go do other stuff
