Stellar smiled sweetly and weakly as he watched Indigo speak. She was so beautiful, and though he couldn't really hear her, he knew what she had said. He burst out in tears and licked her all over the face, smiling happily. He looked her in the eyes, licked her forehead, and spoke happily, "Indigo, I will be the best mate you could ever have! I promise! But you have to promise me to stick with me through the good and bad, no matter what... Because... Sometimes I just need a shoulder to cry on." He sniffed. A shoulder to cry on was nothing he had had in his late childhood to his early adulthood. He was all alone all the time, getting kicked around and all that... So this was the best day of his life. He nuzzled Indigo behind the ear, where he whispered, "I love you."

++ The grey and black tom shuffled to the side, he looked at the two cats. Not meaning to read their lips, really. He sat a few feet behind the grey tom, not seeing his lips, but he saw Indigo. Indigo's face, he could almost read her thoughts from her face, it was like an open book. He could tell she was confused about something, but what? After a while words formed on her lips, "I love you." His blue eyes darted to the ground, absentmindedly he inched towards a box and slipped behind it, Indigo hadn't seen him because she was too busy staring into the brute's eyes and of course 'the brute' didn't see him because he wasn't even facing him. He wanted to run. He had no idea why, he just wanted to shut himself in a deep and dark hole. In a way, he did love Indigo, but, she'd already found her mate, the love of her pathetic life.
++ He growled in his head to himself, why had he even thought she might go for him? Humph. He was just a terrible guy who never got anything out of being nice to people. Indigo never thought anything of it, she had even run away from him. Now he heard one of the last statements made by Stellar, "Sometimes I might just need a shoulder to cry on." What was that about? Ash remembered very clearly that he had been a shoulder for Indigo, he slunk around the pair keeping his figure hiden. He did not want to see Indigo again, he couldn't stand the two. His head sagged and he ran off in a direction who knows where. He was going to be alone for the rest of his life.
Without friends. Without love. Without hope.
He just knew it.

Indigo laughed weakly at Stellar's enthusiasm. "How many mates do you think I've had?" she asked in a dazed voice. Because, of course, she was finding this all hard to believe. Stellar was now her mate. Stellar Snowpaw, her crush from the early stray days. Was she now Indigo Snowpaw? Ugh, this was far too confusing. She did love Stellar, of course - he was sweet and funny and caring. But she could never erase what had happened between her and Ash and she didn't want to. They would share that forever. But maybe that's what made Stellar a better choice - she could put it all behind her. Besides, Ash didn't love her. He'd made that quite clear and she wasn't going to beg for it from him. Her pride wouldn't let her. So there was really no dilemma to begin with.
Stellar was still talking, going on about needing a shoulder to cry on. Indigo turned in Ash's direction, not meaning to be rude. To be honest she didn't know what to say to Ash. 'I'll be there for you when you need it'? That was so cheesy. She couldn't say that. But then again, his little statement about needing a shoulder to cry on was kinda cheesy too. Indigo instantly felt guilty for thinking it but it was the truth, in her mind at least. She flashed Stellar a quick smile before turning back to Ash. But he was gone. Her heart sped up as she glanced around frantically for him and found nothing. Who was she kidding? Regardless of whether or not Ash loved her, she loved him. And she was being stupid by ignoring that and running off with Stellar. If she really did have any sort of feelings for Stellar she would tell him the truth - he didn't deserved to be played.
But Indigo was seemingly too selfish. If she couldn't have what she wanted she would take second-best even if that screwed everyone else. Of course, she wasn't looking at things that way but that's what she would see if she ever thought to remove the rose-colored glasses.

Stellar sighed. That was the cheesiest thing he could have ever said. He felt like punching himself. "Indigo... I'm sorry. That was cheesey." He smiled weakly, then he saw Ash walk away. Oh great, he had an enemy. He was just exspressing his feelings toward Indigo, but maybe it was wrong to do it right in front of Ash. He sure did seem angry when he trudged away.
"Do you want to go back to Ash? Because you can if you want. I'll just go run up a tree." He glanced over in Ash's direction, though he was far away now. "I was wrong for doing what I did in front of Ash. If you do go back, tell him I'm sorry." He sighed again, a single tear drifting down his face. His green eyes darted around the ground, thinking of something else to say. "I hope we can be friends. I just don't think we're right for each other. If I'm going to have to have enemies for having something I wanted with all my heart, it isn't worth it." He scampered away. Maybe he wasn't right for Indigo. Maybe Ash was the perfect man for her.

She could feel her eyes starting to water but she resolutely blinked the tears away and turned away from Ash. If he was going to be a big baby about all this than that was that and there was really nothing that she could do about it. At least, that's what she told herself. She blinked at Stellar's words before managing a small smile. "The nice kind of cheesy though," she said quietly, glancing down at her paws as she unsheathed and sheathed her claws, tearing the long grass. It gave her an awkward sort of pleasure and she was in no mind to deny it to herself. But then Stellar continued talking and she froze. What? No! No, she didn't want to go back to Ash! Well maybe a teensy tiny part of her did but she didn't actually want to. He'd just told her he didn't love her! And of course not, she barely knew him.
"Wh-what? I-I'm...okay-ay-" she managed to stutter, hating herself for sounding so not put together. The exact opposite of the whole cool, calm and poised look she always aimed for. Maybe there were special circumstances. She realized with a start that she was trembling: definitely not the appearance she'd been hoping for. How could either of them have had any feelings for her? She was a shaky orange emotional mess with crazy baggage and ups and downs. But then again, Ash hadn't liked her, she reminded herself. It was only Stellar that was so crazy. "No," she whispered quietly. "It's not your fault." She blinked. "I'm not going back. I-I..." What? What was she going to do?
She gulped, quieting down so Stellar could continue. But when he voiced the hope that they could still be friends her eyes widened as she finally grasped where this was going. "Wha-what?" The tears pricked her eyes again. "Are you breaking up with me?" she blurted stupidly, realizing at once that they hadn't really been 'together'. Only for a few minutes. She wanted to tell Stellar it was okay but then... he didn't think they were right for each other. So it wasn't a matter of him not wanting to mess things up - then she could tell him it wasn't his fault and everything could be okay. He didn't think she was right for him. Even though he'd just professed his love for her. What was she supposed to say to that? She wouldn't boast herself and why he should love her? After all, he was just coming to his senses. That was the plain truth of it.
Her eyes flashed angrily. What he mean it wasn't worth it? He wasn't prepared to be with her if it meant he would have an enemy. Yeah, he must of really loved her. She said nothing as he scampered off, only turned her back to him, anger flaring up at the injustice of it all. She had lost Ash for the chance to be with Stellar and then Stellar hadn't wanted her. She didn't know what she felt except that she felt so... duped. She was sick of both of them and she hated how she'd honestly believed that she could have a future with either of them. She'd obviously just been a toy to them - not worth any real risk or loss on their behalf. On Stellar's at least.
And Ash had never loved her.
That was the thought that repeated the most in her head.
She gave a half-sobbed shriek of confusion and anger and sprang off out of the dump, wanting to be away from the humanized area and it's metal walls which seemed to be closing in on her like a cage - limiting her freedom with every second and every breath she took. She couldn't stand it any longer. Any of it.
OOC: Poor Stellar. Poor Indigo. This is all becoming so tangled up. But it's a good plot lol.
