Reserved for: Indigo Reed sighed sadly as he entered the barn. Dandi had been right, it was ather boring. It wouldn't be boring if Dandi was here. He ahd spotted the cows, and a few horses. They'd be fun to chase around, but Reed wasn't up for it right now. He was sad he had yelled at his sister, and he was sad that everything he had yelled was the truth. When she is ready to apologize for being a brat, she'll find me. Reed was determined not to give into Dadni's childish behavior anymore. Mom and dad wouldn't, niether would he. So what if I've matured faster, at least I have and will grow up, unlike her. Reed found a nice pile of hay to snuggle down into, and he did making him self almost invisible. He sighed and tried not to think of the massive annoyance that was his sister.

Simple mistkaes. A thin orange tabby she-cat leapt up onto of a bale of hay in the field, her golden eyes surveying the terrain all around her. The grass rustled softly in the wind and a not too far a way a pair of cows mooed quietly from within their fenced-in pasture. How good it felt not to have to bend to such boundaries. Indigo Wintertrap was a free cat – albeit slightly too proud of such a fact as she never stopped thinking about it. She rolled her eyes at this mental observation and jumped down, landing smoothly and her paws and trotting over to the barn. She sniffed the door suspiciously.
Cat. Now she was curious. She glanced inside. Was there a new someone here for her to meet? ”Hello?” she called out with evident amusement, slipping inside the musty barn like a mere shadow on quick feet. It took a moment for her eyes to adjust to the gloom. Even when they had, she frowned, seeing no other cat. But she was certain she smelled someone – and it was not a faint scent either. She rolled her eyes as she realized that the scent trail lead to a bale of hay. Was the other cat… hiding? Not always one for respecting others’ wishes, Indigo trotted over quietly with a smirk. She placed her paws up on the pile and glanced over. ”Boo!”

Reed looked up, startled to see another cat. He had hoped slightly that it would be Dandi, coming to apoligize, but when he relaized it was someone else he wasn't to disappointed. He wasn't ready to even talk to Dandi yet. "Hello." He looked at the large she-cat a little nervously. she was so much bigger then he was. She didn't appear much older, but definatly bigger. "I'm Reed Sunseed, what's your name?" He smiled softly, even though he wasn't smiling on the inside. He sat up in the straw and he grinned a little. He was sort of nervous around other cats. Especially this one, a older she-cat. Sort of nerve racking for a young male.

Indigo blinked as the cat sat up. It was a kitten. She blushed, feeling terrible for trying to scare it. Still, it wasn't like she had done that great a job - this little tyke wasn't even afraid of her. Ooh she was a scary one. She grinned awkwardly. "Hey." She nodded. "Reed. Gotcha. I'm Indigo. Uh Wintertrap." She frowned slightly. What was a little kitten like this guy doing alone? Well, obviously there were kits on the streets but still. He was pretty young. She bit the inside of her cheek, scrutinizing him. Then she realized he might find this intimidating and stopped, blinking twice.
"So, uh, Reed? How did you end up a stray all alone?" Then a thought sturck her and she wanted to blush furiously with the obviousness of it. "Or are you the farmer's cat?" Sheesh, Indigo. She just had to think that every cat she saw was a stray like herself - even a little kitten! It was pretty messed up. But it wasn't that bad of an assumption. After all, it wasn't like anyone else was around. He could technically be a stray. It just wasn't very likely.
In her mind.

He sat up a little straighter. She's actually interested in talknig to me. He smiled. "It's nice to meet you Indigo." He sighed and decided to tell a short less depressing version of his story. "Well my original owner couldn't afford to keep me, so she gave me to a older lady. I wanted to see my sister, so I decided to escape." He smiled hopnig it would make his story seem accurate. "What about you?" He tried to dance away from the topic of Dandi. He really didn't want to re-live what he had said to his own sister. His baby sister.

Indigo resisted the urge to smirk at this sweet, polite little kitten. He was nice. It was just kinda... awkward. Indigo thought kittens were cute and all but she wasn't always sure how to act around them. When she was a kitten she'd hated being patronized so that was a big no no. But then she also hadn't liked it when adults treated her like she was a lot older and expected more of her. So all because she had been a particular kitten, Indigo found herself semi-clueless when it came to interacting with kittens. "It's, uh, nice to meet you too," she replied finally with a grin.
"You escaped eh?" Indigo asked, trying not to betray the spark of anger. This little tyke ran away from his home! She hadn't even done that - no she was abandoned. Ugh. This sucked big time. Her mind flitted back to her conversation with Ash in the forest. Why not be that Indigo? "Same here," she lied casually. "But I just wanted to get away. The whole 'Be free!' sorta thing." She smirked. "Soooo," she drawled softly, wanting to keep the conversation going because she was not good and coming up with things to talk to kittens about. She'd work with what Reed gave her.
"Found your sister yet?" she asked, tilting her head to the side as if she was extremely interested. Which she wasn't really. Wellm she was kinda interested in this little kitten that had managed to run off all alone. Just not extremely. Well, maybe. She'd never had guessed it about him, after all. but at the same time it bugged her. Which led her right back to 'kinda interested'.

Reed's mouth pulled down in the corners, as he nodded. "Yes I found her." He whispered it quietly. He felt the guilt and the sadness he had been pushing into the back of his head coming forward and welling up in front of him. He sighed and closed his eyes, attempting to get a grip. Reed toyed with a piece of hay, while he wondered if he should let her know why he escaped. he decide to seeing as the conversation wasn't progressing. "I only left my home because I had to find my sister. I was so worried about her. I really wanted to stay with my owner, but I couldn't stop thinking about Dandi." He sighed sadly. "Now i wish I just stayed home. i left a great home to find her, and...she let me down." He shuddered at the thought of this all being a big waste of time. That's what it was, a waste.

She grinned. "That's good then." But then she frowned, seeing how Reed didn't exactly look happy recounting this piece of information. What was she supposed to say? "What's wrong?" That sounded so, well, patronizing. Mommy-ish. And well Indigo might want to make sure Reed was alright she was not about to become his mom. She twitched, slightly uncomfortable but then felt stupid for feeling uncomfortable around a kitten. She blinked. He had only left to find his sister?
Even though she tried to push the feeling away, Indigo couldn't help but feel relieved. He hadn't set out on some journey to freedom like some superhero but had left because he needed to. So she wasn't like the most pathetic cat on the street. But she wasn't about to explain to him that she had lied. How exactly do you justify lying to a kitten? "Dandi? That's a nice name," she said with a small smile. "Different." Most cats she knew had names that were less human-ish. Dandi sounded ery different. What was a dandi? Her heart went out to Reed as he continued and she pushed the useless thoughts about Dandi's name away.
"Do you know how to get back? Do you know what your home was near, maybe I could help you find your way?" she suggested, not believing the words that were coming from her own mouth. Her tail curled around her back paws and she frowned. "If you don't mind me asking, Reed, what happened with you guys? Is she alone too now?" She didn't want to make him feel bad so she hastily added "It wouldn't be your fault or anything but just so I can keep an eye out for her maybe." If there another young kitten on the streets - well, there were probably many, but if this 'Dandi' was on the streets - then she could at least offer to maybe watch for her if it would make Reed feel better. though she was definately behaving uncharacteristically.

Reed sighed sadly, curling into a ball in the hay pile. "I have no idea how to get back. It took me forever to find this place, and that was when I was lost. I have no clue how to get back." Unlike Indigo, the mention of Dandi's name didn't sit well on his stomach. He sighed. "She got mad at me because I lost my temper after she refused to listen to me. I told her not to go to close to the river, and what does she do? She goes into the river! When I save her she doesn't even bother thanking me, and she thinks it's my fault and I mean." He frowned again. "I just lost my temper." He blushed slightly realizing he was babbling on about his problems, when Indigo probably didn't want to hear about them at all. "sorry." He whispered, the words felt toxic rolling off his tongue. They were the words Dandi had so harshly said 'Apology not accepted.' This flared Reed's anger, frustration, and sadness all over again.

Indigo smiled sympathetically but on the inside she had no clue what to do. Ah! Here was a kitten who was fighting with his sister and lost with no clue how to get home. Oh god. Oh god. Deep breaths, she reminded herself. She felt bad for Reed but her maternal instincts? Not exactly the greatest. "I could um help you look? Do you remember anything near your house? A park? A river?" she asked hopefully. Reed didn't seem to care too much about the home part though as he plowed straight into his fight with Dandi.
Indigo sighed. "I know you were looking out for her, Reed. That was good. Maybe she just felt embarassed and didn't like being told what to do so she was trying to prove to you that she was smart?" She shrugged. It sounded a bit like something she would have done as a kit, but saying that wouldn't likely help. "You're not at fault, Reed. Some of us just get frustrated and it's hard to remain calm. But Dandi's probably upset too. You should try and talk to her." She could not believe it. She was turning into one of those soft old queens that comforted kittens and got them to make up with each other.
Aaaaah!
No, she reminded herself, she was just being nice and trying to help out a rather sweet kitten. She didn't care if he was fighting with Dandi or not but if they made up then they could stick together and Reed wouldn't be alone and she wouldn't have to worry about him. That was the truth of the matter. Then she could just be on her way and forgot about this embarassingly mother-ish moment. She cringed.

Reed shrugged, but nodded to. "Your probably right." He sighed and settled himself down in the hay again, feeling more relaxed then he had before. "I don't remember much. Just that there were a lot of tall buildings near it." He shook his head sadly. "I'm sure it would be next to impossible to find." The older she-cats words comforted him slightly, but the pain and guilt was still ripping through him. He couldn't help but feel sad. He had no home, no family, and most likely no friends. He was basically alone, aside from Indigo, who seemed rather uncomfortable talking to him. He looked up, and forced a grin. "So how are you?" He desperately wanted to change the subject from him to someone or something else. Anything or anyone. It defiantly didn't matter to him, not right now at least.

Indigo gave a small grin. Honestly though, she had mustered up about as much enthusiasm and effort as was possible. Maybe you should stop trying so hard to work his life out for him, a little voice in her head suggested. Just treat him like a friend. She blinked. It was a good idea. She'd still try and keep an eye on him but if she acted like they were just friends she'd feel a lot more comfortable. After all, she really wasn't needed to play the 'mother' figure. Sheesh, she almost cringed just thinking it. How would she ever cope when she actually had kittens? Well, hopefully that would be a long way off in the future when she was all grown up. She smirked.
She sighed as Reed gave his description of his old home. "You're right," she agreed. "That could be pretty much anywhere." She sat down beside him, trying to think of good advice that could still be regarded as friendly and not motherly. "We-eeeell," she finally said. "Why don't you just stay here? I know you were happy and I know that you're young but the streets aren't that bad. I mean they can be dangerous but you seem pretty smart - pretty mature. I could show you how to hunt maybe though I kinda suck myself. But you should be good even if you just know where to scavenge from." Her brow furrowed. "Ooh, I got it! There's this place a bunch of humans go and get stuff - food I think. Well out behind they have garbage cans - I passed by-" She couldn't very well say 'when I was in the car about to be abandoned'. "-when I was coming here. I'm sure I could find it. If I show you that place and teach you how to get food from the trash you'd stand a much better chance of surviving." She grinned.

Reed smield brightly at Indigo's offer to help him out. "Thank, that would be great!' He remembered his manors. "Of course if your to busy, then I can teach myself." He didn't want to make the older she-cat hang out with him if she didn't want to. Hanging out with a cat way younger then you msut be pretty lame. He was simply guessing, clearly unaware of anything that happens when you grow older. Indigo wasn't very old, she was just older, and that was a big enough difference as far as he was concerned. He grinned slightly, and returned to otying with the hay. "I'm glad I met you." He blushe.d It wasn't because he was in lvoe with Indigo or anything. She just seemed like such a relief to him. She had come at the perfect time, and jsut seemed to listen. Weather she was interested or not. Reed didn't dare make eye contact, not until he knew how she took his last statemnt.

She chuckled. "Nah, I've got all the time in the world." She grinned at him. For some reason he was starting to seem less... annoying? Her technique of just treating him like a friend seemed to be working pretty well. Although he seemed so innocent and enthusiastic that it was easy to forget about that and remember how young Reed really was. He was definately mature for his age. Waaaay more mature than she had been anyway. "Say, how old are you, Reed?" she asked curiously.
"I'm glad I met you."
Awwwwwwww. Indigo felt herself smiling and trying not to smirk all at the same time. Okay so maybe kittens weren't so bad. "Thanks, Reed," she said, somehow managing not to giggle. "I'm glad I met you too." She couldn't hold it any longer. A small giggle escaped - but not a mean one. She winked at the kitten. "Alight so let's head to scavenge up some food cause that's your best bet. Hunting is not my forte," she said with a laugh.

Reed smiled and rose to his feet following her closely. "I'm two months old." He smiled at her reaction to his blunt statement. "Thank you." He giggled too, feeling like he belonged for once. he ahd always felt too mature around his siblings, but here he felt okay. Like he was with someone who didn't mind the fact that he viewed things with higher maturiy then most kittens his age. He trotted alnog side her, having to jog briskly to keep up with Indigo's long, much easier walknig strides. She was at least 3 times his length, so it was understandable that her strides would be much longer and faster.
