I'm tossing this together so that new people don't have to go through threads and threads of information when they join just to understand how to do things.

So here's how I'm going to do this: you have just created your account under the name of "cheesette". And you know nothing about carpe diem except that it's pretty active, it revolves around stray cats, and it's got really awesome skins. So where do you go first?

It would be a good idea to read the RULES first. They are pretty long, so if you are an experienced roleplayer, just briefly skim over them, since carpe diem is quite unique and will probably have rules you aren't familiar with.

If you've roleplayed scarcely in your lifetime, read them all, word for word, or you will get VERY confused. (Trust me. I made the mistake of thinking I was sooo coolio in my early days and I ALWAYS ended up getting in trouble and having to read that thing at some point on all the sites I joined.)

Visit the POINT SYSTEM thread to find out how you can get a colored name, all the things you can buy, how to earn points, and if you've never heard of them before, what they are.

Next, take a look around the site for a little while, just to get more comfortable with things- find out the general activity of the people, how people do things around here, and get familiar with the boards and such.

When you have a nice understanding of CD, you will go and create your character.

No, you may not name your character "cheesette". Reading the rules will prevent mistakes like this from happening, lol.

First place you visit? The CENCUS AND BANS thread. People ALWAYS skip this, and it's really annoying. There are certain restrictions up on the types of cats you can make to make sure things don't turn unbalanced, so when you are there, contemplate the type of cat you will make. When you're good to go...

You can take a look at the real APPEARANCES thread. It's in-depth and easy to understand (uses lots of pictures ) so when you are done there,

PERSONALITY TUTORIAL! Skim through it; it will help you in the long run, guarantee.

Alright, now finally you can read the CHARACTER CREATION thread. It will be a breeze if you looked through the last three threads- when you've read that, the form is in the header of the biographies board. Create your cat.

Then set your name to the cat's full one. You can also run over to the AVATARS thread and pick up one of the many pre-mades. While waiting for your bio to be accepted, play a few games in the GAMES AND CONTESTS board, or chat with us in the c-box at the bottom of the main page.

Okay, now that your bio has been accepted, go post your first post in the Old Road board!

Post headers are nice images or text that sit atop your IC posts. You can also add a few lyrics if your listening to music while writing.
