History: Jay was born into a human family in the town of Nenbrook. His mother, Autumn, was a beautiful brown-tabby she-cat whom Jay and his siblings loved very much. Their father was a stray cat by the name of Wind. He was all white, with amber eyes, that was all Jay and his siblings knew about Wind.
Growing up, the kittens often imagined what their father was like. Who he was, what he stood for . . . what he would say when they found him. Because they were going to find him. In fact, that was pretty much all that they thought about. They played games in which they were wandering the streets on their own, fighting off wild dogs or raccoons to save him. He was always so proud of them.
Autumn always looked on with careful, and unusually sad, eyes. Once, April (one of Jay's sisters) had asked their mother why she looked so sad. She had brushed them off. "Now never you mind, little one, run off and play." April had accepted it, but it made Jay slightly suspicious. Why wouldn't she tell them? Oh, well, perhaps they could all cuddle later to make it better.
Whatever "it" was.
As the months wore on, neither Jay nor his siblings ever determined exactly what the look in Autumn's eyes was. In truth, Autumn was hiding something from them--their father was dead. Long dead, he had been hit by a car the night she was going to tell him that she was having his kits. Autumn believed that if he had lived, Wind would be proud of his children, and so she let them believe in their fantasies of finding him.
However, she never honestly thought that they would act on their imaginations. In fact, before they could, all of the kits but Jay and April were given away to other homes. They were dearly missed, but April and Jay decided not to let their loss stop them. They would find Wind. Even though they had never met their father, through their imaginations and what they thought of him he had become their hero, their idol. He was what they wanted to be.
The two siblings began to plot their escape. Well, not escape, their search. They were going to search for their father. They would find Wind, and just like they had dreamt of, they would make him proud. Their other siblings were not there, but they would be with them in spirit . . . right?
So the night that they decided to set out, April didn't want to. She refused. It was too scary for her, but Jay didn't want to stop. April was reluctant to let Jay go, but he managed to convince her. They both sat outside for a while before Jay finally said goodbye, before he finally left Nenbrook.
Jay still hasn't found his father, once and a while he checks in with April (but never Autumn, she thinks he ran away). She's very enthusiastic and happy to see that he is alive. April is being sent to a new home soon, and Jay is sad, but he knows that when he finds his father he can return to Autumn and he can be home again.
But what he doesn't know is that he isn't going to find his father . . .
Personality: Ah, Jay. Such a sweetheart. He's innocent, about as innocent as you can get. He likes to believe in good, and that no matter what everyone will have a second chance at life . . . a chance to fix all of their mistakes should they wish for such an opportunity.
He's lovable, and he loves quickly. Kindness is his first attitude, and after that joy. All he wants is for others to be happy, in fact he puts everyone else before himself. As long as all others are happy, his own mood does not matter.
Another thing about Jay is that he is loyal to a fault. He will do anything for someone he cares about. He trusts too easily and is easily manipulated. Unfortunately, he doesn't identify this in himself, and is rather vulnerable because of this.
Jay trusts humans and other cats a lot because the people took care of Autumn as well as him and his siblings for a good while. He doesn't understand the dangers that can be posed by some humans. He trusts cats because . . . well, because he's Jay. That is the honest answer.
He is also rather under-cautious of other animals, though he is wary of raccoons and dogs. Mostly because of his and his siblings play games, and their "epic battles" with those two species. Sometimes he re-enacts those "epic battles" with just himself playing, everyone else is in his imagination. He still has fun, though, Jay isn't one to complain about anything, really.
Although he won't admit it, Jay has often felt like his siblings are better than him. Maybe it's because the competition to make their father proud was always strong? Though it was never an actual competition, he couldn't help but to compare himself to them. He secretly hopes that by finding Wind before any of them, he can be the best at something, his father will be the proudest of him. That's all he really wants, after all--to be accepted.
