History: Nocturne Snowflake, a sweet and comforting name. But sadly, Nocturnes past is not one of sweetness, or comfort. Nocturne was born in a breeder’s home, with many other Siamese kittens. She was born on Halloween day, to a litter of only three kittens. Nocturne was the largest, and last to be sold. She was finally purchased three days before Christmas. Her new owners were a young couple with a young daughter, only a toddler. Nocturne had been a Christmas present for the little girl, and certainly was a good one. She was loved very much by her family, and was well fed, groomed, and pampered. She was, though, far from a lazy house cat. As a young kitten, she was very curious, and loved to play in her family’s garden. She was an independent cat, and had no real friends that were of the same species. Her friends were the flowers, and the insects. The world, so full of color and wonder, made Nocturne a rambunctious young explorer. Life was not always this way for Nocturne. When she was only six months of age, her family was forced to move away from the cozy home she had come to love sharing with them. Much to Nocturnes discontent, her family was not able to take Nocturne with them. She was taken to an animal shelter. Nocturne was horrified by the sights she saw there. There were many other cats, many of them sickly and injured. Nocturne was naturally shy toward these cats, and found herself constantly isolated. After two and a half weeks are t the shelter, Nocturne found herself eavesdropping on a conversation going on between two stray males in the cages above her. They were talking of how cats usually didn’t last but a month before they were handed over to the killers. These people allegedly killed the cats if they stayed in the shelter too long and were not adopted. Nocturne was horrified by this, as she had nearly been there a month. Would they really execute her? A sweet, pure-bred young cat? Nocturne did not get the chance to find out. Three days after hearing the conversation, Nocturne was adopted. The woman who adopted her was large, and very loud. The first night Nocturne stayed in the woman’s house, she was closed into a small room, and was given only dry kibble. Nocturne awoke the next morning sad, and terribly thirsty. For the next three months. Nocturne lived as a hermit in the lady’s home. She was never allowed to go outside, and was kept in the same small closet at night. She never had enough food or water. Also, more than anything, Nocturne longed for the feel of sunshine warming her fur, grass beneath her paws, and wind on her whiskers. When Nocturne whined, she was yelled at, in terrible tones and words she did not understand. Nocturne knew if she stayed, she would surely go mad. One day, when the lady was out shopping, Nocturne found her way up high onto the bathroom medicine cabinet. There was a small window there, which was always kept open, no more than three inches. Nocturne had already grown quite tall, and had a hard time slipping through. She lost a large patch of fur in the process. That night, Nocturne traveled far away from that terrible place, until she was in a city she had never been in before. There were many cats, and many new things to explore. Liberated, Nocturne set out to start her new life. She felt that she could take care of herself. She had always been a decent hunter of bugs and birds, and the outside world was her place. She was ready to start over.
Personality: Nocturne Snowflake is a cat that takes some time to understand. At first glance, you may see a quiet, soft spoken, gentle cat. But to see the true Nocturne, you’ll have to dig much deeper than that. A cat of many colors, one might say. Nocturne is a very calm cat, with a peaceful disposition. Truthfully, she longs for nothing more than a life where she can tranquilly watch the beauty of nature and enjoy the world first-hand. But often her own emotions and complex thoughts will not allow this. She is easily stressed out, and can sometimes be very dramatic. Her emotions are strong, and are often not easy to handle. When Nocturne feels strongly for something or someone, it is real, and it is serious. Nocturne never finds herself in easy or simple relationships. This stems from a deep issue of mistrust. Due to being abandoned and abused by her past owners, Nocturne often has a hard time trusting other cats. She does not make friends easily, though she is one of the friendliest cats you could ever meet. She is not a huge fan of interaction, and finds a safe, close, platonic relationship to be the best. At this point in her life, she is not searching for any kind of true love or romance. She has only begun to find the cats she cares for as only friends. She does sometimes wonder what it would be like to be a mother. The thought of caring for tiny, delicate lives excites her very much. When Nocturne does talk with other cats, she speaks with eloquence and cleverness. She is always precise with her words, and is easy to get along with, if you are having a conversation with her. Nocturne is able to persuade cats to see her beliefs most of the time, and if not, cats find it impossible to argue with such a kind, open-minded cat. Though Nocturne is not a coward, she despises violence. She finds it distasteful to taint the world with blood and hatred. If ever she found the reason, and it was absolutely impossible to avoid, Nocturne would fight to defend herself. Otherwise, she is a peaceful creature. Nocturne has a bad habit of not expressing her feelings well. She longs to speak her mind and be heard, but do to her overpowering emotions, it is hard. When she tries to speak her mind, she finds herself getting overly emotional, and very often, angry. Nocturne does not mind fading into the background at times, but when she is ready to say something, she will not tolerate being ignored. This is because she talks very little, and when she does speak, she only says things she feels are of the utmost importance. The only exception is when she is talking with her friends, which are far and few between. She is able to carry on a light conversation with very few cats. Of Nocturnes loves, her greatest has got to be the senses. To be able to see something so beautiful, or touch something soft, taste something sweet, hear a soft melody, or smell the fresh air, these are the things she cherishes. Nocturne is a cat that lives completely for the moment. She believes that the reason she lives is simply to live. To keep moving and see another beautiful day. To soak in as much of the world around her as she can is her goal. Making relationships and having conversations and learning gossip are rarely on her mind. She prefers being withdrawn, alone with herself, analyzing the beauty of the things around her. Nocturne is the cat equivalent of a rainbow; truly painted many colors.
