Hey, where did you come from, soaked by a rain like this?Wandering along a shadow-cool alleyway, Thor's sleek, black-ticked coat blended in quite well with the old, slightly dilapidated brick buildings; some smoke-charred and others just speckled like an impressionists painting by the composition of the brick itself. Pupils slitted shut, she sat down by one of the rough, rugged corners, her neck arched and she looked out over the new, unfamiliar territory. Was it lonely being a kitten, just watching passively on your own? All she saw was an empty alley, all she smelled was stale. It was slightly boring, but a little lonely. It was too quiet as well-- this part of town was abandoned even by the birds, if not by the mice and rats that harbored themselves in the bowels of this forgotten section of town. But what was she to complain, she'd be on her own before. It could be done. She could eat, sun, and be happy. Getting up, she walked over to what looked like an old cart, complete with a faded-red and aged-yellow white-striped canopy. Leaping up and unsettled clouds of dust, Thor leaped up to the canopy, which was well age speckled and almost rough under her paws, and she made it to the top of a building. The cement was warm under her pads, and the cat stretched amply, pacing around the perimeter of the building, avoiding a blatant hole where a part of the ceiling had fallen through. Not wanting to risk another ceiling collapse, she made her way across the broken and perhaps unsturdy roofs, looking for something she could deem more worth her time. Suddenly getting mad, getting lonely and showing weakness.Coming upon a nice, wooden building with a fenced-in balcony on top, Thor quickly scaled a gently-sloping ladder down to ground level, where suddenly things because a hassle. The main street was crowded and clobbered by people-- their large, unruly feet dangerous in packs, so Thor made her slight self scarce as fast as she could. Small children screeched and talked in their high voices, earning an ear flattening and a hiss to herself from Thor, even though it wouldn't be "appreciated" properly. Honestly! she thought to herself. They'd get what they wanted if they shut up and were good, in my opinion. Useless, spoiled little kits. They don't know what's reallyunfair if it stared them in the face. The cat then wandered back out, tail raised high and slightly bristling as she walked with purpose towards nowhere in particular. An open fish market looked increasingly appetizing, and Thor wandered over to inspect the leftover but still prime meat that humans didn't want, for some reason, after it had fallen to the ground. Why, it wasn't even covered in dirt. Thor crouched down behind the corner of the stand, and nibbled at a nice, thinly-sliced piece of what tasted a bit like spicy chicken. What a delicious type of meat.. probably something that can't be hunted normally. Maybe a fat cow, she mulled it over in her mind. I’m going to use that water and this rain to make a new flower grow. As she was licking her lips of the last traces of the delicious, free meal, a little human wandered towards her, sticky hands outstretched, little legs overtaxed with its excitement. A flashback of the [slightly older] kid in the hay-covered house came back, letting the tense she-cat relax for a second. But then she was brought back by the sticky hands, the unintelligible babble, the little feet that could be matched by only two of her paws. A very young human. It was the very young and very old that were the most dangerous.
Ears flattening and tail lashing and as bristled as it could get, she aimed one strike at the child's bared hind leg, and met it with a long lash, the kid falling down out of surprise and wailing, creating a distraction among the other humans, and letting Thor escape at a leisurely pace instead of a full-out gallop. She found herself in another street, this one populated by a quieter crowd without children, and instead had luxurious, brightly-colored baubles and fabrics that caught Thor's eye wherever she looked. Blinding, in a way.
Leaping on top of what appeared to be a visual scent-marker for humans, it proved to be thick enough to perch on, if a little thin for a long-term look-out. A few eyes spotted her, but it was secluded for the most part. She sighed, and lay down, taking in the scents and sounds now that there weren't any dangerous human feet around to be a hazard.
Cat smelled fresher here, all kinds; toms and kittens and queens and more. She mentally prepared her for trouble. It usually followed her around somehow, but she was ready to trump this alley and make her mark.
There were more than enough mice and rats to go around. It would be worthwhile.

The cold that was tainting the air was very soothing and at the same time downright annoying. The dark tabby cat streaked through running people and wound her way through Shire market like a snake.
Not many
people chose to be out in weather like this. The sky was an overcast gray with dark clouds, Alpha geussed a storm was moving quickly to the market. Cobblestone streets. They felt smooth under her paws and smelled of a garden; people were tapping their feet over the ground talking into small plastic chips in hands.
Screams of
'buy my mutton, it's so fresh.' And, 'my flour is the best for cakes!' The tabby laughed quietly to herself and pondered if the humans had any money left for pleasentries like cake. Everyone was so goddamn horribly off, she had to admit, the economy sucked.
A kick
in the ribs woke Alpha up from her daydreams. A man in a long, dark overcoat was standing over her, yelling in gibberish. She could make out some of it, he was yelling along the lines of: "Get the hell out of my way, dumb cat!" And, "Your in the way! Move it!" She hissed and stumbled away, her side hurt terribily.
After scouting
the immediate area, she found a nice spot to rest under a sign of some sort. She had just settled herself when she scented another cat nearby.
"Look, whoever you are, I'm not here to hurt you or to do anything stupid."
Alpha jumped to her feet and stood, hair on end. Hissing into the darkness.
ooc; sorry so crappy, kinda museless. :P

Jerked awake by a rude meow, Thor swung her head around, finding a chestnut-brown and white tabby on her feet, ready to fight. The ticked tabby herself controlled the impulse to leap to her feet, but her dark, black-tipped tail twitched in annoyance. How in ratcrap's name did my reputation get here already? And here I thought I could start fresh!
The cat lazily yawned, thin pupils and wide gold irises fized on the angry cat. Boy she was sure making a fuss, and the parallels drawn between the two cats was making Thor quite angry at the cat, and in turn herself.
"Well, aren't your pads a little scorched. What a polite greeting to the new cat in town," The Abysinnian commented dryly. She could totally pull this before something started. It could be fun. She was still peeved by the irony between this she-cat's actions and what was rolling off of her tongue.
"Well, well, I wasn't intending on roasting you for lunch, but on this sidewalk it might just marinade quite nicely with your punk attitude. Say, have you a name to go with that spitting image of you?" she said, not unkindly but certainly not a friendly tone.
Truth be told, she was eerily reminded of herself and did. not. like it.

misery is only what you have.
The dank
alleyway suggested muggings and theives. Of course Alpha was one of those so she felt at home in this desolate abode. Her green eyes scanned her surroundings, looking for anything that might tell her where her opponent was.
Golden eyes
stared lazily at Alpha from above, the yawn was annoying and at the same time hinting a challange. But Alpha forced herself to sit and calm down; civil almost. But then again, if no one was going to be decent, then why should she bother with it?
"Well, aren't your pads a little scorched. What a polite greeting to the new cat in town,"
The tabby with emerald eyes looked up at the speaker, a golden brown cat with exotic markings on her pelt. A hint of an icey edge on the cat's tounge made Alpha squint and stand all the more taught; quivering.
"Well, well, I wasn't intending on roasting you for lunch, but on this sidewalk it might just marinade quite nicely with your punk attitude. Say, have you a name to go with that spitting image of you?"
The feline showed no emotion in her words, just an ironic dryness in her tone. This irritated Alpha and she found herself speaking without thought.
"I'd like to see you try to catch the sidewalk first. You have to be pretty fast to do that. Also, my 'spitting image' has something to say to your face."
Alpha has no hate or rudeness in her voice, just a comment with maybe a dash of salty-saracasam. After some debate she added.
"Mayhap after all this lovely talk were having about apperences and food, you could tell me what buisness you have here.
Alpha sat down and winced as her sore side moved against the pain. She gritted her teeth, she wouldn't show this feline the pain; pain ment weakness. And she- ouch. She'd moved again.
but then again, what do you have?

"Mayhap after all this lovely talk were having about appearances and food, you could tell me what business you have here.
"My, my! And here I thought this was a public area! I myself like to sun myself, and here I am doing just that when you came in. Honestly, you're making me look criminal," Thor replied, a hint of a southern accent and sarcastic-type worry filled her voice. She licked her chest fur embarresssdly to complete her act. This is fun and aggravating at the same time. I like it.
Wrapping her tail around her and straightening up, she walked with confidence over to the tabby. "Well, perhaps your spitting image would like to introduce itself?" she suggested sweetly.
Thor was in a lazy mood, but when it came to fighting she was pretty fierce and knew her stuff. But hopefully it wouldn't have to come to that. It was too nice a day and a rooftop to spoil it with yowls and caterwauls and lumps of fur.

I am lost, I am worng, Who says I care, I don't die?
Somewhat surprised by the golden cat's sudden lapse into a southern tone, Alpha listened quietly as the feline spoke; with care and slight saracasam. Ugh, so much of this world is saracastic now. Alpha thought to herself before answering the cat.
"My, my! And here I thought this was a public area! I myself like to sun myself, and here I am doing just that when you came in. Honestly, you're making me look criminal,"
But she
wasn't really surprised by accent anymore; she herself picked them up quite easily. Thier taste lingering in her mouth, tainting her words. Then the feline asked if her 'spitting image' had a name. Alpha considered for a moment before amswering.
"Me, I'm called Alpha. I was named for the star Akaa; brightest in the constellation Phoenix. And you, my dear?"
Alpha looked questioningly at the golden cat, her eyes holding no hostility or menace. She sort of liked this cat, it was like looking into the face of the truest mirror in the world.
Creepy.
Forver I lie, surrounded by the past that will never leave.

"Alpha? What a spunky name, I like it. I'm also named after a celestial being. My name's Thor, Thor Hawkeye. Like the god of thunder." she said pleasantly, tail curling neatly around her paws. She glanced upwards as a large helicoptor buzzed over head like a large, annoying human fly. She winced a little as the noise started vibrating into the building, but sat straight up afterwards, cleaning her shoulder absent mindedly.
"Are you a new face here as well?" she asked, golden eyes still somewhat emotionless, but not containing any negative emotion. This cat was befuddling her, in being almost like a clone of herself, if not on the outside, on the inside for sure. She might be able to live with this, and regarded the other cat neutrally.

we're all in the mood for a melody,
"Alpha? What a spunky name, I like it. I'm also named after a celestial being. My name's Thor, Thor Hawkeye. Like the god of thunder."
Alpha purred
in amusement, 'spunky name', huh? Well in case Thor hadn't noticed, her name wasn't exactly on the top ten list either. Alpha scuffed her paw along the cobblestone floor, her eyes still fixed on Thor. The golden cat asked Alpha is she was new around here, and Alpha looked at the other feline closer.
Thor's eyes
held traces of hostility, but who's didn't nowadays? But also some deep curiosity and maybe annoyance? But Alpha probably misinterpereted Thor's feelings, because Al wasn't very observant.
She sneezed
as a butterfly flew lazily in front of her face; hues of the loveliest cyan and blue tinted the butterfly's wind in streaks and dots. Mezmerizing and enchanting, not the best of combinations; Alpha thought sourly of nights spent wasted.
"Relatively."
Alpha finally said, answering Thor's question.
"I was dumped here about nine months ago; dunno, time's easily lost track of 'round these parts. How about you?
and you've got us feeling al right.

"Time's an illusion, I'll say. I'm new here, but this town looks promising, especially as far as mice go, or so I hear. I honestly just wandered in a couple of weeks ago, but as you said," she said, blinking slowly against the sun's rays. It decided to come out, and glowed appreciatively against her coat. "It's only an approximation." The light also reflected menacingly-- or so Thor seemed to perceive-- against Alpha's green eyes. She didn't seem to be any more open than the ticked cat herself. Whether it was true coldness or just a barrier, Thor didn't know. A partner in crime she could use, someone to back her up.. but it could go the other way just as easily. Caution was good.
"If you don't mind telling me, what's your story? About getting on the streets that is. Every cat has one," she commented, her neutral eyes warming slightly, with curiosity. She was impressed with this cat so far, volleying her every move as if it truly were one of the human's fancy glass panes.

No need to To say goodbye;
When the
sun finally decided to grace the two felines with it's presence, they were both pleased by the warmth. Alpha noticed that in the halo of light Thor's eyes glowed a warm butterscotch; opaque and creamy at the same time.
Alpha liked
Thor's metaphor for time; "like an illusion". She nodded as Thor spoke and was still nodding when Thor dropped the cautious approach. She turned curious, asking Alpha about her past; Alpha didn't mind sharing her story, after all, it wasn't much of a story.
"If you don't mind telling me, what's your story? About getting on the streets that is. Every cat has one,"
She thought it over for a moment then said slowly, trying to remember the beginning, the very moment...
"My mother left with some tomcat. They left me and my brother, Phoenix, alone."
At this she glanced at Thor, waiting for a reaction; when none came she continued.
"Some human picked us up, and drove us to a klinik."
Alpha stumbled over this word she'd only ever heard a few times.
"You know the place, where humans take you before you get sent away? Well my brother and me went to different homes. My owner died, I got booted to some son-in-law; didn't like cats. I was dumped here. You're right though, this place has plenty prey, and when you are'nt in a hunting mood, there is always trash."
Alpha waved absently with her tail towards a pile of rotting food, crap to her personally, but food to others. "How 'bout you? Yours has got to be more interesting then mine."
I can see Your halo !!

"Hm.. I've never heard of this klinik, but it sure does sound like ratfester. You did get to meet your brother, so I suppose that's the uppity side of a rather down world, ain't it?" she added, a gruff impression of a smile on her face. She wasn't usually nice and sweet and that sickly-sweet, emotional cat. But today was a new day and a new town.
"How 'bout you? Yours has got to be more interesting then mine."
"Well, I didn't know I had a family 'till I realized that cats are born in families. I got a few pictures of what my Ma and brothers and sisters musta looked like, but I was on my own for nearly all I could remember. Although I met a very nice human family, but there were no kliniks there, but there were other big, awful places. There was one called a hearth that I nearly birned my pelt off in. Whatever they keep it for. Who knows, it feels good to finally talk about this to another cat. Perhaps this is why humans are always making such a racket in those whiny, pitying voices.
"They were almost like a first family, before I moved on. As far as humans can go; they tend to be clumsy and horridly dense. I mean, how do you think all that trash gets there, you know?" she said, laughing a bit at the thought.
Sitting up and stretching, Thor started to walk along the rooftop. "All this talk about food is making me hungry; I haven't eaten in a while, so uh, do you wanna come grab a mouse or two?" Thor managed. She wasn't sure if just hunting between two cats was much fo an awkward thing, as far as mates went, but she felt it was only polite.
Polite, and ever-changing thing I well never understand. It's so much easier just to be by yourself, but this is strange and new, and not entirely bad. I'm curious.

my life would suck without you
Alpha listened attently as Thor mused about her life, she told Alpha about her supposed family. The way Thor said it sounded like a curse; funny, Alpha thought to herself, she has never talked about this. She could tell by the glint in Thor's eye that it was a relief to free herself from the burden of knowladge.
"They were almost like a first family, before I moved on. As far as humans can go; they tend to be clumsy and horridly dense. I mean, how do you think all that trash gets there, you know?" Alpha laughed a little with Thor as she noted how horribly clumsy and dense humans were. She thought back to her caretakers at the klinik, thinking of them made her think of her brother, and that hurt.
After a moment, Thor stood up from her sitting position, the sun slanting off her golden pelt like a piece stained glass. Her movements were fluid, gracefull; Alpha noticed this with a stab of envy, her own motions were marred by constant clumsy trips and stumbles. Her brother had called her a 'klutz'. "All this talk about food is making me hungry; I haven't eaten in a while, so uh, do you wanna come grab a mouse or two?" Thor asked a bit hesitantly.
"Sure," Alpha said. Wondering if hunting with another cat was normal, she'd only ever seen solo hunts. She wasn't very social yet, having just settled in. She was glad she'd met another cat, after Tempest she decided this place was pretty friendly.
Moving swiftly behind Thor, Alpha scented the air carefully. She was in no mood to mess up in front of another feline. She smelled something big behind a can of trash, and slid into her hunter's crouch, slinking over the damp cobblestone and pounced.
"Ahhh!" Alpha screamed as she landed on the back of a small dog. (Well small as dog's went, but huge compared to her). She scrambled for footing then dropped off the small chihauhau's back and onto the ground already running. She streaked past Thor and yelled in dismay, "Ohmygod, run! It's a dog, a mean dog!" She felt so bad for making this stupid mistake, she felt so, so, so idiotic!
Oh my god, I'll never live this down; Thor must think I'm such a stupid, silly excuse of a cat.

Thor was pleased that Alpha accepted her offer. Perhaps it wasn't so uncommon after all. She followed Alpha, trotting around the corner and scenting the air. She was slgithly puzzled-- she didn't smell anything that smeleld remotely edible, but she followed Alpha anyways. Perhaps she knows a good place to hunt and is just getting to it. That must be it. It feels so... different, not to be making decisions. Perhaps I will take the lead when we catch something; the mice around here are probably only half a meal, for one cat that is.
"Ohmygod, run! It's a dog, a mean dog!"
"A dog, huh? It looks our size, C'mon, lets send it home with its tail between its' legs!" she yowled, her eyes glinting excitedly as she crouched, and leapt towards the dog from a shadow, aiming for its face with claws extended.
Thor was throwing her thunder bolts, as some had said her fighting was like. And life was good. Something familiar in a new town was always good. With all the dominating she did of other alleyways, it made her blood boil excitedly to get back into the swing of things here. Her muscles only complained a little bit from not being used.
"Aww, you're such a tiny little spat. Don't talk big if all ya got is a yappy mouth," she snarled at it, and then called back to Alpha, "C'mon! If he asked for it, I think he's gonna get a two-against-one fight, am-I-right?"
Thor wasn't sure though, and could only afford a galnce back. Alpha's fear scent had wafted past her when she bolted back. Was she frightened, or only startled? Not every cat, Thor supposed, hid her fear-scent out of pride when she was startled.
But then again, not every cat had a pride complex like Thor did. Well, at least she was getting somewhere.
So far, so good.
