It was a warm day for the springtime, and Soul was glad. He hated the spring showers, hated rain in general, so it was nice that the sky was finally showing him some nice weather after weeks of clouds and the gloom that came with it. Hopefully everyone's spirits would go up with the sun.
Stopping in his tired trek, the golden tom stretched before yawning wildly, letting the sun have a calming effect on him. The sun, now that star was awesome. His favorite, no doubt. The trail he was currently walking up was open-topped, with a canopy of trees on either side of him but not above, leaving him to soak up as much vitamin D as he saw fit.
He began to pad forward again, but soon the trees narrowed until, as the ferns and undergrowth began to widen out once more, they stopped altogether, and Soul had to gasp at the sheer warmth that greeted him.
Wildflowers. Everywhere.
It was a huge meadow tucked quietly away in the woods, hidden to most of everyone except the most curious of cats (which was him). Stretched far across the tall grass that was swaying with the slight breeze were dandelions and other various sun-kissed foliage, leaving him stunned and breathly before he finally shook his head, reaching out with a paw and eventually slowly walking into the dream-like clearing, stopping when he hit the middle.
Small, summerlike white butterflies fluttered from flower to flower, and he snapped playfully at one the approached a little to close, his eyelids lowering a few centimeters until the huge yawn attacked him once more, causing him to fall down on his side, tail flicking slowly back and forth.
He was asleep in seconds.

The big yellow orb called the sun beat down on Melody’s white back. Her red eyes peered forward, she passed by trees and scampering creatures. What you couldn’t think you knew was that all of these things made some sort of noise that distracted her like crazy. With every new sound came a new colored shape, the crunch of the underbrush under her white fuzzy paws made a brown squiggly shape appear before her eyes. Any noise that had to do with trees or plants like that, makes a green triangle that fades away after a few seconds. She absolutely hated her colors and she wanted them gone. She growled, but this did her no good for it just made a yellow triangle flash before her eyes and she winced. She looked down, oh god how she wished she were normal.
As she walked through the forest, she was content and happy. As she rambled on through the forest a vole scampered out in front of her, it made a brown zigzag show up and she closed her eyes. After a while, the colors gave her a headache. She bent down into a low crouch and closed her eyes tightly and tried to tune out the noises and wished her colors would just disappear. She reopened her eyes and the wind blew through the trees and bam a green triangle showed up out of nowhere. She sighed and ran through the forest. She was blind sighted for just a moment and then she could see again. Spots kept showing up out of random. Melody burst out into a calm meadow and breathed out. She started to ignore the colors and she focused on the creature that lay in front of her.
Melody realized that it was a cat. As she squinted longer she figured out that the cat is a tom. She neared him and realized that he was asleep, she tried to be quiet so as not to wake him. She closed her eyes, realizing that if he did wake up and see her red eyes he would run away and she wanted to have a civilized conversation, but of course she wouldn’t because she was too quiet. Mel did notice that he was an orange tabby and about her age. She opened her eyes and his breaths made tiny little blue blotches appear in front of her. She liked blue. She purred, but backed up, still not wanting to wake him up.

The name for the slowly coming warmth had a name in Phantom's mind, and that name was 'Spring.' Although she couldn't remember any of her previous life, she knew Spring was a beautiful time just from observation. Perhaps suffering from memory loss wasn't such a bad thing--if it meant experiencing something as wonderful as this all over again for the first time, she would be happy.
Winter had been an interesting experience, and though it wasn't her favourite, the snow had been fascinating. She could have lived without the frigid breezes, though. Even with her fairly long silver fur the wind had gotten to her. On the rare nice days, she had quite enjoyed herself. Phantom still hadn't made many friends, interacted with any cats. She'd found herself an ancient tree tucked away in the woods that served as a nice place to stay. All she wanted was to remember who she was--there was hope in her that it might tell her what to do next with her life.
So far, it didn't look like her memory was coming back.
That fact made Phantom sad, but she didn't want to stay too disappointed. She was young, she knew that much, and a voice in the back of her mind frequently told her to enjoy life. It wasn't like she didn't try, she just hadn't come across another cat in a long time. Of course, she couldn't give herself credit for trying to find someone else, because she hadn't.
Phantom sighed from her perch on the tree limb, and looked down. The forest floor was pretty, greens and browns and other earthy tones covering the area, interrupted by the odd blooming flower. And she'd thought that the bare winter trees covered in snow were beautiful, if in their own eerie way.
Perhaps she should go for a run. Her legs were starting to feel sore from lack of use, as she'd been sitting on that tree limb for quite a while. Yes, a run sounded good right about then. With quick and fairly graceful movements, Phantom found herself at the bottom of the tree. She stretched, and then started up at a steady pace. Slowly she started to go faster, until she was sprinting at full speed. Air blew through her fur, cooling her down, and she couldn't help but remind herself once again how much she loved 'Spring.'
There was a sudden, but familiar, break in the trees and Phantom went hurtling through. She'd been to this beautiful meadow plenty of times. In the winter there was an odd chill to it that fascinated her, in the Spring it seemed a lot less . . . creepy. She was about halfway through the area when the scent of another cat registered in her mind. No--wait, two other cats. Phantom's heart started to beat faster. Her head whipped around in the direction of the scent, and she watched wide-eyed. One cat was just an orange blob, barely visible behind the tall grass, and the other was white, watching the sun-coloured cat. Odd.
Should she approach? She wasn't always the best in situations that involved talking to others, but once she got talking it became easier. It seemed that way, anyhow. With slow but deliberate steps, Phantom walked up to the two cats. "H-hi," she said tentatively. "I haven't seen you here b-before . . . is this your first time here?"

ooc: Watch out for soul, he flirts like you've never seen xP And Storm, don't forget to bolderize speech!
Dozing in the sun, for a cat, was just the best.
Sometimes, Soul was honestly sure he'd never been so relaxed in his life. He wasn't complete asleep, Soul never went into really deep sleeps, but it was nice all the same to get some warm shuteye in the fortected presense of the sun.
That is, until he heard the footsteps of another cat, and caught the scent to find that she was absolutely and positively female.
He let out a low purr.
The she-cat still didn't seem to notice that he wasn't entirely asleep, so he played along, keeping his soft breathing slow and even and watching through barely opened eyes. All he saw mostly was what looked like one damn soft white pelt, but then something red entered his vision, and he found himself one-sidedly gazing into the scarlet eyes of an albino.
She purred slightly and backed away, and he was just about to make his wakefulness known, when suddenly Soul heard a tumbling noise, amber eyes shooting open to catch sight of a silver blur as she- another girl, his lucky day- fell through the underbrush and then stood a little straighter, looking uncertainly towards him and the other cat. She took a few steps forward until she stood before them, and Soul still didn't lift himself out of his lounging position, instead watching through narrowed eyes. She didn't look dangerous, but you never know- he'd been caught by a few maneaters one too many times. Fitting.
"H-hi," He heard her soft voice greet them, "I haven't seen you here b-before . . . is this your first time here?"
After another second, the ginger tomcat finally, with a tired moan, pulled himself sluggishly off the ground until he was face to face with the silver cat while still keeping the white one within his vision. And as far as confidence goes, it's still better to be safe than sorry, so he backed away a few steps before sitting down, scratching an ear with his back foot in a drowsy motions before taking both girls into his sight and trowing on a dazzling smile.
"Yep. I'm Soul, by the way, but you can call me soulmate." Came his favorite pick-up line. She seemed timid, and the white one hadn't spoken yet, so he turned to glance at her, only finally being hit with the force of the red depths.
Roses. Rubies. Blood.
Oh damn.
The albino looked about his size, attractive in her own sense but slightly frightening by her pale nature. The other cat was a little younger than both, so with meaningful looks at the both of them he spoke again.
"Alright, first things first. Names?"

Of all things that seemed to enter her mind, her colors, the sounds, the sun beating down on her medium-length white fur, the first thing that seemed to pop into her little head was that she loved spring. It was so warm and a nice break from the frigid and awful days of winter. Melody didn’t enjoy staring at the male cat. Some would think it to be ‘creepy’. Mel backed off a little bit, but still keeping her red eyed gaze on the orange tabby. She squinted her eyes as the sun hit them. When she moved back, the sun had suddenly become much brighter and forceful. She growled to herself, which she did quite often. But, in a sense, you could say that Melody was ‘happy’.
As the orange tom breathed the darker-than-normal-blue splotches dared to prance into her vision. When she was a kit, and she didn’t know that the colors were inside of her head, she used to paw at them. The humans called her ‘disabled’ while the other cats in the shelter called her freak, because she used to talk about how one cat’s name was red and the other gray with blue stripes. She hated the word ‘freak’, it made her feel rejected and alone.
And how many times did they call her a freak? Countless times.
She kept her gaze on the tom as spinning brown swirls entered her vision, somebody was coming. Her head zoomed to see the newcomer, a silver tortoiseshell was nearing the clearing at a run. Panic and fear struck Melody, what if this femora was running from something? Or what if she had been stalking Melody and hated Albinos and wanted to kill her. Her breathing quickened when the she-cat slowed, and she realized that the long-haired cat didn’t mean her any harm. She breathed out a sigh of relief. Melody thought she might have a heart attack.
“H-hi,” The she-cats voice was frightened and shy. Melody purred in amusement, finally somebody somewhat like her. “I haven’t seen you here b-before…is this your first time here?” Melody opened her mouth to answer the silver-eyed cat when the orange tom near her began to stir.
“Yep. I’m Soul, by the way, but you can call me soulmate.” His voice was strong and the darker blue splotches rolled into her vision and gently faded away.
Melody wasn’t very fond of flirtatious toms. She found them rather disgusting and jerk-ish. She growled in warning, her red eyes boring into his amber ones. Of course, her growl was quiet and probably barely heard. She backed away a little, her ears were flipped back and she looked at the two timidly, the male spoke again. “Alright, first things first. Names?” Psh! Like she was going to give him her name! She narrowed her red eyes.
“I’m Melody Redgaze,” She barked at him, then to the she-cat next to her, “But you can call me Mel,” She mewed in a much softer and quieter tone that she normally used. It was very shy and timid. Frowned as her own voice sent yellow swirls into her line of sight.

Sometimes you don't realize what you have until it's gone. At least, that's what people might tell you. Phantom was in a situation that was the opposite--she didn't realize what she was missing until she had the opportunity to snatch it up. Maybe. It all depended on these two cats and what they thought of her, what she thought of them. It was all really quite complicated, and if Phantom didn't want friendship as much as she did, she probably would have run away with her tail between her legs.
Of course, she couldn't exactly change some of the scenarios she was being thrown into. Not many cats had crossed her path recently, and so she knew none of the area beyond the forest as that was where she had made her home. The forest was lovely, but Phantom wanted to stray beyond its depths . . . maybe, just maybe, if she got out of the shadows of the trees, she could find some hint as to her life before her memory was lost.
She knew she had two sisters, but that was about it.
As Phantom approached the two strangers, she noticed that the orange cat who was lying down appeared to be asleep. Well, she couldn't blame him--it was a nice day out, and the meadow was warm with a slight breeze that kept the air from feeling stuffy. She was about to ask why the white cat wasn't asleep with him too (They knew each other, right? They were there together.) when Sun-Cat let out a low, exhausted-sounding moan, before slowly dragging himself into a standing position. Phantom was a little uncomfortable with his close proximity, though he distanced himself from her by a few steps almost immediately. "Yep. I'm Soul, by the way, but you can call me soulmate."
[/i] Soul mate? That was an unusual name. "Soul" had a nice ring to it, but he seemed convinced that he was to be called "Soulmate." Well . . . it was an odd name, but so what? Phantom wanted friends, and she might seem rude if she asked about his name. It was his, after all, not hers, and Sun-Cat had the right to be called whatever he pleased. Sun-Cat's gaze flickered from Phantom over to the white cat-- Frost-Cat--and he seemed to stop for a second. Phantom tilted her head, confused, and then glanced over at Frost-Cat herself. Oh. Her eyes were a light, intelligent red, an interesting contrast to the paleness of her fur. The combination was a little eerie to Phantom, but she couldn't really say much about being eerie. She looked like a ghost at night under the light of the moon. "Alright, first things first. Names?" Phantom stared for a moment. This tom was rather blunt. Ah, well, at least he was someone to talk to. Right? There were worse things that could happen? "I’m Melody Redgaze," The harshness in Frost-Cat's tone shocked Phantom, though she had to say the name was quite pretty. "Melody" just seemed to fit her. A thought struck Phantom: was "Melody" not somehow related to "Song"? As in "Leaf song," Phantom's last name? Would Melody know anything about her? "But you can call me Mel," Phantom was shocked to see that Frost-Cat-- Mel--was addressing her with a kind, quiet and shy tone. It was nice--the sort of voice that came from someone that Phantom wanted to be friends with. "Um," Phantom looked timidly from one cat to the other, Frost-Cat and Sun-Cat, before she smiled just a tiny bit. "I'm Phantom . . . Phantom Leafsong." She paused and then tilted her head again. "What are you doing out here, Mel and . . . Soulmate?" Phantom flicked her tail and ears in the direction she had come from. "I've been living in a tree in the forest for a while, I've come here pretty, um, of-often. Haven't seen either of you . . ."[/blockquote] Just a warning--and I'm sorry if you don't like this--Phantom has a habit of nicknaming anyone that she meets. She only uses their nickname in her head, though, so yeah . . . Anywho, just a heads up. xD Phantom's a little weird. And sorry, I completely forgot, I had to finish in a rush. ^^ I'll remember from now on. O.o I almost feel bad for Phantom. And I'm sorry I keep adding to this OOC bit . . . I'll stop now. [/blockquote]

((OOC: Storm when Apo said don't forget to bold speech she only meant the speech that your cat makes lol, you don't have to bold the speech that the others make, you can just like italics that or something, tends to make it less confusing ))

Soul was surprised by the harsh tone the white cat was using with him, but it didn't faze him for long. Melody, huh? He'd have to call her Mel, simply because she purposelessly went out of her way to not be addressing him when adding the nickname in.
Strange part is, she seemed to be having a fine time with the she-cat- maybe she didn't like toms or something- it couldn't be him, could it? They'd only met seconds before, but she didn't seem to be expressing any hostility when he was lying on the ground, supposedly sleeping. Some cats were just weird.
The other looked a little indecisive, and when she spoke up with her introduction, Phantom- which he decided was almost as fitting a name for her as Redgaze was for Mel- Leafsong, her voice as as soft as ever. Now here's the part Soul really laughed at-
"What are you doing out here, Mel and . . . Soulmate?"
This sent the bright orange cat into hysterics. After she finished the question it had been silent for a moment more as Soul took in what was said to him. She just asked so innocently- she couldn't even pick up on the bad joke.
By the time he had cooled down the laughing fit the two probably hated him, so with another last gulp of air he gasped out,
"Just... Just kidding, it was a joke. Call me Soul, Tomi."
The nickname was totally uncalled for, and she hadn't given her permission to use it, but Soul didn't even think of these things- he might've asked, if he had. Soon as he realized she had asked a question though, he rushed to answer. The tom wasn't being intentionally rude... That's the sad part. It's just how he is.
"Well, as it was clear when you showed up, I was sleeping. Ever nap in the sun? It's amazing. I can show you all the best places sometime, if ya want."
He winked. Shamelessly, I might add. The question was fairly rhetorical though, as he really didn't know too many, but couldn't help and add it anyway.
But soon after he heard her quietly speak out once more.
"I've been living in a tree in the forest for a while, I've come here pretty, um, of-often. Haven't seen either of you . . ."
He took a moment to think to himself, wondering how to respond.
"Well...," he started slowly, "I only showed up here the other day."
His eyes softened as he thought of his former owner, broad smile faltering slightly. In an instant his expression had gone from excited to melancholy, and the dark mood entered as a oft breeze of cool air came rolling in from the North.
"But-" Soul cut himself off in an attempt to brighten the atmosphere a bit, "I'm hoping to see more of you two." And then his eyes flickered over to Melody.
Mel, stop givin' me the cold shoulder, you're killing me here."
Soul complained, sitting down, and whisking his tail over his two front feet in a more comfortable stance.
"I've been talking to Tomi the whole time, but I haven't forgotten about you. Why don't you tell me a little about yourself? And get to know each other a little better."
Was the suggestive request, his amber eyes dancing in the sunlight. He just couldn't keep himself quiet. It was a shock he'd made it to two years old without being skinned alive.
ooc; haha don't worry storm, you're thinking too much. play your character however you want, we love her all the same. and if you haven't noticed already o.o soul's not one for going by full names either.

Melody listened to the two cats speak. She wanted to blend herself into the trees behind her and disappear. She wasn’t one for multiple cat encounters, the fact was that she was feeling claustrophobic at this moment and she couldn’t help but back away a little more. She wanted to distance herself from them as much as possible, how could they want to be friends with her? An albino with death’s own eyes and that saw colors? Everything about her screamed freeeeeaaaakkk! How could they not think about this? How could Soul and the other she-cat not notice or act strange with her as everybody else had? This…Soul character bugged Mel with his intention of annoying the hell out of her. She frowned and narrowed her blood eyes, what a jerk. Anybody that was like him, an awful flirt just had to be a jerk. She bit her lip, not wanting to say much more.
The pretty little silver tortoiseshell seemed to look at her with an odd touch. Finally! Some reality in this world! “Um,” the she-cat said, sending purple and green stripes etching across her perfect vision. “I’m Phantom…Phantom Leafsong.” Everything about Phantom made Melody want to be friends with her, but, you could never ever judge anybody by their looks or attributes. Melody had learned this the hard way. “What are you doing out here Mel…Soulmate?” The white cat wanted to burst out laughing, Phantom obviously wasn’t one of the smartest cats. She grinned, she was a youngling then. Very little, not very bright, Mel wanted to roll on the floor and she glanced at the orange tom and saw the same look in his eyes and facial expression too.
This question lingered on Mel. She couldn’t tell them why she was here, honestly, she didn’t really want to say anything. Her red eyes bored into the silver she-cat and the tom as she watched them react. The dark blue and purple with green stripes being drawn on the canvas that was already filled with colors, just adding to the mixture. She thought that eventually, the colors would mash together and make a murky poop-brown or jet black. She smiled lightly and thoughtfully at this thought but quickly erased it, this wasn’t the time she was supposed to be trying to blend in and not be noticed.
She couldn’t help but glare at Soul Dreamcatcher as he flirted effortlessly with the clueless Phantom. ‘Tomi’? Honestly? She shook her head, couldn’t he see that she obviously hadn’t caught on that he was flirting? She growled so softly, it could be mistaken for a purr. She ended up tuning out their conversation but keeping her gaze locked on the two cats, not knowing what to say. Her red-eyes were hard, but kind and gentle all the same. “Mel, stop givin’ me the cold shoulder, you’re killing me here.” The orange tabby complained and sat down. Her face screwed up into a very frustrated one. “I’ve been talking to Tomi the whole time, but I haven’t forgotten about you. Why don’t you tell me a little about yourself? And get to know each other a little better.” Dark blue annoyances were scrabbled in front of her.
Mel saw the amusement spread across his face. She kept her mouth shut, she distanced herself from him and looked to Phantom, wondering what she thought of her. Melody Redgaze had absolutely no intention of answering his or her question, her head faced down so they couldn’t see her face or her hideous red eyes. She shuffled her paws and waited for somebody to move the subject so that she wouldn’t have to talk. Something that she didn’t enjoy all that much.

sometimes you wonder[/u] if this F I G H T is w o r t h w h i l e . . .the precious moments[/u] are all L O S T in the t i d e . . . Phantom couldn't remember a time that she'd made another cat laugh. Her memory was lost to her, and it didn't seem to be coming back anytime soon, and she'd only met two others. They hadn't laughed much. Phantom's ghostly appearance had scared the little orange Flame-Cat. When he finally realized that she was not in fact what her name suggested, he had been . . . jumpy. And the other cat had been different. Her name was unique--although not as pretty as Melody's--Azalea. Azalea had stunning eyes, although, once again, not like Mel's. Mel's eyes were eerie at first, but at second glance, Phantom found herself fascinated with the deep, beautiful red colour.
She also couldn't remember ever seeing a colour like that before. It was also stunning once you got over the initial creepiness.
As the Sun-Cat--who was awfully similar looking to Flame-Cat--started laughing, Phantom stared, unsure. What had she said? All she had done was ask what they were doing out in this meadow. Apparently she was funny. Great. Well, maybe it was great! She had obviously done something right if the two hadn't turn and run after the first two words she spoke. "Um," she whispered quietly. Phantom's silver tail twitched nervously, and she turned to lock her gray eyes on Frost-Cat. Frost-Cat had a hint of humor in her eyes as well, and Phantom frowned. What had she done?!
Really, what was she missing? Why didn't she get it? If they both found it amusing, it was probably something that everyone got. And now she seemed stupid. "Just . . . Just kidding, it was a joke. Call me Soul, Tomi."
[/i] Tomi? Was that her? So many questions. For that matter, so many unanswered questions. It was irksome. "Oh," she whispered again. "I thought--you said . . . I'm sorry."Well, if it was her, that had to be good. Right? Nicknames were a sign of affection. Maybe. That is if Phantom's sketchy memories--if you could call them that--were not failing her. Much like they had a moment ago, when they had not informed her that Sun-Cat was only joking when he said to call him Soulmate. Stupid mind. Perhaps it had abandoned her memories, not lost them, it wanted her to get smarter. "Well, as it was clear when you showed up, I was sleeping. Ever nap in the sun? It's amazing. I can show you all the best places sometime, if ya want." Sun-Cat seemed to be perfectly content, and quite playful for that matter. Though the wink that he sent towards Phantom right after confused her. More questions! Stupid, stupid, stupid. But she didn't want to be rude, she should answer the question. "Sure," her voice was a little stronger than it had previously been, but not by much. Her gray eyes were digging holes into her paws from where she had re-directed her gaze after Soul winked at her. "That'd be great." She smiled just a tiny bit, hoping the other two would see it. "Well . . . I only showed up here the other day."[/i] Phantom nodded. That made sense. After he spoke, Soul's expression became just the tiniest bit softer, and Phantom found herself raising her head a bit to look at him. She tilted her head. She liked that look on his face. He wasn't scary, and she felt safer talking to him. "But I'm hoping to see more of you two."[/i] And there was the Sun-Cat that intimidated her. The winking, giving-the-wrong-name Sun-Cat. Mel, stop givin' me the cold shoulder, you're killing me here." Now his expression was just frustrated. Geez, could he just choose one face already? He was giving Phantom a headache trying to keep up with all the unknown moods and ambiguous words. "I've been talking to Tomi the whole time, but I haven't forgotten about you. Why don't you tell me a little about yourself? And get to know each other a little better."[/i] Aw, he wanted to know them? That was kind of . . . sweet. Phantom's mind told her that it was sweet. Plus he didn't want to ignore Mel, that was kind. Although, he couldn't exactly say that he was talking to her. Well, he was talking. She was sitting there shyly staring at anything but him. Oh, how had she gotten herself into this? She desperately wanted to talk to others, but she didn't want to have to explain about her memory loss. At the same time, she wanted to be liked, and if she came across as dense who would like her? It was only contributing to her building headache. Mel backed up a bit, and shuffled her paws awkwardly. Well, at least Phantom wasn't the only one here who wasn't exactly comfortable. Although, who was to say that it wasn't Phantom's fault that Frost-Cat was not feeling particularly pleasant. Perhaps she should apologize. "Um," Phantom stumbled on her words, unsure of how to put this. "I'm s-sorry I'm so slow . . ." she muttered. "I don't know anything," the last part was muttered more quietly (if that was possible) to herself, and she felt the uncomfortable feeling of tears stinging at her large gray eyes. Maybe she should just give up. Go home, forget about ever meeting someone. If it was going to be this difficult, it just wasn't worth it. [/blockquote][/blockquote] they're swept away and N O T H I N G [/b] is what it s e e m s . . .the feeling[/u] of B E L O N G I N G[/b] to your d r e a m s . . .[/right]

Soul was pouting.
Two girls, at the same time, talking to him, in a nice sunny spot in the woods, escaping any noise or humans or anything of the sort. And yet two things managed to ruin it: one, Mel seemed to hate him, and two, Tomi looked scared out of her wits.
He suppressed a groan, wondering where he went wrong. Maybe they were just both those types of girls, who didn't like overly-forward guys. He'd met them before, and it wasn't uncommon.
At his question, Melody completely ignored him, and despite his loud and annoying behavior, he was sorta hurt. She didn't seem to want anything to do with him- not that he'd let her know he was the slightest bit put out.
Phantom was quiet and so shy he could hardly digest it. As it seemed to him, they were polar opposites, like magnets. He was positive, she was negative. Although he could say the exact same thing about the scarlet-eyed she-cat as well.
Scarlet eyes... He thought, dazedly trying to get a look at them again. they definitely were captivating, like the rich women who came to his owner's circus had occasionally worn on their fingers or necks. Eyes like jewels.
To his utmost shock, Phantom actually agreed to his invite- he hadn't been serious or anything, and didn't suspect an answer. From what he had gathered, the gray she-cat hadn't a clue as to how normal socializing was supposed to go- but he had to congratulate her. It was the first sentence she'd been able to offer him without stuttering.
"Um," Soul was suddenly aware of her voice chiming in, "I'm s-sorry I'm so slow . . . I don't know anything."
His head tipped to the side. She sounded almost... Upset? And her words were terrible- he'd never say something like that about himself, ego the size of an elephant or not.
But then Soul noticed something glisten on her face, and, horrified, he realized that she was crying. He had made her cry.
Ah, no way! What did I do? He silently panicked. Glancing over at Mel with a look that said "How did this happen? Did you do this?" Before rushing over to her aid.
"Hey, hey, it's okay," Soul told her when he reached her, voice softening so he wouldn't freak her out again and lowering his head so that he could see her face.
"You're not slow, To-Phantom, please don't cry, we're not mad at you or anything like that." He hoped he was reassuring her. The absolute worst thing you can do to a girl in his opinion is make her cry.
"Sorry I laughed at you, you're really great." The words came out in jumbles through his panic to stop her crying.
Ahg, how did this happen?

Melody's head swirled. With Phantom's cluelessness, and Soul's need to flirt with the two of them piled on into one big headache. She scrunched up her white face and made her red eyes into slits. She had been called 'Devil Kitten' because of her eyes, and she hated them. If she could rip them out of her skull and screw in shiny brown ones that would be just fine and dandy for her. But, in a odd and frustrating way, she loved her ruby eyes. They were terrifyingly beautiful to her, but she'd never admit it out loud. She also secretly liked being different in this way. But, as always, it stayed at the back of her mind and was blocked by the hatred of not being liked.
To her own shock, she had caught Soul gazing into her red eyes. She tilted her head the the side, was he admiring them? Or was he maybe damning them? It was hard to tell with that lazy stare that he was giving her. She growled a warning to tell him to stop.
"Umm..." Mel heard the sweet gray tortishell speak softly. I'm s-sorry I'm so slow . . ." she muttered as Melody turned to look at her. "I don't know anything." Green stripes sadly made their way into her vision. She had never seen somebody so put down. Then, she noticed tears streaming down her cheeks. The white she-cat stood up to go over there and Soul looked at Melody with concern, in a way that asked if she had done this. Mel was horrified, that thought had never crossed her mind. What if she had caused this? What if her hostility towards Soul had frightened her, and something like this had happened?
Melody slowly padded towards the two, she heard what she never thought would hear coming out of the jerkish flirt's mouth. Concern! She couldn't help the lopsided grin that spread across her face for a split second then it dashed away. She sat next to the grey cat and pressed her white pelt against the grey and smiled conforting at her. "Hey now, Phantom! I'm sure you know a lot of really cool things. You're not slow either, we all have our sharp and our dull moments, and this was your dull moment. So..how about a sharp moment?" She hoped her voice was nice and calming and sweet enough to make Phantom stop crying. She looked up to Soul for aid, he was strangely upset as far as Mel could tell. She gave Soul a look that said "Whatever you do, do not flirt right now!" She looked back at the year and a half year old and smiled sweetly. God, had she gotten herself into something or what?
