History: Jay and Citrus Sunseed must have been the proudest parents in the world. After three previous litters that had all died, four healthy kittens were fianlly born to them mid-February in 2008. On Valentine's Day to be precise. Well, not technically. The kittens were born just a few miuntes before midnight on February 13th. All except for the last one, a tiny little girl who was born on February 14th. Christened Dandelion, the runt of the litter was nonetheless energetic and healthy in all aspects, to her parents relief. Being the smallest though she often let her bigger brothers and sister choose what they were going to play or do. She just wasn't a leader by nature.
The four kittens were Dandelion, Lilac, Smoke and Reed. Two girls and two boys. Lilac was grey and white like Citrus and the other three kittens were black and white like their father - and like Citrus's mother. But of all of them, Dandelion had the most peculiar fur. It was bushy and tufty - nothing like her parents' smooth coats. It stuck up in funny, cutesy ways and earned her her name - after the tufty yellow flower.
Jay and Citrus were owned by a young human woman, a student in University who lived with her parents. Having to pay for tuition and looking to move out soon, Ellen Grace just couldn't afford to keep all of the kittens. Actually, she couldn't afford to keep any of them. But her parents decided they'd keep one of the kittens. They chose Lilac, Dandelion's sister, despite protests from Ellen that Dandelion was the most suitable pick. They had fallen in love with Lilac's sweet grey and white fur and wanted the little girl that looked just like her mommy.
So when they almost 8 weeks old, Ellen found homes for Smoke, Reed and finally, Dandelion. Jay and Citrus were heartbroken but they had been expecting it and at least the kittens would be living fairly close by so they could perhaps visit sometime - Jay and Citrus were both outdoor cats and hoped their kittens would be too. Reed was taken by the kindly, elderly neighbor whose dog had passed away last summer. Smoke was taken by a schoolteacher who lived eight blocks. Dandelion was picked by a family of four who lived a few kilometres away.
The Allen family named their new little kitten Sasha, a name that Dandelion soon grew to despise. The kids were eight and ten - both boys - and seemed to love chasing her around so they could grab her and pet her roughly. Dandelion grew terrified and took to hiding in laundry baskets - something not appreciated by Mrs. Allen. One day the boys took her outside and without thinking, Dandelion squirmed out of their grasp and ran off, deciding to head back to her mommy and daddy. But she got lost along the way and wandered into another part of the town - the opposite direction from where she grew up.
Personality: Naive. Though it has something to do with her young age, Dandelion Sunseed is, without a doubt, extremely naive - even more so than other kittens. She grew up a sheltered, cozy life and never expected that anythign could go wrong or that she would one day fall off her sweet little cloud into a place known as 'reality'. She believs good of everyone since she had never had any reason to doubt this, and was therefore shocked by the harsh treatement she receieved from the Allen boys. But she knew they meant well and therefore doesn't think bad of them, even if she is still scared to this day.
Being small has always made her semi-timid around stragers, but it realy depends. With some she just opens up and feels completely comfortable around. Usually though, she is sweet and friendly, ignoring any shyness that she might be feeling. She never considers the fact that someone might want to harm her and just waltzes right up to them.
She has never learned to lie or had any occasion to do so and is therefore a terrible liar. She stammers and blushes and looks at her paws and then just blurts out the truth. She is also fairly horrible at concealing her emotions for the same reasons. Her eyes are big and innocent and display her moods and feelings as easily as if they were an open book. With her, the eyes are not only the window to the soul but to the mind. But it is more than the eyes. Her entire expression and posture give away her mood before she even opens her mouth.
Her favorite thing to say is 'Why?'. Besides being naive, Dandelion is slightly clueless when it comes to most matters and has trouble understanding anything that doesn't fit with her idea of how stuff works. Almost any statement that someone uses is met with a little whine. "But why is it like that?" Though this may show that she wants to learn, the truth of the mtter is that she is easily confused and is not the brightest bulb on the chandelier.
Despite her flaws, Dandelion has a good heart and is sympathetic to the plights of others. This has turned into another flaw though, as she is easily manipulated or guilt-tripped. But she would try to stand up for something she believed in and try to stand up for someone if she saw them getting hurt. She makes good efforts and has sweet intentions even if the end results of her actions are not always favorable.
