Name: Azalea Breezeblown Gender: Female Date of Birth: November 19th, 2007 Height: 11-and-a-half inches Sexual Preference: Straight Status: Spayed
Coat Color: White Coat Pattern: Calico Eye Color: Blue - a very light and bright shade at that. Fur Length: Long and flat-laying Appearance Extra: Her tail is quite straight for a Bobtail, but it curls up ever so slightly at the end permanently; the bones are fused together. It has a very nice, but rather shapeless, "puff" to it. Also, as a key JBT trait, her hind legs are much longer than her front ones. They only give a slightly rabbit-like appearance though, because she angles them when walking or standing. As for her pattern, Azalea has calico patches on her face, and on her tail, up to a small area of the base as well. A large black patch goes over her right eye, and an orange one is just below that with faint tabby markings apparent. There are no markings over her left eye, although around her left ear is thin patches of orange and black alternating.
History: Azalea was born in a cattery breeding Japanese bobtails, so she's always been around others of her breed. She had three other siblings, and she wasn't particularly dominated or was dominant herself. She rather considered herself somewhat of a peacemaker; keeping them from getting into too many fights.
Her brother, a black-and-white Bobtail, was very domineering. He insisted that his smaller sisters, another Mi-Ke and an orange tabby harlequin along with Azalea herself, would listen to him. At first, they all loved him. He was cool, he was brave, and he made the cattery much more lively. Azalea and her siblings went along, play fighting with older show cats, playing with cat toys galore and generally making a ruckus; many sighs were sighed and mewls of laughter were laughed, however cliche that may be.
But then her brother got into a scrap on the most daring and last adventure. He managed to slip outside as the humans who owned the cattery left the door ajar when they were carefully bringing in a new piece of furniture. Obviously, they never saw what it was. They poised, silent and ready, and dashed out the door.
And oh, what a wonderful world it was! They were all in awe of what was around them. The smells, the sights, the sounds-- all new and intriguing to a kitten who had been indoors all her life so far.
But the adventure was cut short when the breeders realized that the four trouble-makers had escaped. Cleverly, they tricked the kittens into following inside for food, and that was the last of the out of doors they saw for a long time.
However, Azalea never mentioned it again(she was embarrassed, of course, of how it ended) although her brother thought otherwise. The sisters didn't trust him anymore, not after what happened then. The breeders were not happy with them getting out; more curfews remained and special gates were put up, which were quite annoying and limiting to where the kittens could go.
When they were six months old, Azalea's orange sister was sold- apparently, she was not show quality. Her Mi-Ke sister and the brother went into shows, and Azalea was to follow in their pawsteps.
Unfortunately, it was a disaster waiting to happen. Azalea hated cat shows with a passion from the very first minute. First a bumpy ride in a plastic carrier. It was dark, scary, unfamiliar smells. Of course, she was used to the carrier by then(vet trips and all), but that didn't make the trip very pleasant. Being handled by judges was awkward, and she mewled for her mother and to go home the entire time. Surprise, surprise! She didn't place very well.
As it was cruel to the cat to show them if they were opposed, they were going to sell her as a pet; hopefully, she would have been happier that way. She got into the crate when they fixed a good home for her, but within the first few days, Azalea was homesick. She escaped when the windows were opened for the first time at the end of May on a warm day, and didn't think twice about it. She learned from one of the neighbor cats(after resolving a territory issue) how to survive, or atleast some very vague tips. Then she was on her own.
Personality: As Japanese flower meanings go, Azaleas stand for patience and modesty, of which Lea has both. She alternates between dancing around her idea and saying it straight out, depending on her mood. She loves little kittens, and has the patience to make even unruly ones listen to her-- or at least, as Japanese Bobtail kittens go. She is quite sheltered in that fact.
Despite her show-quality beauty, she is quite modest. She'd gotten comments from the elders at the cattery about her "breath-takingly blue" eyes, but it never made her a vain feline. She's quite submissive in nature however, which doesn't help her establishing a place for her in the wild.
'Lea is kind; to a fault even. She'll go out of her way to help someone out of pity, even if it is a trap. She has great empathy for other cats, as long as there is no underlying grudge. She's not a very aggressive cat, and usually stumbles over her words if she's mad. She just can't get herself to be intimidating.
Although modest, as an ex-show cat she can be a little spoiled. Used to Grade-A+ cat food and a warm, soft bed everynight, she's very picky about where she sleeps and what she'll eat. Not to say how she complains when her long fur mats after a long rain or humid atmosphere. But she never wants other cats to know this; she only admits it to cats that are close to her.
More than anything, this cat does not usually like to be alone. She needs to confide in another cat her insecurities, and feels intimidated and that she can't survive on her own. She also gets lonely and destructive on her own; other cat's help her curb this tendency.
When around other cats, especially other females which she is more comfortable around, she likes to say jokes in her little high-pitched voice, thinks they are all funny(despite how old, not funny or stupid they may be), and just likes to please. She's happiest when she's made those around her happy. Azalea is not the brightest cat in the world, but she makes up for it with a sweet and naive nature that's all her own.
