One day, almost a millennia ago, a devastating war took place destroying the entire world. Nothing survived, even the fish in the deepest, darkest, trenches in the world soon died out from lack of food.
Time began again for the new world. Evolution again took over, until the world resembled something it once did. Though mostly dominated by large islands. Three of those islands that where quite nearby came to become a curious engagement. Evolution had taken quite a different path.
A race of creatures, much like the modern horse had evolved, though one branch of that species soon developed a taste for blood. Just as that branch grew dependent on blood the others became longer lived.
There was a peace of sorts, but it could not last. The prince of the true vampire creatures that fed only upon blood and nothing more would feed from the mortal equines. His name, Marius. It soon came to be that there was a princess of the mortal equines that would fend of Marius if she could. Her name, Pandora.
Eventually the two decided that they would simply fight each other and whoever won, well, they won. If Marius won Pandora would step down. If Pandora won Marius would no longer feed from equines.
Then came that fateful night. The battle raged on for hours, neither equine giving the other any ground. Towards dawn Pandora had given up on living but was going to take Marius with her. At a crucial moment she grabbed his neck and held on for all she was worth and the sun rising over the horizon was the last thing she saw after one of Marius’ hooves crashed through her skull. Though it was too late for him and he was incinerated on the spot.
Of course that wasn’t the end of this war, quite contrary. This was the beginning of the feud. You see Marius had been mated to a young mare named Bianca who’d born him a fine daughter, one named Estel. Pandora too had been mated to a fine stallion named Arjun and had born a handsome colt, one named Santiago. These two were wiser than their parents and kept to the shadows and waited patiently. Each doing what was needed to survive and draw no attention to themselves.
Time entered a peaceful lull during which almost nothing is known other than the lines prospered greatly.
Now after a while a mortal Queen laid claim to the entire area. Surprisingly none took offensive and let the mare rule. Her name was Celeste. Of course the main reason the vampires were not causing any problems was because their prince had a plan with Celeste. Their king was named Lestat. Well, Celeste not thinking that Lestat was a vampire soon fell for the brute and after a while bore a fine colt to be named Armand. Well, once Lestat saw how feminine the colt was he took his leave of the mare and colt. Celeste, being as distraught as she was managed to continue to rule, and even make the vampire’s obey since she was the dam of their ruler’s colt. Now another mortal stallion named Memnoch of an unknown lineage come forth for the mare and soon they were happy together. Only Armand was ever left out, but he still had the attention he needed. When Armand was only about a year old Celeste delivered a young filly. She was named Sangre due to her dark chestnut coloring.
Time passed quite uneventfully until the death of Celeste and Memnoch. Nobody knows exactly how this happened but as the eldest foal of the queen, Armand was now the ruler. Now since he was attached to his younger sib he made her his empress and opened up positions for a Vampiric Queen, Vampiric King, Mortal Queen, and a Mortal King. He promised Sangre that he would only take a mortal mare for his mate and she in return promised only to take a vampire stallion for her’s. Time passed smoothly, but now there are problems. Some equines are not happy with how things are ruled and wish to overtake the royalty and instilled their own ideas. Some are quite happy with everything and others are plotting how to get their family related to any of the royalty, especially Armand and Sangre.
