Name: Ginkgo Tearfall Gender: Female Date of Birth: May 9th, 2005 Height: 19 Sexual Preference: Bi / No Preference Status: Not Spayed
Coat Color: Black Coat Pattern: Solid Eye Color: Purple Fur Length: Shorter than the norm, but not very unusual. Appearance Extra: Ginkgo has a unique scruffiness to her, which shows that no matter where she was born, she's a cat that's not afraid of the streets or fights.
History: Gingko's past is not something she likes to talk about, not being the happiest environment for her. She was born to the humans to be used as a breeder cat, but she wasn't good enough for her breeders and sold her off as a pet.
She was brutally ripped away from her mama. She can't even remember her mama's name now, except she thinks it starts with an "s" sound. Her clearest memories of her parents was when her mama snuggled with her in the back of a cage. She had been sickly then, the effort of moving tiring her out. But she still clung to the memory of her mama, who was so tired that she could barely eat, grooming her thouroughly with a trembly tongue, and leaping to protect her if a human walked by. Things like that would make her get worse, but she did them anyways. Gingko knew that about a week after Gingko was taken, despite her mother's efforts, her mother died.
"Her fur is too scruffy," her breeders said, "and she seems too sad." She wasn't even that sad at the time, but after being shipped off, she began to be.
The family she was sent to was the sort of type that bought expensive/pedigree animals and then completely ignored them. Gingko was locked inside and was only allowed near people when they were feeding her. Not only that, but there was two more cats she was imprisoned with, one of which didn't exactly agree with her. Her name was Ice Shard, and was not friendly to anyone. She was horrible to the family, but she still got better treatment from them because to the humans, she was prettier. This made Gingko sadder.
Her other (prison) mate was a young male cat named Moss Tearfall. But, she was supposed to "Call him Moss. Simply Moss." She didn't know him by any other name, and flattened her ears any time the humans called him. He was Moss, and she was Gingko, and that was that. She didn't need human names to fuddle them up. At the time, Gingko didn't have any last name. She didn't tell people not to call her by her last name, she just didn't have one.
Her and Moss were best friends and even more. "If it wasn't for you, I'd go crazy!" she teased. They were like 5th graders going out, it was cute and they spent all their time together, btu they didn't do much else. But it was still obvious they liked each other. Alot. This made Ice jealous. Ice had everything she could have...except Moss. Moss was a fine looking cat. Ice was shaper than Gingko in a way, and like her name, colder. Moss did not like Ice on her own, and when he found out how mean she was to Gingko, he disliked her with a passion.
Soon, they tired of her and Moss, with their annoying togetherness. The faher of the family felt that the two cats together gave his children "unrealistic ideas about personal space and how one should act in the world." The mother agreed a dn without hesistation gave them both to the pound. After the customary 2 weeks without being claimed, she was supposed to have been euthanized, but they instead dumped her at the end of Old Road. The one who was supposed to euthanize her was highly superstitious, and thought her purple eyes and quietness made her special. Lucky Gingko, her life wasn't over just yet. Moss was a much more normal looking cat, and she never saw him again. He was being prepped for death as she was taken away, so she figures he was put to death. Not so lucky Moss.
Personality: Gingko is a quiet, sadder sort of cat, abandoned too many times. Shy and withdrawn, she needs the sort of companion who will make her feel safe and loved. Gingko has found that she can be quite persuasive if she needs to, but this requires her being more outspoken, which she doesn't like. She only does so when she needs to. Recently, she had been more adventurous and ventured closer in cat society, and this is a big leap for her.
Losing Moss has made her as sad as ever. As the only living thing she's ever trusted, losing him was a blow lower than she thought was possible. Sometimes, thoughts of him will cross her mind and she shuts down. Ears drooping. She took his last name in memory of him.
Sometimes she will forget her worries, and become a playful young cat that is ready for an adventure. But this happened rarely around Moss, and might never happen again. She tries not to show how unhappy she can be, with forced tail flicks and purrs.
Gingko is a very shy cat, the sort of one that avoids contact with other cats, not just because of her shyness, but because she now knows that if she trusts someone again, she could get hurt.
She's the polar opposite of most cats, being sad, shy, and contemplating. Once you have her as a friend, however, she's loyal to the extreme. The chief euthanizer now has several scratches that she is thinking about getting rabies shots for. She cannot stand seeing someone getting hurt, and even more so, her friends. You couldn't call ehr clingy per-se. She's more of a shadow, silent and watching.
She creeped out the other cats at the pound because she was completely still and quiet while she was being held in the female cat section, btu as soon as she saw Moss being prepped, she was a a wild cat, spitting and hissing and clawing and yelling. She only calmed down when Moss told her to, instantly settling down with mournful eyes, tail twitching unhappily. It didn't help that the other cats scorned Moss, because he kept cheery and hopeful even as he was going to be put to sleep. "Don't forget me, okay, Gingko? I promise I'll see you again, even if it's not here, so don't miss me too much. Then we can do fun stuff together!" Gingko stayed silent and even acted happy until he was out of the room, but as son as he was gone she curled up into a ball of misery. Ginkgo had been left alone....again.

This is her, minus the purple eyes. I would've searched for one with purple eyes, but I felt that the simple loneliness coming from this picture suited her.
