Name: Nest Shatterwind Gender: Male Date of Birth: October 18, 2007 Height: 23 centimeters Sexual Preference: Straight Status: Neutered
Coat Color: Light Brown Coat Pattern: Tabby Eye Color: Pale Green Fur Length: Medium Appearance Extra: Old scar from when he was a kitten down the side of his head, from ear to chin, behind his eye, on his right side.
History: Nest’s mother belonged to a woman who loved cats. There were usually no less than ten somewhere in the house, and cats came and went as they pleased. Nest lived with all those cats, and had two sisters with him in the house for the first four months of his life. But he never really liked the old woman, and the house they stayed in, which was always a mess.
His father had been with his mother for two years, long enough for Nest to have three other brothers and sisters who hung around the woman’s house. His father had been Wave Breaklightning, and his mother was Holly Shatterwind, before he took on Holly’s last name. When Nest was a week old, his father went out one night and never came back. Nest never saw him again.
When he was seven months old though, the woman died. Other humans came and took her away, and all of a sudden, people were swooping in and taking away all the other cats there. Nest tried to hide under a chair, but got dragged out by one of the humans. In the process, he got the scar on the side of his head from ear to under his chin.
He and his sisters and mother, and all the other cats were then brought to the pound. Nest got separated from his family the next day though, as a woman came in, looking for a new pet for her niece in a far away city.. Nest was terrified at first, as the woman, for some reason, took a liking to him.
And then the woman left and then scary people came, and took him back to a different scary place. Nest woke up back in a cage in a different place and looked around, wondering what had happened. A cat in the cage next to him told him he’d been neutered. Seeing Nest’s confused expression, he explained that that meant Nest wouldn’t be able to have kittens. Nest didn’t know what to think of that yet.
Then the woman came back put Nest in a new cage a put him in the back of one of the rumbly things they go around in. They stayed in the rumbly thing for a long, long time, until they arrived in front of a big brick building. And then, with Nest still in the little cage, they went up and up and up the stairs for a long time, then to something like a little house.
And then the woman left, and there were three new humans, and Nest couldn’t get out. He tried going out the door, but the humans were careful, and shut it fast. The windows were so high, he couldn’t get out them either. He was also afraid of these huge, clever creatures. Nest stayed in the house for months until finally, the littlest human made a mistake and managed to escape out the door. Nest felt like he had been there years though it had only been months. Months forced to eat nasty food and not go looking for anything on his own.
Nest made it a grand total of about five blocks in the city. Then he got picked up by some wacko big human. The human turned out to not like cats, or, really, any other kinds of pets. The human was sort of an animal control wanna-be. He often captured dogs and cats around town and brought them to where he thought they wouldn’t cause any more trouble. Nest got stuffed in a box, and then driven out to an old road, where the box was dumped.
Confused, but free (and farther away from humans faster than he expected) Nest realized he’d never really thought about what he would do once he escaped. He knew how to hunt alright from living with the old lady, and he had thought he would take care of himself that way, but he’d never really thought it through. But, he was free. And that was all that truly mattered.
Personality: Around other cats and strange places, Nest is a very shy cat. He doesn’t really like exploring, but when it comes to getting away from humans, he’ll get as far away as possible. But if he’s in a familiar place and he knows people, he can be very friendly.
His hatred of humans is more of a very intense fear of them than actual hatred. He stays away from them as much as he possibly can. Though, despite his fear of them, he has no fear of their buildings, and most of their strange contraptions. Except big moving things like cars and trains. He’s still scared of those.
Meeting new cats before had always been hard for him. He felt like he never knew what to say or do, and no matter what he did, he felt like he still did something wrong around a new cat. New places were almost the same. What if there were other cats here, and he did something to make himself look like a dork. Or got in trouble. He likes to stick to the stuff he knows and stay away from strange stuff. But, he still wants to make new friends. He doesn’t want to be lonely and such, but once he gets a friend, a lot of times he is afraid of falling out with them.
When Nest gets around people that he knows, he gets much more friendly. He has a slightly wicked sense of humor, but can sometimes be very pessimistic though. And even with cats he knows well, he is afraid of saying the wrong thing a lot. He tries not to admit this, but sometimes it can be fairly obvious. He’s not really the talkative type.
Nest is also deathly afraid of fighting. He usually tries to avoid fighting, and people he could end up getting into a fight with. If he manages to somehow end up in a fight or battle, he’s most likely to turn tail and run, or hide under the nearest thing big enough to really hide under. He doesn’t like being such a fraidy cat, but it’s a lot of who he is. Though he is afraid of fighting, he is still a very good hunter, and could probably support himself on hunting, and not scavenging. But, finding a place where he is comfortable hunting can be a problem.
Nest also has a very strange liking of storms. Though he doesn’t like swimming, he really doesn’t mind getting wet, and isn’t afraid of storms. He actually likes lightning and thunder and such. He mother used to think it was a trait passed down on his fathers side, and had something to do with his fathers old last name ‘Breaklightning’.
