Most cats would think that she lived the perfect life. She had it all. She was loved. Cared for. Tended to. Spoiled. Anything that she wanted, she would get. Her mother, Jasmine, and her father, Oak, had two kind, wealthy humans who provided them with everything and more. There were only two humans in the house for a while, then a year before Oak and Jasmine, they had twins. Elaine, the mother, called the eldest girl Heather, and James called his young son Brock. While the children grew up, they found Jasmine and Oak wandering near their estate and took them in.
The two cats lived in luxury for five years with James and Elaine, making them six when Rose and her siblings were born. The entire family was suprised to find four tiny kittens curled up to the white female. The first born kit, a dark ginger male like Oak, was called Thorn. The second born, a ginger female, was Rose. Born third was the pure white female, Fern. The last born was a unique male, brown with white splotches, called Bracken.
Elaine and Heather instantly took to the young females, Fern and Rose. Elaine, being classier than her five year old daughter, took Fern in closer to her, leaving Rose to her daughter, Heather. On the other side of things, James took to the black first born, Thorn while Brock liked Bracken more. But because of this, Rose and Bracken were distant from their family. But all the same, the kittens grew up happy.
When they were six months old, they were allowed into the huge backyard, full of colorful gardens, tall trees, interesting insects, and wild birds. There was even a pond full of beautiful Koi with a small bridge around it. Days passed, all including explorations of the estate and each kitten found their favorite place. Thorn stayed around the bird baths, watching as the birds came and go. Fern played in the beautiful flowers, admiring their scents. Soon, she smelled like flowers, too. But as for Bracken and Rose...
Bracken could always be found around his big sister, Rose. They liked to climb trees and try to jump the fence from their scraggly branches. They sometimes escaped into the great open space beyond the wood walls, but once there, they didn't know what to do. The two kittens could also be found around the Koi pond, harrassing the fish. They splashed each other with the cool water, tried to catch the fish, and even shoved each other from the bridge occassionally. The two were always in trouble with everyone, even when they were older.
Another six months had passed, and Bracken and Rose had earned nicknames. Rose was now Dare, and Bracken was now Risk. Thorn and Fern gave them these names after they angered a stray dog and had it chase them around outside of the estate fence. The year old cats were different now. They still had luxuries like when they were young, but Thorn had become a graceful, silent hunter. He still watched the birds, but kept them and the yard safe from other cats and animals. Fern had become an elegant lady like her mother, always smelling of flowers. But Rose and Bracken, now Dare and Risk, still goofed off like always.
They caught fish, chased birds, knocked over things, broke things, and harrassed the other cats and children. One day, the two decided that they wanted to have a little more fun than usual. Under the conver of night, they climbed the tree, jumping the fence, and they went farther than ever into the open space beyond the fence. For a long time, all there was was grass with a few trees. But as they walked on, those few trees grew into many trees, and before they knew it, they were standing before a forest. In awe, they cautiously proceeded into the darkness.
They trodded deeper through the trees, looking around wearily. Not much changed until they noticed the gray light start to creep through the trees. The young female quickly said that they should go home. They ran and ran, having difficulty finding their way back. Everywhere they looked, only trees appeared. Tree after tree after tree. Her brother began to run past her, saying that he would go on ahead. A few strides later, she heard a splash. Bracken was clawing his way through the stream he had just fallen into. Rose released a hearty laugh, tossing her head to the sky as he dragged himself to the shore. He panted, shaking most of the water off of him and some onto Rose.
Back at home, everyone was in a panic. Elaine and James were calling everyone that they knew, asking about the two bi-colored cats. The six year old twins cried, hugging Jasmine and Oak. The four cats worried, but had to stay with the children. Fern and Thorn climbed into the tree, looking out over the open fields, waiting for two shapes to come running. But nothing. There were no signs of the cats anywhere. Elaine began to make signs, looking for them. James took the car out to the city, searching for the cats himself.
Back in the forest, Rose had shoved Bracken back into the water, saying that they'd follow the shallow stream back home. Wading through the water, they slowly made their way to what they thought could be home. They walked and walked until, finally, the trees vanished, and they were back on the plains. Then, soaked and tired, they dashed in the direction of the black shape against the setting sun.
Fern hung her head, knowing that her broher and sister would never come back. But suddenly, Thorn cried out, claiming to see them. She simply shook her head and leaped from the tree. But Thorn stayed, yowling out to them and the others. Suddenly, two soaked furry bodies slammed into the fence, clawing their way up the fence. Thorn grabbed Rose by the nape and pulled her into the tree, then he did the same with Bracken. They leaped from the tree as night set in, running through the open yard. They leaped over bushes, dodged trees, and even jumped the pond, rushing to the huge house.
Heather and Brock were near the door to the backyard, hoping that their kitties would come home. Suddenly, two wet furry figures ripped through the screen, tearing through the house, slinging water everywhere. The two kids screamed happily, scooping up their cats. Water began to seep into their clothes as they crushed the cats in their arms. They mewed and purred contently, glad to be home. Over the next year, Bracken and Rose tried to become pampered, normal cats like their family.
They went to the groomers and fought while their siblings sat there purring. Jasmine scolded them at home. They were taken to the vet to have their shots updated, and they fought, hissing and spitting, claws flailing through the air while Thorn and Fern sat there, trembling slightly. It seemed that they would never be perfect cats. They slowly lost confidence, drawing farther away from their family and closer to each other. They began to sleep outside, hunting for food, trying to live like wild cats. They found this life more appealing to them.
Now, they were two years old, and they knew that it was time. Again, under the cover of night, they climbed the fence, ignoring the tree. They knew that Elaine and James couldn't take it anymore, and they didn't want to be dropped off somewhere strange. Then leaped from the top of the fence, trying to find the forest from a year ago. But they failed. Instead of a shallow creek, they found a hard, stone path. Curiously, they followed it. Soon, cars began to pass them. More cars. Then, a huge lineup of them. The cats stayed to the far side of the road.
After a week or two of travel, they came across a huge city. Cats fought all around them, all for food. You had to fight to survive. Suddenly, Risk and Dare were back. They growled at each other, trying to fight before entering the city. Hissing, Dare leaped at her brother, knocking him from his feet. Risk slapped her off, rolling with her. Suddenly, the female felt the grass go hard and cold, realizing that they rolled into the middle of the road. She leaped to the side, dodging the oncoming car and ran into the city, not looking back to see if her brother made it. Once in the city, she stopped calling herself Rose Brightleaf. She mostly dropped the name Dare too. She went now by her half-self, Rose Hellfire.
Personality: Rose grew up playful, loving a good romp with her younger brother. She always broke the rules, doing everything she was told not to do. She broke things, made huge messed, and even ran away. She doesn't understand why she did all those things, she just liked to take risks and dare herself to do what no one thought she would. She still loves to prove herself in these ways. But this was her around her brother.
After the car incident, she hardened herself, growing cold and almost unapproachable. She hated meeting other cats and would normally hiss and walk off. She is almost always angry, and if not angry, she seems depressed. She mopes around, growling at herself, wishing that her brother was still there, but at the same time, wishing that she could forget him. She hates her past, and she hates her family.
Rose has become a very antisocial cat, hating it when she is bothered. When someone comes around her, she tends to curl up somewhere enclosed and dark to hide. Altogether, the ginder cat would rather be in the dakr than out in the sunlight. She tends to rub most cats the wrong way by the first meeting, and that is fine with her. Rose tends to make more enemies than friends. Actually, the cat has no friends.
In as good of a mood as she'll ever get in, Rose tends to smirk and challenge other cats to races, fights, and other competitions like those. In this kind of mood, she is still cruel and wins in whatever way she can, proving herself at the same time. But when she wins, she usually runs off, hating the attention after winning. So these moods usually don't last long.
She likes the rain, though she's rather not be out in it all the time. The young cat also loves to watch lightning strike the various buildings during storms. Rose can be found wandering the streets in heavy storms, using the lack of cats out there to clear her mind. The sound of storms calms her, and if confronted, she will be in almost an emotionless mood, not caring about anything.
