This thread was supposed to be for the handicap cats, but seeing as it has turnied into the wintertrap adveture, I changed the title =] Sight was a something to be thankful for, to be blessed with. And being the only kit out of your brother and sisters to still be enclosed in an abyss of oblivion wasn't something to be proud about. Lying around and listening to the amazed squeals of your siblings as they opened their eyes to see the new world that surrounded them. Striker was that kind of kit, sight was not gifted to him but he learned to try an live with it. I mean he was hardly three weeks old and he had an entire life to live. He had a lot of pride and he strives to be the best blind cat ever.
Not yet used to his lack of sight and trying to get a grip on his surrounding, he started to take a few steps forward and a few to the side. Still a bit wobbly, he got his footing set and his little kitten body was filled with excitment. Bouncing around in his little world of darkness, the grass was soft under his paws. Using his whiskers he sort of knew what was around him. Hearing the rushing fall of water near the side of him, he heeded his mothers words and stayed far away from it. Keeping steady, one foot in front of the other, he walked excitedly not paying attention to his family that was far off.
Suddenly, the sweet scent of his family had washed out of his notrils and his heart started to pound. Looking around, horrified yet not seeing anything, he started to tremble. "M-Mom?...Where are you?" He squealed. His small brown tabby paws lead him in no direction specifically, just with the hope he'd find them. Taking a deep breath and trying not to cry, he scented nothing but the rushing water...no scent from his family. Stepping slowly, making sure that the grass under him stayed grass and not smooth wet stones, he started to whimper. Queitly he felt around for a bush, fear running in his viens, trying to hide until his mother came looking. 'What if she doesn't come to look for me?' Remembering the stories of the dogs that had attacked the day they were born, he remembered how his mother had tried to sacrifice herself for Kessa and Lion. Would she come for him?
Shaking the doubt out of his mind he curled up under a low laying bush, waiting...just waiting. The dark was quiet, only the falls lulled the small frightend kit to sleep.
OOC: Ok done!

Ooc: I hope you don't mind that I have Lion join as well. :] Small fragile paws wobbly walked along the hard, rough, uneven surface. 'odd gwound fwel liek it move, wunder wut it is.' The small one month old kitten's innocent mind wondered as he watched the ground beneath his paws as it seemingly move as he did. He had wandered quite a bit away from the rest of his ken and his mother. He hoped he wouldn't get in trouble, his mother seemed very protective of them. He recalled a time she yelled at him because she couldn't find him when he was going poddy all along. He wanted to explore, now that he could see and hear the world around him he wanted to get to know it. Everything was so unfamiliar and his little innocent mind thirst for knowledge.
It did not take long before a familiar scent arose from not to far away. 'Striker?' He blinked curiously as he half wobbled half ran toward the scent he found his brother curled up by himself. He gasped. "Lwon save vu!" He exclaimed in a high pitched squeak, his just personality already developing as he bounded for his sibling. "Swiker! Ar vu O'kee?" He question his younger ken. Him being the first born out of his ken, it was his responsiblity to take care of his younger ken. "Dun wowwy, Wion help vu!" He exclaimed nudging his younger sibling. He wondered where their other ken was, probably still with mother or off on their own as well...
Lion soon became worried for his siblings. What if a nasty dog came and picked them up like the ones from that scary story momma had told them? He'd never seen a dog but from momma's discription of them, they where evil, ugly and nasty creatures that would kill them without hesitation! He had to help Striker and get him out of here!

OOC: No problem! Actually its good because after Striker meets Heather and Leaf he needs a pair of eyes to help him back home!! Yay For Wion! Hearing a faint thump of kitten paws, Striker warily lifted his head and opened his muzzle. With his eyes half shut with sleep he decided to close them becuase he couldn't use them anyway. Using his scense of smell, even if it was still raw with kitten year, he was able to scent out his own kin. 'Lion' He grinned and finally felt the heat of Lion's small body creep closer. Lion asked Striker if he was fine and Striker nodded his head in the direction his sibling's voice came from. "Dun wowwy, Wion help vu!" Lion mewed and Striker chuckled a soft highpitched mew. "heh heh I'm Fwine Wion! Just on a jwourney is awll." Striker meowed and stumbled to his feet.
Striker knew he wasn't looking at his brother, but looking away considering he couldn't see and he felt a bit embarassed. Why feel embarrsed in front of your own blood? Sttirker was, and guessing it was because Lion was his older brother and his only brother. Striker was close to his brother, as it should be considering they were surrounded by three girls and their mom. No father. Striker hissed inwardly at the thought of their father. Abandonment is all that came to mind. But wait? Why was Lion away from momma too? "Hey! Wha are woo dowing away fwom momma too?" Striker flashed him a grin, "On an adventcha too? Or ar woo just wooking fwor some doggies?" Letting out a ring of laughter. Was he not afraid of te threat of dogs? Of course he was.
Remebering the fights they had together, Striker suddenly felt more energetic. Using his whiskers to scense his brother's close where-abouts he lowered his front portion of his body and readied to pounce. Being blind it was good to learn to fight, espescially with your siblings...anyone else they'd probably kill the poor kit. Sudddenly, without notice, Striker lept into the air missing his brother. Still rusty and blind the poor kitten was. Hitting the floor he laughed and sat up again. "Do woo rememba where momma is?"

With consern in his bright golden eyes, Lion stared down at his younger brother. However when he said he was fine the small orange tabby kitten nearly leaped for joy. "Good." He mewed with a grin. He wouldn't want anything to happen to his younger brother. Nor his little sisters. Being the first born it was his responciblity after all to protect them.
Strikers voice rang in his small fluffy ears and he grinned. So he wasn't the only one that thirst for knowledge to know what the world around him was like. Unlike Kesterl, Puma and Lynx the two of them wanted to adventure off on their own. Lion was glad he had Striker for a brother, he would probably go insane of he was the only boy!
He watches his younger ken stumble onto his four paws again and smiled. He however didn't understand why Stricker was keeping his eyes closed. He couldn't see if he did that. Lion knew Striker had trouble seeing but he was too young and innocent to know that he was blind and even know what that meant. Lion shrugged it off and just thought his brother was weird. He would soon learn why his brother couldn't see.
When the small orange tabby kitten was asked why he was away from their mother he puffed his chest out proudly--despite his brother couldn't see him--and exclaimed; "Wion came to pwo-tec-t Swiker!" He exclaimed stumbling over the word "Protect" a bit. Although he had just lied to his brother to seem more brave and caring, Lion too wanted to adventure some. However now that he was with his blind brother he would stay close to protect him. 'Lion will protect Striker and sisters.' He thought to himself grinning proudly, glad his brother could not see him gloating.
Suddenly Striker leaped to the side of Lion and he watched him with a weird look. "Wut awe voo doin'?" He questioned the brown tabby beside him with a tilt of his head. Then he remembered, Striker couldn't see well. He decided to not press farther and smiled at his brother and laughed with him as he did. Lion couldn't imagine not being able to see, it would be a pain. Didn't Striker run into things a lot? He bit his lip to stop from asking the question, it was too rude! Although other kittens his age would just go ahead and say it, he wouldn't. He wasn't a normal kitten he was aged mentally beyond his age! He was quite mature for his age of one month. He also had class and would not ask the weak why they where weak it was injust.
"Do woo rememba where momma is?"
His younger ken asked and Lion blinked at him for a moment. His mind suddenly drawn blank. 'Uh-oh...' He gulped before replacing the look of panic on his face with a falst grin. "O-of cowsh! Dun wowwy" He exclaimed even if he didn't remember where momma was he could find her. It wouldn't be too hard, she was probably looking for them anyways.

[hope you don't mind puma joining!]Puma stumbled around a bit. This place -the waterfall- intrigued her. There were no bugs or scary critters that would nip at her feet, at least she thought, and all she had to do was find her big brothers and she was all right.
"WION!!" she yelled, the words flowing out of her small mouth. She looked around her. She shreiked. "Aaaa!" She scrambled onto a rock.
"Wion! Wion! It'z a snake! It'z a snake! Help meee!" She shuddered, her legs locking up. So she may seem like a girly girl, but a one-month old kitten walking around without her big brother to protect her could be scary. "Stwiker! Wion! Kessa! MOMMEEE!" She cried. She couldn't looked at the snake any longer.
She started calling out every name she could think of. "Mommee! Wion! Kessa! Stwiker! Wynx!" She cried. Her voice cracked with fright. "Daddee..." Small tears broke through her eyes and drifted down her face, leaving a silver, sparkling stream behind. After that one fell, she let them all fall.
"Don't be a cwy-babeh, Puma... They wiwll come... They awlwehz come..." She looked down. The snake was slowly coming towards her, as though it had just discovered she was there.
"W-Wion! Wion!" she screamed, backing to the farthest side of the rock. As she closed her eyes, she whisperd something to herself, something about wished her father was there to help her. She curled into a ball and waited, praying that her brother, or brothers, would come. She shook with fear.

OOC: No no thats fine, I guess this'll be the wintertrap kits thread instead of Sieze the night =] Fine with me. Listening to his big brother's calming voice, Striker nodded as needed and then laughed hysterically as Lion lied through his teeth about knowing where their mother was. Stretching out his small, kitten paws, Striker let out a satified yawn. He was growing quite sleepy with the ripple of midday sun that sprinkled through the trees, and he smiled a toothy grin.
Getting up again, he answered a little late to lion's question to his unsuccessful leap at his brother. "Just pwactising fwor wen thwose doggies come awound, duh!" He chuckled again. Who could blame the small tabby kitten for being happy most of the time. He learned to be happy, even with his lack of sight. Sighing, he put one step infront of the other to attepmt to get closer to Lion. Being away from his family's warht for so long made the kit home sick, so he gently brushed his flank against his brothers. Brown on orange, the colors of Autumn.
Purring lightly in total contentment, his purring was cut short by the sudden whiff from his sister Puma and then the suddne wail for help. His gold, sightless eyes grew wide in fear as he realized how close the kittens where to the roar of water. 'why dwoes momma make us wive so cwose to the watew?' he thought fearfully. He was lucky though, with his condition who knows what would have happened if he tried to walk back home without lion at his side.
"Wion! Its Puma!" He yowled in total fear. Without waiting for his brother to react, he lept from his brother's side in the direction of the sound of his sister's voice. 'we'wre coming Puma...' his thoughts swirl around in his head. Still running in his dark abyss, he felt the warmth that shot off of Lion's pelt as he ran to the side of Striker. Lion kept to Striker's side, protecting him and now leading him closer to their sister. Smiling, he knew everything was going to be alright.
"Wherwe's momma when woo need hewr?" Striker asked under his shallow breath. The booming and swooshing sound of the water grew louder and Striker also closed in on Puma's rapid heartbeat. He may have been a kit, but without his sight, his hearing was the next best thing. His mouth grew dry and he steadied to a trot into he bumped into Lion's rump. Finding a way to station himself at Lion's flank, he sensed his brother was reviewing what he saw, and was hopefully coming up with a plan. "Puma wherwe hewe ok?" Striker yowled over the booming of the falls.

Urgh! All tis howwible water! How do my bwothers stand wit? A small brown tabby shape trotted briskly across the rock, glancing at the water as it decended rapidly. The kit remembered one day when she was even younger than she was now, she had stood too close to the falls and got covered in the filthy water! She had cleaned herself for hours afterwards. But the boys didn't really mind getting too wet. How cwould them! Lynx Wintertrap was neither stupid nor a genious, but what she did know was that she wouldn't just let her siblings get cold! She always helped mother when she got cold. The tabby kitten had a natural mothering instinct, she, unlike most cats, always thought of others before herself. Well, family and friends at least. In fact, she didn't really have any friends who weren't her family. Only mother, kestrel, lion, striker and puma. She had never seen her dad. Well, at least as for as long as she could remember.
Her gold eyes lit up as she spotted Lion and Striker playing around by the falls. Twypical. Them like newborns! Pwaying. She thought, rolling her eyes and tutting. They'd only end up getting themselves killed if they carried on like that! The miniture brown feline powerwalked (running was for babies) across the rock, and confronted the trio. "What are-" Her voice was full of shock, and it was quickly cut off as she spotted the slim brown shape of a serpent, hiding in amongst the rocks. She instantly slipped in front of her siblings, her gold eyes narrowed. "Come on now, swep back. Leave snake awone." Her voice still had a strong kittenish accent, but her tone seemed more mature than the others'. She had always been the serious, adultish one. And now she had decided to take change of the situation, even though Lion was the oldest. What did that matter? The auburn feline kept a close eye on the creature... You could never be certain with stupid little animals like these.
More cautious that agressive, she pushed her body backwards, she flicked Striker gently with the tip of her tail, signalling what he should do. Simply step back. If they left it alone, it would probably go away. Well, that was when she noticed Puma. "Here, just say heerd." She mewed, which roughly translated into english means something like 'Here. Just stay here.'. He swift body stumbled across the rock over to where Puma was crouching. She let out a gentle, soothing purr, and eyed the snake maliciously. Lynx Wintertrap would rather die than let any of her family be killed. Her tail flicked up, to slide comfortingly down her sister's spine, a way she used to calm down her siblings at the time of a possible threat. She was much nearer to the serpent now. The she kitten didn't know if it was poisonous, so she made up her mind to just stay away. If it came nearer, then well.
Steps would have to be taken. ooc:; I hope you don't mind Lynxie joining in! Well, she is a Wintertrap. <3

"Just pwactising fwor wen thwose doggies come awound, duh!"
Lion couldn't help but grin at his optimistic brother. He could not see, yet he was always so happy. Lion knew, if he would not have been able to see, if it was not Striker, but himself. He probably wouldn't be as happy as Striker was. He'd have been a lot more angsty that was for sure. However, he was glad he was not born with this defect, and it was Striker. As the elders, Lion had a duty to protect his siblings, this very much included Striker. “Voo arh siwwy.” He told Striker, licking his lips and frowning at his mispronounced speech. True he was still just a kitten and speech wasn't something he was perfect at yet but it still sounded weird. Momma said it correctly. He would need to practice more on pronouncing things.
Lion felt his brother's warm fur against his side and the soft vibration of the purring of Striker. Lion couldn't help but smile. His brother was happy, thus Lion was happy. Poking on his small pink tongue the orange tabby went to grooming his younger brother before the scent of another reached his pink colored nose. He looked up to see Lynx trotting over to them. He smiled at her. “Wi-Eh?” The orange tabby was cut short along with his sister when the sound of their sister screaming his name echoed through the echoing falls.
The shriek reached their auds and immediately they recognized the voice. “Puma?” He questioned, perking right up. When Striker exclaimed it was Puma and Lion nodded in agreement. The three broke off in a bouncy run. “Puma!” Lion called out to his sister as she cried for him and their other siblings. Lion, although the situation was serious, he couldn't help but feel proud that his name was the one she called for most. He was indeed, the oldest and the one to take care of them all. As they made it to Puma, their sister, Lynx went into her “motherly” instinct and tried to protect them. “Winx, it weew bit voo, wet me take cawe of it.” He said puffing her chest out, watching her worriedly as she neared the snake. They had no clue if it was poisonous or not. Lion knew little to nothing about snakes, or how they worked. All he knew is they where dangerous and could be deadly.
However, little to their knowing, this snake was not poisonous. Simply a common garter snake. Furrowing his brows, Lion thought about what to do. He nudged Striker's side. “Sway thaw.” He whispered before crab-walking around the rock, his eyes never leaving the snake. Once sure he was ok for the moment his eyes turn to Puma. “Come down this way.” He said in a soft whisper, his movements where slow. He did not want to startle the snake, and Lynx was doing a good job in keeping it preoccupied while he could get Puma away to safety. “Winx, wut eva voo do, dun make sudden movements.” He whispered to his sister who was slowly moving up on the snake. He hoped, just deeply hoped she would be alright. As their elder brother, if anything happened to them he would never forgive himself.

Now everybody was here except Kestral. Typical. She didn't like Puma very much; but now Puma had her two brothers and Lynx right here. She felt safe, until she looked down at her feet. The snake was getting closer! "Jist sombwudy, git et awai!" She took a few steps back, keeping her gold eyes on the snake. She heard Lion whisper to her to come down where he was. "B-but da snack wiwll eet meh." She looked over at the snake. Oh, how she wished she didn't come after her brothers. All of this just because she was bored. And now her brothers had to take care of her the way they always did.
It was all her fault. She might as well just obey and get off instead of being a drama queen. Truth be told, she just wanted attention, something she didn't get a lot of. At least, not enough to her. She looked at the snake, then her brother. She put her fore legs out of brace herself and she crunched up her hind legs, then sprang - excactly like a puma- to Lion.
"I ded it!" She smiled, a radiant smile. "B-but I em sowwy fow makin voo hafta come end save meh..." She looked at the ground. It was all her fault. "I'w go awey now," she whimpered. "Voo guyses prolly don want meh around enymowre." [[sorry for taking so long. i had a power outage... and sorry for the small post. i don't have much for her to think about other than the snake...]]
