Well that was lovely. And I don't mean the fact that my humans finally got around to ditching me like so many other cats. That in itself is good news since it means that I can now find Dapple and we can live happily ever after together like I always knew we could. Some cats believe that the idea of a "happily ever after" is either impossible or overrated but I prefer to believe that it is neither. It is very plausible to live a happy, untroubled life with someone. It's very easy to ignore problems that are right under your nose. Everyone does it. Which should make the idea of a "happily ever after" very easy to achieve.
Anyways, to stop rambling on about storytale endings and get on with why my day was nearly a complete failure, I met this tom. Right after smashing into a tree like a blind old bat. He saw, of course. Seemed to think it funny. I can't really blame him for that - I'd have thought the same if I'd seen him walk into it. But I can blame him for other things. For one, being a completely rude, annoying and mean-spirited, stupid prat. Also for lying to me when I asked if he'd seen a she-cat named Dapple. I told him how important it was and he pretended he knew where she was - said she was onyl a few towns over, gleefully mating with every tom in sight.
Of course, my heart stopped.
You'd think I know my love well enough to realize that he was poking fun at me. But it was my worst fear shoved in front of me - how could I not admit that I'd prayed for this sort of thing not to happen. God, you should have seen his face. He laughed so hard and said it was a joke and I was an idiot. Seems to be the common diagnosis nowadays. Gone are the delightful associations of "charmer", "confident", "sensitive", or, my personal favorite: "a regular prince charming". No, now Rowan Brokendaze is apparently synonymous with a foolish idiot.
Lovely how my life is turning out.
Anyway he soon grew bored and thankfully met and that's when my day took a turn for the better. Remember how I only said it was nearly a failure? See, it wasn't exactly a complete bust. I met this she-cat, Violet. She seemed friendly, full of energy, sweet and overall just amazing. She's gorgeous too but it's not like I'm single after all. Somewhere out there is my Dapple. And I love her.
I'm just not blind.

Will he never leave me alone? It's as if he's appointed himself to be my personal poltergeist! And what did I do to him? Nothing! The same tom who teased and mocked me about Dapple was at the dump when me and Violet headed there and apparently he wasn't finished with his torment of me. Stupid prat! I normally give cats the benefit of the doubt but seriously, this guy just rubs my fur the wrong way, that's all there is to it. Of course, this time he seemed to figure that the more was the merrier and he might as well make fun of Violet too. He told her not to pin any hopes on me because I was lovesick for Dapple. but what happened next...
Wow.
Let me just say that Violet Wildflower can take care of herself, that's for sure. She just blew up at him, going on about he just liked to wreck everything and was just jealous and immature and... Well, she listed off a ton of things anyway. I was completely stunned. If anything, I like her even more now no matter how much I shouldn't. Because no matter how much I might dislike Calypso I have to admit that what he said about Violet getting hopes on me - even though he didn't address me getting hopes on her, must have figured even I wouldn't be that dumb - is true. There's no good that could possibly come from anything happening between Violet and me.
I need to find Dapple.
