Resolute, a stance of defiance, always teetering on the brink
I crouched down, trying to keep as low as possible. The squirrel was eating his nut a few inches away from me. I tried not to twitch my tail, but I did. The leaves beneath me crackled, a sound that wasn't covered up by the waterfall that was a few meters away from me. The squirrel took off, and I followed right behind. The squirrel was more used to running, though, and soon was up a tree and out of sight. I growled softly at it and sat down, then started to clean my paw and face. After my emergency clean was finished, I headed over to the waterfall.
Like a whisper to the dusk, like a prayer unto the dawn
[/right] The water pounded down, hurting my ears. I stared at the falls, amazed. How could it keep going like that, without running out of water? How could other things even sit and look at it without being scared of it? The words whirled around my head, trying to find someone to ask. There was no one besides me here that I knew of, and since I didn't know the answers, they were out of luck. I closed my eyes and let my head drop so that my chin was hitting my chest. The waterfall sprayed a fine mist over me, coating my fur with dew. I sat there for a long while, waiting for nothing to happen.
