Name: Thunder Tanglewood Gender: tom Date of Birth: January 4th, 2007 Height: 20 cm. Sexual Preference: straight Status: not neutered
Coat Color: dark ginger Coat Pattern: tabby stripes Eye Color: amber Fur Length: short Appearance Extra: What Thunder lacks in height and bulk he makes up for with speed and agility. Just because he's smaller than most toms (and some she-cats, but who would dare bring that up in his presence?) doesn't mean there isn't strength behind his blows. He is swift and limber, and muscles do ripple beneath his once-glossy fur. He has a torn right ear from a quick skirmish with another tom when he was younger.
History: //looking back at the beginning of this and how life was; -- Thunder's life began simply enough. He was born the scrawny runt of a litter of three, born to a breeder, with one brother and one sister. His breed is (as the humans called it) a Toyger; easily one of the most sought after cats in present day. It would have seemed that there was a perfect, pampered life before him, but this was never meant to be. Breeders aimed to perfect the appearance of the mighty tiger in a domestic house cat, with dark orange fur, majestic black stripes and a nobly sculpted face. Thunder did not have the facial features the breeders sought after; his brother and sister did. They could carry down the desired traits; he could not. And so he was put up for sale by the company at a hefty price, tossed away from the life of a stud and into that of a simple pet.
Thunder was too young to know any of this, however, and so he grew up knowing only life with his humans. He was quickly snatched up by a rich couple with two young children who had begged and pleaded for a "cute kitty-cat" since they first discovered the concept of having one. Of course, rich and spoiled children always get what they want, and so the parents gave in. Their massive victorian home was where the kitten would spend the rest of his life, happy and content.
Or so he thought.
//now the current's slowly pullin' me down; -- The children grew older, as children do, and so did Thunder. From an adorable, fluffy kitten he morphed into a clumsy adolescent. As he lost his babyish charm, the children lost interest. He always got into everything, he was curious and playful as young cats should be; but playfulness was translated into a destructive nature by the parents. They didn't appreciate it at all when he just wanted to bat something around. No one cared for him anymore, no one would play with him. His food dish would have always been empty had he not made it clear that it was. Finally, one fateful day, the parents decided that enough was enough.
The tomcat stifled a cough as the choking smell of exhaust weaved its way into his throat and nostrils. The car sped away, leaving the confused young Thunder standing in its wake along the side of the Old Road. So they were gone. So they just left him here to die.
He didn't die. But he was hardened and angered by the fact that the humans who had once loved him, once spoiled him and let him sleep on their beds, would now turn against him and not offer a fleeting thought as to what his fate might be.
At first Thunder thought he wasn't going to last out here in this cold, unforgiving world. It was so different from the soft life he had always known. But he adjusted - not without scratches and scars in that adjustment period - and now he's still fighting to stay alive. Now, though, he knows how.
Personality: //there might be more than you can see; -- It's hard to tell what Thunder is like upon first meeting him. One could draw the conclusion that he is very guarded, and this is true. Because of his humans' betrayal, he isn't quick to trust anyone. And he's understandably developed a burning hatred for the human race. Never again would he fall victim to their warm gestures; to him it's all the same. They'll comfort him, keep him safe, and then when they lose interest they'll dump him off somewhere. All he is to them is a toy. Or that's his outlook, anyway.
Thunder can tell within heartbeats of meeting a cat whether or not he's comfortable in their presence. Over time he's developed a strong sense of who he wants surrounding him, and as long as the other is not so guarded as he, Thunder can pick apart their personality and judge. And he judges quickly; one of the many flaws in his nature. He'll give one chance to those who seem shady to him, and if they can't prove that they're trustworthy, he won't bother with them at all. This has resulted in his solitude - not many can get through to him or break his outer shell. Friends are a foreign thing to him, and so is love.
He is fierce in defending what he believes in, and fierce in defending himself. Fighting is one thing he's learned to put up with during his time on the streets, and he's grown to actually enjoy the heat of a battle. Despite this, however, he is not one to start fights without a purpose. It's best he keeps himself in tact unless he really needs to go at it with another cat. He'll only back down from a challenge if he feels it's not even worth it. When he feels it is, watch out. His nasty temper will flare if you get on his bad side.
Thunder has many layers, however. If you get close enough to him to peel back his outer shell, you will find something rather startling: that he's not really such a crude character. Befriending him (if you get the chance) is a wise choice, for he is loyal to the end. He will stick by you and support you, a true companion. He's actually fun to be around at this point, for he is still young and his playful nature has not completely left him, despite his life on the streets stripping all of his innocence away.
Thunder is complex, like a puzzle. It's up to you to decide how to figure him out, and it's up to him to decide whether or not he'll let you try.
