History: Born into a litter of five on a small farm, Pear always had enough to keep her busy. Whether it was wrestling with her siblings or exploring the perimeters of the farm, Pear was always content. While she was the smallest of the litter she still managed to get her share of food, even if it was less than her brother's.
Pear was used to the humans that lived on the farm as well, in fact she accepted the odd pat she received happily. But she seldom chased after the young humans like her brothers and sisters did. The time Pear spent on the farm was among her happiest memories, the warmth and love making her whole. But like all good things, it came to an end soon enough.
On a cloudy evening, rain clouds gathering in the east, two new humans came to their little farm. As soon as they had arrived they had vanished, along with Pear's eldest brother. In the following days her sisters disappeared as well, and it wasn't long before Pear disappeared herself.
She was carried away from the farm in a box barely big enough to house her, she cried for her family, but to no avail. It felt like hours in that tiny box, when it finally opened daylight stung her eyes.
A pair of greedy human hands smothered her, Pear tried to struggle free to look around at her surroundings. They were surrounded by tall buildings, and strange sounds. Panic dug at her stomach, she wanted to be back home. Her heart raced as the human tried to carry her into a building, still holding her awkwardly. Pear dug her fangs into the hand, with a shriek from the human she was dropped. She bolted, aiming for the shadows of the building.
Angry calls sounded behind her, urging her forward. Which way was her farm? Her breath caught for a second but she kept her pace, zig-zagging through the alleys. Why couldn't they have just left us alone? She had never thought ill of the humans until now, they had torn apart her harmless family.
Pear wandered through the area for a day, looking for an escape from the labyrinth. Despair was slowly devouring her. She had eaten out of trash cans to fight off the pains of hunger. How long would she weave her way through here? She hoped to be on the farm before too long. But what if they took everyone else too? Pear was afraid of the answer, was there even any reason to find her way back?
As she walked between the buildings, a hint of green shone in the sky. Pear looked up, passed the crooked houses trees could be seen. It might not be the farm, but for now it's better than with that human. Pear trotted to wards the green covered slopes, pondering what was in store for her.
Personality: Pear is generally shy and cautious around cats she is unfamiliar with. She will often behave how she is treated because she is unsure of how she should react. She can be slow in deciphering between friend and foe, not wanting to make a poor decision. When she has grown comfortable around a cat she will be more playful and loyal, yet occasionally wacky and offbeat, enjoying the reaction she receives.
Because of Pear's friendly and humble nature she often puts people ahead of herself, and can be fairly sensitive to insults and rude gestures. She is altogether an easily approachable cat. Often she is unable to bring herself to outwardly harm an enemy, unless they attack her or someone she cares about within the same encounter.
Pear loves the smell of crisp dew and lazing in the grass. Chasing after butterflies is considering a great pastime by her standards, though if she actually managed to catch one she wouldn't know what to do with it. Climbing trees and watching the sunset are also among her favorite activities, the grand view and brilliant colours of pink and yellow, along with every shade in between, always soothes her.
If given a choice she will avoid direct contact with humans, blaming them for her broken family. Having never interacted with a dog or any other larger animals, she would be silent and observant, reserving judgment. She enjoys the company of kittens, admiring their innocence and untarnished love. Pear connects the happiest moments of her life with kittens, remembering frolicking with her siblings when she was younger, without a care in mind. While Pear knows that she can never go back to that time she feels the need to ensure that the other kittens feel the same radiance she did, while they are still able to.
Beneath her caring exterior she is somewhat a pessimist, complaining and often weighing the odds, which often tend to lean towards negative outcomes. Her two behaviors, being on somewhat opposite sides of the scale, leave her feeling unsure deep down.
Pear is a smart cat and can stick to a decision when she needs to, analyzing the stakes. When possible she will avoid fights, but defend those she cares about or those who are weaker and can't defend themselves. Pear acts easy going, but is generally a 'the glass is half empty' type, more so than she lets on.
