Once upon a time many thousands of years ago life was utterly destroyed on Earth, nothing survived except for the plants. Time passed and evolution took over, those this time it took a different path. This time the equines reign supreme, though these are quite abnormal compared to the original Earth variety. Some have developed a taste for blood and soon came to live on it alone creating the first Vampiric horse. His name was Marius. At the same time the mortal horses where changing too, they live more than 5x longer than their predecessors, infact the eldest horse alive is rumored to be well over a hundred years old, a mare named Pandora.
A war occured disarrying the herds of both the mortals and vampiric. There was slaughter on both sides since the mortals knew how to destroy the vampires. The war was decided when Pandora and Marius fought to the death, both died. Marius had a death grip on Pandora's neck as did she on his. They died at the same time with one last shuddering breath as the sun rose hitting Marius with it's full blast.
Soon after the war was settled the heirs and heiresses of the two leaders disappeared. Not much is known through-out this time other than their lines where crossed.
Time passed peacefully until an descendant of Pandora declared herself the Emperess of the the world, her name was Celeste. Oddly enough, she had no oppisition in her claim. Well, that was only because two stallions had been lying in wait. One was a vampiric steed that was well known and feared. His name was Lestat, a descendant of Marius himself. The other was a mortal brute almost as well known as Lestat, his name was Memnoch.
Now Celeste wasn't a push over, but she was a mare and she loved stallions, quite too much. She fell for Lestat and bore him a son. A beautiful chestnut son that was to be named Armand. Once Armand was born Lestat left Celeste and their son seeing that the emperess had born him a weakling colt that seemed more like a filly than anything. Memnoch took his chance with the distraught Celeste and when her son was about six months she bore an elegant chestnut daughter. The filly was to be named Sangre since she was almost a blood red.
When Armand turned three years of age his dam was murdered and he was left as the Emperor, he refused to rule alone and made his younger sister his Emperess seeing as how he did not understand the mortals, nor care for them other than as food. You see, he was true to his vampiric nature as was Sangre true to her mortal nature.
So now they have ruled for fifty years. Troubles are arising once again. There are rumors of the vampires disobeying their ruler, as are the mortals.
So what is your place is the world? Are you obedient to your ruler? Or are you indifferent to the troubles, doing what you will but not causing a ruckus? Or are you a rebel seeking the throne for your own purposes? Armand and Sangre are curious to know! Welcome to the new world know as Innocent Blood, where the blood does not stay innocent for long.
