Tangerine listened to Haven's words carefully. She stopped walking and turned her head toward him, green eyes catching the fading light making them look like little golden jewels. She slowly tucked her hindquarters into a sitting position and let her tail curl around her back paws, twitching on occasion. Forelegs kept her upper body erect as her ears were still pinned against her head as she looked at him.
Perhaps this one is the one that is genuine enough? Tangerine wondered to herself silently. Still, the wariness was rising up in her chest, however, despite these worries , she responded to him with words she never thought she would ever hear herself mutter.
"Very well. You can be my friend and you're right about the Tom's," she admitted but this was grudgingly. She didnt really want to let him be her friend, but a side of her was curious and wondering if perhaps he was genuine to his word. That he was really different than those other prats she'd bumped into in her travels.
Tangerine lifted her backside off the ground and took a few more steps, now falling back into line next to Haven. She glanced at him and then asked him a question.
"Where do you see yourself in a few years?" she asked him curiously as she kept one ear cocked toward him and the other pinned back against her head. She wondered if he ever wanted a family at some point. She did, but why on earth would anyone want to choose her as a mother? She wasn't good enough to look after kittens...was she? She shook her head and focused her attention on Haven, waiting for him to reply.

Tangerine's eyes glowed as they reflected the light from the moon. Haven took in the sight of her eyes and shook it off as she answered his question. He had to let her answer sink in because he didn't expect her to agree. "W-Well thats great! I know we can make this friendship work. I can feel it in my bones." He jumped onto his feet and shivered in exaggeration, just to show what he meant. Tangerine seemed less then happy with her desicion, but Haven could tell she didn't want to go back on it.
Haven watched as she walked toward him and stood next to him. Her head was cocked curiously in his direction. She glanced at him, and Haven couldn't help but stiffle a chuckle. He admired her reserved disposion. He waited patiently for her to ask her question, and he sat down, curling his white tail around his front paws.
Her question finally came, and it through Haven for a loop,"Where do you see yourself in a few years?" Haven sat in silence, and afraid the she-cat would think he was being rude, he took in a deep breath. "Well never in my wildest dreams did I figure I'd end up here. Thinking about it now I would probably like to survive-", he chuckled as he said his question franckly. "-Of course I'd like to start a family of my own, 'course I'd need to find a nice she-cat in order to do so..." He turned to smiled, and make sure that Tangerine was listening.
"Am I ready for commitment? I think I am...am I ready to raise kits? I will be when the time comes. Are you interested?" Haven chuckled and looked to the ground. "But seriously, I think you'd be a great mother. No doubt! I'm not saying with my kits persay, but you seem like you contain a motherly spirit." He mewed thoughtfully, his face a pale scarlet red. He turned his head to look back at the ginger she-cat. He smiled and tilted his head as he pulled back his ears. W-What about you? Tange.
What if I offended her....I probably did. I wouldn't be surprised. That's my freakin' personality!! Always hurting the she-cats. Thats me!, Haven thought grudingly with a hint of sarcasm.

Tangerine's fur bristled when he said that she wouldn't be motherly toward his kits. Her back arched slightly and her ears pinned back against her head again. She glared at him.
"Oh? Is that so? Why? I am not good enough for you?" she hissed irritably.
Here she thought things would be different. Haven was a different Tom cat then those she had met. And bingo. He'd just proven her wrong just now. Of course deep down she figured he wouldn't find her attractive enough like that. It was a given that she was destined to be alone for the rest of her life.
"Oh and compliment accepted," she added coldly as she began walking again, but in a rigid form as if to pretend he wasn't there walking beside her.
You were stupid enough to start to trust him! Look what happened! she scolded herself angrily and fought of tears misting in her orbs. She might as well curl up in a cardboard box and die. Cause it seems that was the only thing that would probably happen in her life anyway. As she raised her eyes to the heavens, there were dark storm clouds now rolling in. In the distance she could hear thunder booming and lightning lighting up the sky. The temperature dropped even more now and it was slightly chilly now. Just then, the rain began pouring down. Sighing in disgust, Tangerine continued to walk, ignoring the fact that she was now soaked, her fur matted to her body, water droplets dripping off the tips of her fur. She hated rain. It caused her to look like some kind of drowned rat. She didn't bother to shake the water from her body as she walked, paws placed easily on the now wet ground, stepping into small pools. Tangerine cocked on ear to the side, wondering what Haven's response to her comment would be. A faint smirk formed on her face but she was still carrying that irritated expression on her face.

Haven was taken aback by her irritated compsure. Her fur stood up on end, but Haven stood his ground. Against his best reasoning, his eyes grew wide with shock, What did I do? What did I say?... He stood up on all fours and followed her walk. He looked at the ground totally confused. The ground was all her stared at as he walked side-by-side Tangerine "Tangerine I-" Thunder crackled above them and the starlit sky was suddenly overlapped by a thick layer of black clouds. He winced and for once in his life he was speechless. Tangerine's angry remark replayed in his head, Oh? Is that so? Why? I am not good enough for you.
He stomped loudly onto the muddy floor. And looked straight up to Tangerine, a frown very present on his ivory face. His pelt started to plaster to his skin, the rain making it uncomfortable for him to bare. "Tangerine, I didn't mean it that way! You're a great cat and I don't want you to doubt that....Ever!" he stated in a harsh and authoritative tone. "I said my kits because I figured you wouldn't dream of starting a family with me anyway!!" Haven felt the temperature dropping along with the rain and he started to shiver. Because of his albino nature, his fur wasn't as thick as most cats and the rain literally soaked him to the bone.
The rain pitter pattered around him, hitting leaves and finding their way down to the forest floor. The sounds around them made a soft lullaby, fit for any tired cat. Drops rippled into puddles and wet the cats even more. Birds above in the high tree tops were shaking off the water and snuggling even deeper into their nests, hardly bothered by the neccissary down pour. As Haven breathed in and out, clouds of smoke escaped his muzzle showing the real drop in temperature.
"You can trust me Tangerine! Really!...b-but why w-would you feel so st-strongly about-t my comment? Would you want t-to be the mother of m-my kits? hyp-hypothetically sp-speaking..." Haven started to convulse slightly and and forced a weak smile in Tangerine's direction. "I'm being weak, and I a-apologize..." Haven looked at her, his body was suddenly tired from shaking so much, but he wanted to hear her responce no matter how cold he was...

Tangerine finally stopped listening to Haven's response. Ears slowly pricked upright as she gazed at him, water rolling off her like she'd been dunked into a bucket full of water and plopped down on the ground. She looked at him.
"I'm sorry. I'm just so used to people being negative toward me that I automatically assume things aren't going the way they're supposed. And I suppose since no Tom had ever regarded me in that potential way anyway," she said quietly as she finally spread her legs and gave her body a rigorous shake, sending rain water flying in all directions. She stopped and her fur stood out on end in several directions making her look comical.
"And I would love to, but I'm actually starting to trust you little by little. It will take a bit of time for me to fully trust that the minute I get pregnant you aren't going to bolt on me to find some other hot little She-whore to entertain you," Tangerine said as she slipped her hindquarters into a sitting position again and brought her forelegs around to her chest. She regarded Haven closely. Ears were cocked forward as the rain continued to pour down on them. It was cold now and she was shivering violently.
"I think we should find some shelter," Tangerine said slowly as she pulled herself up onto all fours again and padded forward, stopping to look back at Haven. Shelter sounded good, someplace warm and dry where she could lie down and get some sleep. Tangerine yawned again and showed Haven that she was getting rather sleepy now. Another loud clap of thunder boomed, lightning lighting up the sky. Tangerine briefly cringed and waited for Haven to respond.

Haven shook violently know and had a hard time looking up at Tangerine. Haven heard Tangerine's voice chime into his pulled back ears. He lifted his head, feeling like it weighed a hundred pounds. She apologized and mentioned that no tom had been nice to her and saw in the manner that he did. Haven sighed deeply and locked his ruby red eyes on her ginger face. She shook herself off, some water splashing onto him face, adding to the cold. He was ready for her to tell him to buzz of so he figured he'd do her the pleasure off kicking himself out. "Tange, I understand and I'll tke the hint an-"
Thunder crackled and he heard Tangerine continue her meows. She'd love to! Haven's eyes widened to her words and he payed closer attenton now. "I know that it'll take awhile to trust me, and I'm willing to wait and see what happens...but I appriciate your forgiveness" Haven bowed his head respectully and was lifting it but stopped abrubtly. "Did you say she-whore!?!" He chucled and turned to the she-cat. "Once I'm committed, Babe it's forever!" He smiled and walked closer to her and gently licked her ear again. His fur was still plastere to his skin but he bounced on ahead of her anyway.
Tangerine yawned and Haven heard her assumption and agreed to find a shelter. He was tired aswell, especially after putting so much emotion into apologizing to his she-cat friend. "That would be a g-good idea" Haven shivered a bit, ran to Tangerine and nudged her to her feet. He then bounced off into the direction where the forest grew thicker. "This'll be great Tangerine....take as much time as you need!"
They walked for a bit, the rain still pouring down. It was a pretty bad storm. Haven walked at the right flank of Tangerine, letting her choose the best place to sleep for the night. Hopfully they found one soon, he didn't know how long he could last out there without catching pnemonia. He saw Tangerine shiver a bit, "Are you cold?" He was concerned. His attitude had changed so much since the time when he first encountered the ginger she-cat. He was smug and hardly looking for a mate, and what do you know he found a beautiful cat behind that hard barrier Tangerine had put up. He padded next to her waiting for her to speak. It had seemed like they met ages ago now.

Tangerine heard his words and nodded, but slowly her guard dropped. She didn't know why but it was. She shivered and spread her legs, giving her body a rigorous shake. Water went flying everywhere. Her fur was now standing on end, making her look like some kind of poof ball.
Great. I look like I stuck my paw into an electrical socket, she thought disgustedly but turned her attention onto Haven. He'd asked if she was cold. Nodding, she slowly began speaking to him.
"Y-yes. It's rather d-damp here now from the rain. D-do you know a place where we can go to get w-warm?" she stammered out shivering a bit more.
Her tail was held up behind her, swaying slightly from the motion of the walking. Blades and pelvis rolled easily with each step. Paws were now dirty from the mud and bits of it were clinging to her fur. Her ears were cocked toward Haven. He said once he's comitted thats it. Ok. Well so far I trust him. But I'm still not completely going to dismiss it. She felt a bit grateful toward him that he had said for her to take some time. Which was good because she was going to need it. For years, Toms had always been a thorn in her side, like some kind of poisonous fang lodged deep in her skin slowly omitting the poison into her bloodstream. Each Tom she ever met, one by one would end up hurting her.
But she had to admit, Haven was certainly different. Of course for her to fully trust him that wouldn't be quick. It would definitely take a while. Her nose quivered as she picked up the salty sting from the air that was coming in from the rain. She stood, watching Haven, waiting for him to respond. Anywhere dry was just the thing Tangerine needed right now. She felt as though someone had dumped about 4 pounds of sheer ice on her and the shivers that ransacked her body came frequently now as she stood, feeling the cold water running off her body as she looked at Haven, eyes catching the lightning once and while as it lit up the sky above.

Haven cocked his head to one side and smiled. Tangerine was cold and Haven couldn't help but smile at her vulnerable state. He thought he'd never see her like that in a long time, but she'd put up her barrier again soon enough. "Don't worry Tange, I'll find a purrrfest place for the night." He walked up next to her and brushed his flank against hers to send the slightest amount of heat from his body to her. "Especially to get you out of this downpour..." he continued with a smile. She seemed like the timy bits of her mental barrier were being chipped away, very tiny bits. He pointed his node foward in the direction he'd lead her.
"Are you sure you feel comfortable enough to let me lead you into a dark forest. Aren't you wweary that I might, I don't know, attack you or something..." He chuckled again and started into the darker, thicker parts. He inhaled and breathed out, "Into the unknown, I guess. I truely hope I can find you a place to sleep..." His voice was weary but he padded on. He knew Tangerine was close because he could feel the warmth of her fur radiating from her near body. He sniffed around and even with the onslaught of rain he scented dry grass a little whiles off. His pink paws were getting rougher and his ivory paws were turning brown with the mud.
He would stop every once in awhile to make sure Tangerine was ok, and not lost in oblivion. "we're getting close, Tange. I can feel it. Do you mind if I call you Tange? or is that what all those evil toms called you?" He tried to start up a converstaion trying to help get Tange's mind off the sheer cold. When suddenly he found what he saught after. Two trees looked like they had fallen ages ago hitting eachother and ceased to budge over a few decades or so. Under the slight dome of trees laid a nice soft patch of moss and dry grass. Some fronds from the tree sheilded the entrance and Haven felt satisfied with his discovery. He walked close to it, his ears flat against his skull. With caution he sniffed around to make sure there were no cat residence.
After a few seconds of scanning thoroughly he turned to Tangerine a smile. "Your bed awaits, my queen..." He mewed teasingly and bowed. I hope she likes it.... and he waited for Tangerine to make her move.
Admin's Note on August 25th: This thread is now being locked and archived due to inactivity. We'll say that they rested a bit and developed a friendship since I know that's what's planned for this plot.
