"One year!" He blinked. Had he heart that correctly? No, no way. There was noooo way that they were the same age now. Well, of course he had a month over her but it couldn't be just one month apart! Seriously, she acted so...childish. She probably got her numbers mixed up and was actually something like eight months. That would only be reasonable. However, he wasn't going to spoil her celebrations by voicing his personal opinion. "One year, eh? Er...congratulations. You're technically an adult now, I guess."
He didn't remember when he first turned a year. He probably hadn't been counting and it didn't matter anyway as of now. Celebrations were fun, but being in the spotlight made him nervous anyhow. Though...he did wonder how Will would have celebrated his birthday. Would he have remembered? 'Aauugh...let's focus on this crazy she-cat's birthday.' He admonished himself.
"Hey, Sable, how old are you?" "Eh? He glanced back over at Juniper, surprised that her voice wasn't all bouncy and filled with excitement as it had been a moment ago. "My age? Oh...I guess I'm a year. Thirteenth months total." He replied, "I think. Why?" Did it matter how old he was? Maybe she would be stunned at their close age but different levels of maturity as well. He imagined her with such an expression and almost snickered. However, a moment later he did hear a laugh and sat up, wondering if he had laughed aloud. No...it wasn't him. It was Juniper. What was her problem? Did she not believe that he was thirteen months old? Regardless, she was definitely the oddest cat he had ever met.
”Sounds great! We can get some food then wander around and get lost!” He tilted his head, 'Is that supposed to be her idea of a celebration? Wow...' He gave a mental shrug, 'Might as well play along. After all, she's the birthday cat.'

Technically an adult now. What did he mean technically? Of course she was an adult! She rolled her eyes at him. What an idiot he can be sometimes. Or maybe… He was thinking the same thing she was. That she didn’t really act like an adult. Well whatever! He could go fall off a cliff. She didn’t care what he had to say about her age or how she acted or whatever. Because she could act anyway she wanted to. And his opinion didn’t matter on that. One year or not, she could still act whatever way she wanted. Sable’s words just helped her come to that decision… Whatever annoyed him.
”Yes, I am an adult,” She said, and held her head a little higher. It felt good to say that. That she was an adult. She was grown-up and could make her own decisions and do whatever it was that she wanted to do. Nobody would feel like they had to look after her anymore and say ‘Aww, look how cute that kitten is.’ Because they couldn’t anymore. Instead they would say ‘That she-cat is pretty,’ or whatever. Because she was an adult!
So Sable was a month older than her… Oh well. She had already gotten over her fear of having to become all grown-up-ish, but she was still curious about his age; It was good to know… She guessed. She shrugged and yawned. ”No reason,” She replied and smiled. Juniper looked down at the chicken and sniffed it experimentally before tearing a piece of and chewing thoughtfully on it before swallowing. ’My frist meal as an adult,’ She thought happily. ’And adult,’ She echoed experimentally before nodding and taking another bite.
When she was finished she looked at Sable. ”Let’s go! Follow me!” She explained before taking off in the direction of the dump. She put introducing Sable to Moon out of mind to avoid feeling jealous and then guilty because she felt jealous. She flicked her ear at this thought before thinking of how they would spend their day. Grab a bite to eat at the market? Go to the woods and try to catch some food? All possible ideas.
Only time would tell.
