I have to learn how to keep myself quiet! His mind scolded him. He knew, as the main rule most stressed on by his kin to never give out any other information other than your name. It could be held against him...or worse...Still, peering deeply into her sparkling jade optics he couldn't see that there was an angry bone in her body. No, definately no chance of that. "Minny and Pecan are my sisters. I'm the only tom."The last line he said quieter, as he was somewhat sad to admit it. Why couldn't his mother had him a brother as well? Someone who didn't care much about the dirt in their pelt? Someone who he could play with without being scolded and batted behind his ears? But, if that's the way destiny lay for her mother he'd just have to somehow live with it.
Pistachio stood up and shook his fur, a habit of his. He kept pace with Opal's speed and stuck to her side. Walking, she was more than a head taller than him. He kept his gaze fixed on the road around him, noting the familiar landmarks that he had passed on his way to the road. Slowly, the sun started to set, casting his shadow over the bricks. Birds cried their evening song as crickets brought up their symphony of sound. The night was warm, thankfully, but stil held a cool wind; winter was coming soon. Continuing his walk, he noticed an old tree trunk. The tree had fallen long ago, cut by beavers, creating a nice and large hollow away from the wind. "What about over there?" He said and pointed his tail in the direction. Without a reply, he walked over to it and crawled through the hollow. Inside it was quite large, making it easy for him to walk around without worry of hitting his head. Opal, on the other hand, might have to bend down a little bit. Moss grew in one corner of the hollow, the sponge tinged silver by the steaks of moonlight starting to shine through. Gathering a few patches he had more than enough for a small nest for himself. There was still plently left for Opal. Settling down, he waited for Opal to do the same.
ooc:: MUSELESS. I'm starting to think that we should somehow end this post or move elsewhere. I'm starting to lose muse for it, how about you?

Opal froze when Chi mentioned hid didyrtd. Are you nice to them? Are they nice to you? she meowed, narrowing her eyes suspiciously. Suspiciously, but not threateningly. Was it possible that this helpful kitty could be mean to his sisters? No, she decided. She widened her eyes again and sighed. Sorry about that. It's just that, before I had this brother who would always gloat at me. He thought he was better just because he was a lot... Opal gulped. She was very proud of the way she looked. prettier than me. she meowed in a quiet voice, looking at her paws.
She nodded enthusiastically at the shelter. Yes, let's go there! Grabbing some moss, she dashed inside, ducking her head at the entrance. She flattened the moss into comfortable bedding, circling it a few times before laying down. Although she was lying down, her eyes were still trained on Pistachio, watching him comfortably settle into his nest. She nodded. Let's go to sleep.
OOC: Yes. Maybe Pistachio is showing her how to do stray cat things? Like not being afraid of cars?

The torbie tom smiled mischievously. "Well, they might be kind to me, but I don't know about being kind to them...doesn't make much sense..." He laughed. "Of course I'm nice to them. They're family, after all."Now it was Opal's turn to speak, and she did have quite a bit to say. Her brother didn't seem like the nicest tom that you could meet. Then, she remarked at her appearance. Chi automatically looked that cat over. Her long gray fur sweeped delicately over her paws, and her figure was strong. The white splotch on her chest was a very nice touch. He secretly wished that his pelt was like that. "Aw, shucks. You're might pretty."He smiled, before closing his emerald optics and settling into a more comfortable position. Sleep already had started to make him less weary of his surroundings. "Good night..." Pistachio said to Opal and was already soon sucked into the cool black of sleep.
The dreams were soothing in Pistachio's cranium that night. Good memories of his past flew by, stopping at the very sweet parts. It was like there was no other care in the world, the only thing nessecary to do was to laugh and enjoy the sugary sweetness. Why life couldn't be like that, he had no clue. But, he was content of his surroundings, and he wanted to keep it that way. Memories of his mother, his father, his sisters, their home, the hills all flooded back to him. It was like the events happening all over again. He remembered catching his first piece of prey, although tiny, but still enough to feed himself to the fullest. Now, he was a fast-learning hunter, able to catch more with his ever-increasing accuracy. Pistachio wanted to keep this peace for as long as he possibly could, as he knew that the world outside wouldn't be as friendly. It never was.

Opal nodded shy. Thanks. She rolled over onto her back, rubbing it against the moss, before turning over and falling asleep.
It was a nightmare. There was Steve lumbering toward her, a giant. Picking her up and smashing her against a tree. I don't want you. You're useless. The pain....The scene flashed and suddenly she was in an enclosed space with billions of dogs. Lunging for her, grabbing her, their drool dripping down her neck....and suddenly se was being attacked by Moon, beautiful Moon, his white fur flashing and blinding her with its sleekness. HELP!
Opal stood up, panting, banging her head on the top of the hollow.

Thump. The sound echoed in the hollow that Pistachio and Opal were sleeping in. Well, the hollow that Pistachio was sleeping in. Pricking up his multicolored ears, the little tom muttered to himself. The sound, a simple thump, had woken him out of one of the best dreams that he had had in a long time. He wasn't too happy about that, if he was happy at all. His emerald eyes opened, the pupils growing in size to adjust to the darkness that surrounded him. He picked out the silhouette of Opal, standing up and panting. By the look on her face, it was she who had hit her head. "Hey, you alright?" He said curiously, peering at her bright green eyes. "Did you have a nightmare?" He himself hated nightmares. No, he horribly despised nightmares, remembering his teachings on how hate was a very strong word, too strong for this inaminate object, if you could even call it that. More like a figure of one's imagination, if that is what it could be called. Still, it scared the living daylights out of him every time he had them, making him want to curl up near his mother's belly and sleep in the unending warmth. He knew that one day, however, there wouldn't be a mother to return to. That's the circle of life, that's how it worked. No matter how many times he prayed that that day would never happen, eventually it would. Is that how Opal feels, not having someone to turn to when she needs to? No family? What a hurtful life.

Opal winced slightly. Ouch. She glanced down at Pistachio. He was awake now. She shook her head slightly. I'm so kuittish, she muttered herself before turning to Pistachio, I'm reallly extra sorry. she meowed, looking at her gray fluffy paws. She listened to what the other cat said and nodded. Yeah, it was a nightmare, about Steve, and Moon and... She gave a slight shiver. And dogs. She wasn't exactly afraid of dogs, but, stuck in a whole pen of them? She wouldn't do that for her life.
Sorry if I woke you up. she meowed quick.y, crouchoing down so she didn't bump her head on the top of the hollow as the prodded on her nest. She curled up, her nose touching her tail. Are you sure your parents won't mind that you're gone? she murmured sleepily. She tried to keep herself half awake until Pistachio answered, but she failed, so she fell into a deep sleep.
ooc: after your post, do you want to end the thread?
