we all end in
the ocean,
we all start
in the stream.

The air

was warm and the leaves were only disturbed by the soft, gentle breeze that blew. Many a few days ago the rain had washed all the pollutants and pollen from trees away. So now the air had a fresh, washed scent.

Her pelt

was growing hot as she lay in the sun. Her face stretched along the ground. She sighed in contentment, this was peace. After being dumped in this land by her unforgiving owner, she'd had little time to do what she liked best. Enjoying the little things in life.

She could

identify some of the bird songs that were being called out so merrily. Of them all the most distinct ones were: jay, woodpecker, cardinal and chickadee. She wasn't hungry so the birds held no desire or interest for her. The sun on her back was beginning to get uncomfortable. So the tabby got up slowly and lazily glided over to the more shaded part of the woods.

The paw steps

she so carefully placed on the soft ground, littered with fallen leaves and mosses, made hardly a noise. But she doubted even if she made a ruckus in this calm ever-dormant wood no one would be disturbed. The canopy was thick was the new growth of spring.

She was

curled up at the base of an old oak tree, mosses grew so thickly among the roots that it made a comfortable bed. She gazed out upon the wood and smiled a kitty smile; this was nice. She felt very content and after a few moments she promptly fell asleep.
