((unfinished!)) The Cattery These are my favorite places around home.
The tent! We hid in this, and jumped out to scare cousins! It's all worth the long wait to see the look on their faces and how they jump back in surprise.
This rug was the best place to nap- especially when sunshine hit it. Felt like silk! It was really warm, too- especially when my brother and sisters were with me.
These fluffy dens you could hide in and still be able to poke your head out! Great for a midday game of hide-and-seek. This is our solid black cousin, Jacob, climbing out of one. I'm right on top of the tower in the background. Sister Lily [blockquote Lily is a cool older sister. She was the laid-back sister. She was the one who always peered down her nose at Naoki, and approved or disapproved his ideas. She never looses her cool. Harlequin just sounds like the sorta sound she emanates, am I making sense? I really liked her, and I miss her so much. She's at shows now, and I'm so glad she enjoys that. I couldn't, eeeugh![/blockquote] Sister Mimi Mimi was more like me. She was a bit more nervous, so I had to coax her along in playing with me and stuff. She had a really high pitched voice too! We always called her Mousecat-Mimi, because we heard a mouse once in the walls(or, well, we were told it was a mouse by the elders) and then Naoki said, "Sounds like Mimi's talking to us!" It wasn't very nice, and Mimi cried. She's much happier now that she's being showed, though. She always follwod in Lily's footsteps, even when they squabbled. I miss her lots too. Since she's a Mi-ke(which are supposedly better than other colors- stupid humans!) she gets more fame than Lily, which isn't always fair since she's younger and inexperienced, and Lily works so hard.
Brother Naoki Naoki was really a leader cat! He always had fantastic ideas(well, we didn't think so until Lily said they were okay). He always had a joke up his sleeve and was mouthing off the the elders- he's such a rebel! Naoki never played the caring older brother- he scoffed at our problems, calling them "petty troubles" and was fiercely independent, according to Lily. Sometimes, she was even smarter than mom!! Now that I think of it, Naoki looks a lot like mom. Except when he's making faces!!
The Gang Would you believe that's what the other kittens called us? Yeah, we were always making trouble. But that's what Japanese bobtails do! Our humans loved us, though, and we always made cute faces and splayed our front legs all cute and we never got a real scolding.
Here's what we look like. I'm at the back left, Lily's back right, Naoki is the front and Mimi is mewing at the far back right. She's almost out of the picture! This is one of the ones that our humans took and put on their spongey wall, which is called a 'bulletin board'. It looks like a big scratching post, but has little claws all poking into it, holding pictures there.
My Extended Family My extended family consists of:
-Mom & Dad
-Other Mom's and Dad's- we call them Uncles and Aunts
-Other kittens; we call them Cousins
-The Elders: These are the old retired showcats. They always complain about us, but they tell GREAT stories from the show ring!
-The Showcats: These are adults that are almost always away on shows, and they don't mingle with most of the kittens. We recognize them by their attitudes and their ribbons, which seem to always be around.
Here are some pictures of the family:
Cousins, Brothers and Sisters all sleep together and play untill we fall asleep! It's so much fun being around everybody.
Don't you hate when mothers get in the way? This was one time Mom scrubbed my face numb! It almost hurt! But at least she was satisfied afterward. I'm not sure what she has with dust on our chin. I couldn't even see most of it anyways.
Don't trees look so much like towers and scratching posts? They just are brown and green, and have a lot more dirt.
Darnit, Mimi is always stealing my favorite napping spot! She has it all to herself now. I hope she doesn't miss me too much. Maybe I'll visit and see if she sees me from there. That could be cool!

Dear Diary...
I ran away from home today. It was real easy; I waited until the windows were being cleaned and slipped out quietly while the humans ran for more of the cleaner-solution, that smells really awful. I'm finally in the grande outdoors! I mewled a good-bye to mom, who looked forlornly out the window, but I nuzzled her quickly through the glass as best I could, and dashed of before the humans could see me there. It's a good thing they have such bad noses or they'd of caught me quick.
I looked aroudn the yard and wondered, why did we never get out here? There are no towers or tents, but it'll be alright. I climbed my first real tree, too! It was a little sapling, but it supported my weight untill I got about ten catlengths up. Then I went on a branch that snapped off. I'm so glad there was regular dirt below me, or I would have gotten hurt!
Then I looked up and there were lots of clouds covering the sky. I hadn't realized it before, but it had been getting significantly cloudier the long time I was out here. I wasn't sure what I'd do- the temperature was dropping a little and the wind sliced through my thin fur like a knife! I overheard some cats talking about how we Bobtails only have a top coat, and no dense undercoat. No wonder we don't overheat in the sumer!
Then I experienced my first rainstorm. At first a drop hit my haunch, and I nearly leapt three catlengths into the air with surprise! It was like a bite from the cold mouth of a cousin, but worse. Then more started pattering down and I felt like I had just been in a bath that was freezing cold! I tried to hide under a bush, but I ended up getting lots of water in my eyes, which burned like a fire in the human's fireplace.
Nature is a funny place. [/blockquote] Azalea :3

Dear Diary...
I'm not sure what to think of Coon Whitekey. He's so nice to me, leading me to a log to get out of the rain. He also said he liked my tail! No other cat has ever said that. The elders say that long-tail cats jeer at us Bobtails, but Coon is different. He has a funny thing called a necklace around his neck. It looks like what the humans wore and didn't let us touch, but it's very shiny and he tries to eat it. I'm not sure why, but it looks like a nervous habit. I think I can trust him, because he looked like he recently was out here too. Hopefully he can help me get better at being comfortable out here. But I do feel very guilty sometimes. He told me he was abandoned by his humans, whereas I ran away. When he tells me this, I wonder if my humans miss me, and I feel that sinking feeling that I should go back. I hope it goes away.
I'll say more soon, [/blockquote] Azalea :3

Dear Diary . . .
Coon Whitekey is soo nice! He treats me really nicely, and he calls me a little rabbit! Well, I saw the cutest baby rabbit(unfortunately, it hopped away before I could stalk it) the other day, so I think it's a compliment. My tail is much fluffier, I'll have to say.
His tail is fluffy as mine, and looks like a peacock feather(we played with them when the owners weren't looking sometimes) when he waves it around. It's amazing!
Also, he offered to take me to the dump! I'm so happy that I decided to come out here. I think I'll follow Coon around. I feel really guilty when I see that necklace and think of the horrible humans that abandoned him(I didn't know humans could do that! I don't think the old showcats did either), but otherwise he knows the place better than I do, even better than the she-cat near my old home.
To the dump! Azalea :3
