Why don't you put her to sleep?
Fawn gave a slight growl, remembering them. She was not used to these streets. Before, she had been a show cat, fed and pampered. However, she had changed. Ever since she had been in that car crash, she had known what life was really about. No, not being the best showcat, not being the most beautiful and being named Queen Fawn Winterbreeze. No, it was about smiling inside. What you look like outside didn't matter.
That was what her mother had always tried to teach her. That it was what was inside that mattered. She had never understood that. She had always been fondled over, exclaimed over. She had always won so many awards. And then there was her brother, Champion Dark Nightrider. He would probably be winning awards now. And her poor sister, who had beenvery ugly. She had understood.
As she glanced back at the wilting animal shelter, cool, dusty gray in the sunset light, she remembered. I'm a stray cat now. And she was proud of it.
The scars on her belly were healing now, she noticed as she jumped down from the high wire fence. They didn't hurt as much. She was very loucky she had at least semi-long fur; she was extremely cold and the winds were almost blowing her over. Winter was coming soon - very soon. Although it hadn't started snowing at, there were no leaves left on the trees. She glanced around, unfamiliar with her surroundings, opening her mouth wide to let scents waft through. She smelled...those humans! From the shelter! They were coming out.
The thought of going back to that place and getting killed was too horrible. Her owner's words still echoed in her ears. Why don't you put her to sleep? [/b] She had been terrified for her life. She had always thought that she was safe and her humans would always take care of her; now she hated humans. How dare they try to kill her! They didn't understand that it was what was inside that mattered. They only cared about how beautiful she was and how much money she would make them. She had loved that life, but not she regretted loving it. She had not realized it then, but she was getting pampered and spoonfed. It was much better just to have to hunt a few mice every now and then and be free and not valued just because of the color of her eyes, or the shininess of her pelt. Now she was running; her lungs were burning up and shriveling, but she couldn't stop for breath. Every time she made a stride, her legs stretched out to full length. The wind was blowing back, and her tail was a long bluish-black banner behind her. After running for a few minutes, she reached a long dusty road. She widened her eyes in terror as a car rushed past. There seemed to be no cats around. Seemed. They might be surrounding her now. Even though she wasn't in the shelter, she was terrified for her life. But what other choice did she have? Getting killed? She uncertainly opened her mouth, letting the scents flood into her mouth. She backed up, leaping onto a low wooden fence. There was a cat around here. She gave a deep breath. Who are you? she was surprised with herself. Her voice held slight authority and determination - the shaking in her voice was hardly noticable. [/blockquote] words 576 [/i][/font][/right]

ooc: About Summer: She had a more untrusting, emo alter-ego called Winter that sometimes takes over at the sign of danger, since she's better at fighting and a lot meaner xD Bear with me.
'Eh?'
Summer had been trotting down the old road, one of the many places she had never been in Nenbrook. Naturally, Winter had been pestering her to let her take over since she had first scented the cat that still reeked of humans, but Summer had followed her, trying to track down the obviously distressed she-cat.
Who are you?
The question had surprised her; she hadn't realized that she had been discovered. But, finding no reason to hide her presence, she shifted out from the shadows.
Lemme take over, Summer! She could be dangerous; can't you smell that human on her, or are you stupid?
Be quiet.
She was now faced with a beautiful, black-furred she-cat, whose purple eyes were locked right on her now. She stared back before finally smiling her, deciding she wasn't about to jump out and rip her to shreds.
'...Hi? I'm Summer... Did you, I mean, just get here or something?'
Came the simple greeting, and Winter was yelling louder than ever in her head, telling her to shut up and let her take over. Ignoring the presence, she walked closer to her, timid footsteps louder than usual to show she wasn't trying to attack.
Summer sat down a few feet away from the other cat, scratching an ear with her back foot offhandedly in a casual manner. With a yawn, she managed,
'Starlight. Summer Starlight, that's my name. You?'

OOC: lol. Summer and Winter.
A cold wind almost blew Fawn off the fence. She tensed, waiting for some cat to pounce on her. Instead, she heard soft paws coming toward her. Surprised, her eyes perked up. This couldn't possibly be...a kitten?
Immediately, she felt sympathetic for the poor bundle of fur coming toward her. It was small and brown tabby. Was it dumped off? Or was it born on the streets? Either way, it must be hard on the kitten. In one smooth movement, the bluish-black shape leapt off the fence. Yet another wind knockedher sideways so that she almost fell on her flank. However, using her tail, she balanced herself and landed - almost gracefully - on the ground.
...Hi? I'm Summer... Did you, I mean, just get here or something?
Fawn nodded. Yeah...I ran away from some stupid humans who were about to kill me. The fur on her tail bristled slightly at the memory of them. She tipped her head forward slightly to hear what else Summer was saying.
Starlight. Summer Starlight, that's my name. You?
The black she-cat smiled kindly. I’m Fawn...Fawn Winterbreeze. She shivered, wrapping her tail tighter around her body. Tipping her head to one side, she meowed, Hadn’t we better get off this old road? words 206

'Kill you! Why?'
Inside Summer's head she heard a faint sigh and an a soft 'idiot...' but she passed it off as the wind and watched the other cat carefully, quite impressed that the cat had made it so far while running away from killers. She couldn't possibly understand why anyone would want to kill another.
The wind whistled around them, and even though she had already developed her winter coat, it wasn't warm enough to protect to kitten from the incoming snowstorm- so at the suggestion that that move off the old road, she gave a nod and darted into the shadows, disappearing into the all grass and finding a small hollow in the roots of the trees big enough for both cats and more. So, she curled up and shivered, waiting for Fawn to follow.
A massive growl threatened to cave in the hollow, but as Summer perked up for danger, she realized it had been her stomach, of all things. She licked her lips; when the storm passed, she'd have to get something to eat immediately.
'Hungry, Fawn?' She asked the older cat, whose appearance was also that of a kitten. She yawned, hoping to wait out the storm but sleeping through hit. Laying down the soft tabby head, she let her eyes drift close and well asleep, murmuring in her sleep about pearls' and hazels'.

For a second, Fawn blanked out. She remembered why she here and she remembered those humans and she basically remembered...well, her whole life. And she remembered that this polite little kitten was a stray and could attack her any second. And her tail fur bristled again. You just need to be careful, Fawn. she reminded herself.
She smiled, amused, at Summer's exclamation. Well, I used to be a show cat for my humans, and they made money off of me. But then I got into this big carcrash and scarred my underbelly. And the show people thought that they couldn't make money off of me anymore,so they wanted to 'put me to sleep', as they say. So I ran away.
Fawn quickly leapt across the road and followed Summer into the small hollow. It was very spacious and comfortable. Summer must know this territory very well, Fawn thought, glad for the help.
Suddenly, there was a deep growl. Fawn perked up her ears slightly and lifted her head, violet eyes widening. Then, she realized it was just Summer's stomach.
Hungry, Fawn? [/b] Fawn shook her head no, but then Summer dropped off to sleep. Not wanting to wake the kitten up, the black cat cautiously stepped outside. Her thick winter coat was already grown in, but it did little to block out the wind. Using her instincts, Fawn opened her mouth to search for prey. There was a mouse near. She leaned down and crept closer to it. However, the mouse felt her pawsteps and fled, But Fawn was not ready to give up. She narrowed her eyes against the wind and rqaced after it. At last, she caught the mouse's tail and quickly and cleanly killed it. It was a small, thin mouse, but hopefully it would do. Summer could eat it all. Fawn quietly entered the den. She whipped around when she heard something about hazels and pearls, but realized that Summer was murmuring in her sleep. She dropped the mouse by Summer's paws, and curled up, nose touching her tail, but didn't go to sleep.[/blockquote] words 344

'Nghh...'
Sleep green eyes opened drowsily, taking in her surroundings much more quickly than usual. With astounding grace for a kitten of only a few months, she was back on her feet, bristing and staring around for signs of a threat.
With a hiss, she noticed the black she-cat lying quietly beside where she had just been sleeping herself, and, seeing she wasn't asleep, she narrowed her eyes.
'I don't know what you're planning, but I won't allow you to harm either of us!
Came the harsh growl, very different from the kitten that had been speaking happily the day before.
Winter! What are you saying? She was almost killed by her family! She's not planning anything!
You're too trusting.
And you're paranoid. Now, get back! You'll get your turn when it's time to hunt, let me enjoy the morning... And explain to Fawn that I am NOT crazy!
But you are.
Give it a rest.
Blinking, the Summer found herself seeing out of clear green eyes once again. Meeting purple ones, she quickly bowed to the cat, managing to stammer out,
'Sorrysorrysorry! Please ignore everything you just heard. Ya see, that wasn't me, it was Winter- she's like my sister, cept, you know, same body and stuff. And she's a lot meaner.
Shut up.
Proving my point!
Jamming a smile onto her face, she suddenly picked up the smell of...
'M-m-m-mouse?' Overwhelmed with desire, she rushed forward, consuming the whole thing way too fast for a kitten to be bale to manage before looking back at Fawn with an apologetic, innocent look that didn't fit on the face that was now stained with blood.
'...Oops, sorry! I should've left some for you, you're probably waaaay more hungry than me anyways! Want to hu-'
...nt? Not finishing the sentence, Summer realized that the sooner they did that, the sooner miss evil-alter-ego was sure to appear, so she finished with,
'Hum?'
She started humming a nursery rhyme, face already heating up with embarrassment at the sad save.
ooc: ...What the heck was that? o__0 sorry about the bad post, I know it's full of speech, most of it inner, but I'm sort of out of it right now. Soocer's like, the new football nowadays! Blah.

ooc: lol. summer is so funny. She watched the kitten slowly wake up. Suddenly, Summer jumped up to her feet. Fawn was taken aback about what Summer hissed. All she could splutter was a confused but...! Her thick black tail bristled to almost twice its size.
Suddenly, Summer calmed down. She meowed a quick apology. That's so cute. Fawn thought, smiling. It's perfectly fine. She tipped her head and, just out of curiosity, mewed, Is there a way to control Winter?
SHe watched with pleasure as she devoured the mouse. ...Oops, sorry! I should've left some for you, you're probably waaaay more hungry than me anyways! Want to hu- [/b] Fawn shook her head, Nah, I'm pretty good. It's okay. Do you want to go hunting? As soon as she finished the question, Summer ended her sentence with the word 'hum'. Erm...okay, she meowed, feeling a little awkward. She nodded at the nursery rhyme Summer was humming. Her mother had taught it to her. She joined into the humming. [/blockquote] words 160

ooc: lol, Fawn played along with her humming xD Sorry about the long post o__0 I dunno what came over me, I kept trying to balance the speech and the text but I kept writing to too much to counteract the other and then I had this! ;D
'Is there a way to control Winter?'
Inside her head, Winter scoffed, and if she had been in control of any eyes at that moment, they surely would have rolled.
Don't get any ideas, Summer. This body is just as much mine as it is yours, I'm just nice enough to let you have most of the time with it. You better not skip out on my turn in hunting, either, or I'll be mad.
With heavy sarcasm, the kitten responded with a dry,
I wouldn't dream of it.
'Well, not exactly. We're sort of the same person, ya see, and evn if she's rude, and mean, and tiring, and hot-headed-'
We get the point.
'- It's not my place to say. She just doesn't really fight me for it.'
Winter made no response to that other than an annoyed, 'che' before the stripe kitten bounced up.
Fawn asked her if she'd like to hunt, and with all her heart she wanted to say no, but nodded solemnly. Trotting out of the den, she sent a glance back to her, quickly explaining,
'I can't hunt; I never learned how to. Winter takes over for that, so don't listen to a word she tells yo-!'
Green eyes disappeared momentarily as she blinked before straightening into a more tense position. Looking up, Winter eyed the other cat darkly.
'Watch yourself.'
She said briskly, turning away and stuffing her nose into the air, testing it for the scent of prey. She picked up on the scent of a rabbit, and a wolfish grin appeared on her face. Glancing back at Fawn meaningfully, she found the realization at the potential meal in the violet depths as well, and raced off in that direction.
The old road was a beautiful place, with the chipped, sandy red bricks and the long green grass growing on either side. Even with all the grass dead for the winter, it was nice just to hear the birds chatter. Well, for Summer , that was.
Winter's swift movements came to a halt as she found the source of the smell, and found herself staring at a small white hare, whom blended in with the snow quite well.
Waiting until the rabbit had completely relaxed, she drifted closer and closer before flying forward, landing cleanly on top of the animal. She killed it with a bite to the neck, and it hardly even realized anything had transpired before it was dead.
Give it to Fawn.
Despite Winter's unjustified dislike of the pretty black she-cat, she dropped it in front of her, looking away.
'For the mouse.'
Came her cold voice before her green eyes lightened and Summer dropped back into her loose, happy and clumsy stance.
'Just look at the size of that thing! She's good, huh? But I don't have any of her skill or yours!'
She laughed, enjoying the nice weather despite the cold temperature and the even colder alter-ego.
'Fawn, I never lived with a human before. Is it true that they have no claws or fangs? I saw them, but I never saw one before. Did you meet any others in your pretty cat contests?'
Summer blinked, awaiting a reply. She had contacted them before, but not much of an exchange had ever happened between the kitten and the mysterious species with practically no hair.
'Oh- and is it true that they can breath underwater and fly? That would be soooooooo-'
She took a breath-
'-ooooooooo cool!'
Shining green eyes met purple, and Summer grinned as Winter sighed.
Idiot.

Fawn listened carefully to what Summer said about Winter. Oh. she said softly, a slight smile on her face. The pretty black she-cat stood up momentarily to stretch her back legs before looking back at Summer.
Oh yes, let's hunt, she said quickly to Summer's answer. Fawn cautiusly padded out of the tree hollow, sniffing the air before she left it. Summer's green eyes turned to ice that made Fawn's spine tingle, but she knew it was just Winter taking over Summer's body. At the spooky 'Watch yourself. Fawn gave a quick nod. She was not used to being treated like that. There are some strange cats out here on the streets. Fawn thought.
While Summer, or should she say Winter, was off hunting, Fawn opened her mouth to let the air seep in. She caught the scent of a hare, but Winter was already hunting that. Just as she was about to turn, Winter appeared. She dropped the white hare at Fawn's feet and looked away. For the mouse.
Fawn nodded. Thanks. A lot. she mewed appreciatively, bending down. She quickly gobbled the mouse up and started washing her whicskers, patiently cleaning aall off the blood from her mouth and whiskers. Feeling a little bit awkward, she asked, Are you still hungry, Summer? Because then we could hunt some more. She felt a little bit selfish eating up a whole big rabbit while Summer only got a tiny mouse.
Fawn almost purred when Summer asked about the humans. Yes, that's true. You can attack them anytime, and they're so stupid that unless they accidentally squash you underfoot, they wouldn't hurt a fly even if they tried. she laughed, violet eyes shining.
To Summer's other question about humans, Fawn shook her head. Well, they can breathe underwater. I've seen them do that at this huge pond with stone at the bottom and along the sides. But they can't fly. At least, I think they can't. My owners never did. she tipped her head to one side, trying to recall whether she had seen them fly sometime. words 345

To be honest, Summer wasn't very hungry at all, and she also wasn't sleepy, either. And this kitten lived on three things alone: Food, sleep, and trouble.
'Actually, hanging around this road is a bit of a downer... Since so many cats' lives were torn apart here, ya know? So I was thinkin' we might wanna go down to that human food place and play with them a bit. If you want to,'
She added, scared that she might offend the cat who had recently been betrayed by them. Summer didn't hate anything really, she was too young to full comprehend the word entirely, so even though humans were what came and took her from her family so suddenly, she didn't hold much of a grudge.
'Ya see, there's this place in the human town called marketplace, and they buy food and shiny stuff there, and I've heard that trouble is easiest to stir up there. I'm in the mood for some danger... Whaddya think?'
ooc: soz for the short post -_- There's not much to do on the old road except sleep, hunt and talk, so I was thinking since we've covered all three, we should move this place to the market, and mess with the humans for a bit? You can start the thread or post once more and I can, whichever one you want to do
