Dusk stalked forward. Her heart pounded a frantic erratic rhythm. The humans that had walked through the forest was gone now. The terror never failed to tear into Dusk's heart. But she was alone in her own mind, for once. Her illusions had abandoned her in her terror. Dusk's lungs burned. The silence wasn't worth the awful feeling of the terror. That feeling when your heart is about to explode. Your lungs bleed and you cant hear past the rush of blood in your ears. The kind of feeling Dusk always got when humans got to close to her.
Sighing Dusk paused attempting to pull herself together. She was still shaking. The human had come out of no were. Dusk had been intent on her meal, when it had bounded right past her nose. She had completely freaked. Body whipping all the way around. Her legs pulled her forward into a terrorized sprint. She didn't care were she was going. All she could think was escape. Now as she curled in a ball under a dripping bush she shook. Her entire black frame shook in horror. Her tiny paws pressed hard against her chest. Panting the crazy she-cat huffed. She would be normal now, for some short time. Her mind stolen from her illusions by terror.
Dusk sighed again. Her tall thin body finally stopped shaking. Her wide green eyes stared, huge neon globes staring into the wet cold night. What a night to be afraid. What a nigh to run in blind terror. Looking around in fear Dusk blinked. The human hadn't come after her. Not all humans killed cats. Her parents death had been a horror. But were people what she needed to be scared off? Her black pelt ruffled. Cats could be much scary than humans. Remember Cadmium. She told herself. He had been kind. Dusk wasn't afraid of cats anyway. Only the humans. Only the murderers that had killed her parents in the bloodiest ways....

Maple padded quietly through the dark, gloomy forest with a scowl on her pale face. Oh, I hate the rain! Shaking her fur uncomfortably, the she-cat sighed. Sniffing the air in hope of a mouse or two, Maple picked through the scents that hit her nose. Lets see, there's some wet trees of course, a squirrel, some old, dead mouse, and -- what was that? Another cat? Maple frowned, her forehead wrinkling as she contemplated this stranger and began to follow the scent towards it. Why would anyone be out on a night like this? I mean, seriously, this weather stinks. I wish it would be sunny more often. Maple's thoughts continued on in her typical critical way.
Maple straightened up and her eyes widened: she had a purpose now, and she walked with a more confident air. Thrusting her nose into the air again, she parted her jaws and let the air seep in so she could scent the stranger better. Following the scent trail, Maple padded on for a minute or two until she reached the base of a cluster of thick bushes. The scent was much stronger now; she could use her eyes instead of her nose. Circling the cluster of shrubs, Maple nearly missed the she-cat curled up against a bush; it was only her glowing green eyes that alerted the tabby to her presence. "Oh, my!" Maple exclaimed, taking only a second to slide from bemused to caring. Well, not really caring -- Maple was just pretending to be so. "Are you okay?" Maple stared at the shuddering she-cat. Dusk jumped. The pale cat standing next to her had appeared suddenly. Her heart pounded out a new frantic rythem. "What the hell do you want!" Dusk snarled. She hated help. Most cats would rarely speak to her for long before calling her insain. Her black pelt ruffled Dusk stalked back wards towards the rain. "Im fine! If the damn humans would stay in town were they belonged I would be perfect!" Dusk glared baefully at teh pale tabby. "Clam little one" Oh great the illusions were back. The thin white tabby siting at Dusk's side now would be invisable to the new comer. Dusk felt herself deflate. Her pelt fell back against her thin water logged body. Her green eyes dimmed. "Why cant the humans kill there own kind and leave me alone...?" she breathed.

"What the hell do you want!" the other cat spat. Maple's fur immediately went up and her ears pricked nervously. Eying the she-cat warily, Maple paced a step backwards, unsure of how to react to such an outburst. "Um... the tabby muttered. The other cat cut her off by standing and making her way back towards the rain, glaring at her. Maple watched as she let off another angry torrent of words, cursing and snapping at the humans. "Jeez, calm down!" Unknowingly, Maple half-echoed one of the she-cat's illusions. "It's not that big a deal." Letting some of her temper flow into her usual "sweet" manner, Maple sneered at the stranger. "They're just humans. They don't usually bother with cats like us..." Suddenly, the stranger seemed to calm. Her fur fell back against her thin frame and the angry fire in her eyes dimmed. Maple watched as she whispered something, but didn't really care how tired or sad or whatever this crazy she-cat was. "Well, I'm glad to see you have your sense back," Maple remarked dryly. "Why don't you keep it that way?"

This new pale tabby snapped back at Dusk. She had every right. Dusk sighed as she shuddered. She felt her body completly stiffen when the she-cat echoed Cloud. Shivering in horror. How bad ones life could be when your crazy. The pale tabby she-cat sneered at her. Dont usually hurt cats... Dusk felt the familer frustration draw across her face. No humans didn't attack normal cats. Did this make her a freak? Even before the visions had come? or had Dusks insanity laid in hidding waiting for her heart to split? "Your wrorng" Dusk moaned, she felt Cloud press herself against her side. The illusion gave Dusk no sense of comfort. "Humans are ruthless and cruel" she groaned. Lifting her agonized gaze to the tabby Dusk blinked. How diffrent there lives must have been. How much were tehy alike, how diffrent? Dusk's heart burned for answers she would never get. She felt like she was drowning. Like there was fire keeping her from the surface... Dusk barley reacted as she normaly would have when the tabby snapped at her. Dusk just stared at her for a moment longer before looking away. "My name is Dusk Madflames... May I ask yours?" Dusk asked sadly. Her pale gaze switched back to the female's deep blue eyes.

The black cat let out a moan. "You're wrong... Humans are ruthless and cruel." Maple blinked at her, surprised. What...? "Humans are totally fine... I mean, in my past they've been..." Maple's surprise dampened her snappy temper, but as her surprise wore off, so did her veil: "I mean, really. What have they ever done to you?" But then the tabby looked nervously up at the stranger. How would she react to her irritated sentence? Quickly, Maple tried to distract her. "Well... I mean, they can be pretty mean at times. Yeah, I know what you mean." Her plot seemed to have worked, for the she-cat ignored her words and starting a new topic. As she stated that her name was Dusk Madflames, Maple nodded. "It fits you." Especially her last name, Maple added inwardly. Stretching out a paw in a little welcoming gesture, the tabby nodded slowly and looked back into Dusk's pale eyes. "I'm Maple... Maple Redberry." Trying to sound sweet and innocent, Maple let out a purr. "I've never really liked my name much... but I love yours! Dusk. Such a nice name..." Maple trailed off and looked up at Dusk, hoping she had given the right impression. Then, nervously, she looked down she looked down at her narrow paws and waved her tail slowly. [/blockquote]

Dusk smiled weakly at Maple. What havn't humans done to me? she wondered. Maple... I think it fits Dusk dipped her head. Staring at her paws Dusk burned with thanks that ehr mind hadn't gone down the crazy road yet. A maple is tall and strong, but also wonderful and awe inspiring She murmured. And my last name has changed Dusk grumbled. So much for Havenclaw she spat. Haven my tail fur. There was no haven left for Dusk. With a sigh Dusk pulled herself around to stare at Maple's blue eyes. With a coy grin Dusk chuckled. Though Ive never been comfortable in any kind of Haven Or ever been safe in one Sighing again Dusk shook out her fur, careful to save Maple from the water droplets. At least the storm had subsided. And the human was gone. Thanks for talking to me, by the way. most cats think I'm insaine. Which is true. But still, I am thankful

Maple wrinkled her forehead, looking condescendingly at Dusk as she spouted some awe-filled description of a maple tree. "Oh... yes, I agree," Maple murmured. Oh, of course I agree, she thought sarcastically. A second later, though, she looked up at Dusk with genuine curiosity with barely a hint of malice. "Last name? What was your last name before Madflames?" Glancing up at the brightening sky, Maple noted that the storm had stopped and the dark clouds were slowly fleeing from overhead. A sudden sound snapped the tabby's attention back to Dusk, and she saw that as the black cat shook out her fur, she was careful to kep the drops away from Maple. Thank goodness. Maple gave a faint, relieved sigh. I really don't want to get my fur even more wet than it already is. That was the thing with Maple: she took the kindness of others for granted, but didn't bother to be kind in return. Dusk spoke again, cutting off Maple's train of thought. "Oh, it's nothing," Maple replied sweetly. "I'm actually really enjoying talking to you!" She gave a loud purr, accompanied with a loud smile that was clearly fake. [/blockquote]
